If you don't like it, then I suggest you skip to the next chapter. Unless it doesn't exist yet, in which case...I have another Ducktales one-shot that's rated K and it's called 'In this family, homeschool is vital' if you wanna go check that out.
Our story begins on a clear, non-stormy night (with no clichés whatsoever), the new moon peering through the skylight to the home of three young witches. In the room with said skylight was a large black-iron cauldron set dead in the middle, a magic drawing circle surrounding it. Nearby was a fireplace with a raging fire, a door right next to it. On the other three walls were bookshelves that reached the ceiling, spell books, and various ingredients scattered across the shelves.
In the room were two of the three witches. One was a tall duck with a pink streak in her hair. She wore black robes with dark grey stripes, a matching pointed hat tilted precariously on her head, an annoyed frown on her face.
The other was a small purple hummingbird in turquoise robes, a teal hat that had black stars that made up famous constellations rested neatly on her head.
"I hate magic." Lena huffed as she looked at the two bowls in her hand, both of which looked like smaller versions of the large cauldron.
"Said the witch who agreed to do this ritual with us tonight," Violet replied as she pulled out a small notepad to look over her checklist, a small black drawstring bag tied around her wrist.
"You try saying no to Webby," Lena grumbled as she crossed her arms and looked away from the smaller witch.
"Hey, I heard my name. What are you guys talking about?" The third witch, Webby, bounced into the room. She was dressed in a purple robe with a pale blue belt and had the most decked out hat between the three witches. It was light pink, with various words and symbols scribbled on it from different cultures or spellbooks, and on the side of it was a pink bow glued onto the side.
"Nothing," Lena and Violet quickly replied in unison. It was an unspoken rule between the two sisters to try not to disappoint Webby. Or at least, Lena tried not to while Violet kept her thoughts about Lena's hatred of magic to herself.
"O...k…." Webby looked at them suspiciously before she shrugged her shoulders and dropped a large, brown leather-bound book on the table, next to a slightly smaller blue spellbook. "I finally found the right spellbook with the incantation to go along with our ritual. You two got the stuff?"
"If by "stuff" you mean the ingredients specified in our other spellbook, then yes, we did," Violet stated as she pulled out a quill from nowhere (she's a witch so she can do that), ready to tick things off her checklist.
"Three white feathers?" Webby asked.
"Of course," Violet raised her left wrist to show the drawstring bag, presumably with the feathers inside it.
"Two bowls of various herbs and spices?"
"Right here, Webs." Lena lifted the bowls up for the younger witch to see.
"And a partridge in a pear tree," Webby said in a sing-song voice. Lena and Violet stared at her with unimpressed expressions on their faces until Webby cleared her throat. "Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Oh, here's my random item the spell called for!"
"Finally. Took you long enough to pick something." Lena rolled her eyes, a fond smile tugging at her lips.
"I know, I know. But seriously, what kind of magic tells you to pick a random item that you have no personal connection to?" Webby questioned as she looked at the blue spellbook.
"Magic is weird, Webby," Lena deadpanned. "Anyways, what did you pick?"
"A blue golf club. Add in your dollar bill and Violet's red quill and we have everything we need to summon the Duck boys." Webby announced excitedly.
"Still not quite sure why you're so fascinated with them," Violet admitted as she set aside her notepad and got the feathers out of her bag.
"Uh, cause they're related to the greatest adventure of all time? Scrooge McDuck?" Webby squealed.
"Yeah, yeah, we know," Lena covered Violet's mouth with her hand before she whispered harshly into the hummingbird's ear. "Keep talking and we'll have to sit through another lecture. I'd rather turn into a toad than let that happen."
"I heard that," Webby huffed at her fellow witches' lack of enthusiasm before she flipped through the blue spellbook to look at the steps required to complete the ritual. "How are you not more excited, Lena?"
Before Lena could reply, Violet coughed to grab the two ducks' attention. "Pardon the interruption but the moon is almost in the proper position. We should get started."
"You're right!" Webby exclaimed as she laid both of the spellbooks down, open to the pages the girls needed to complete the spell. "Okay, it says here we must each hold hands and make sure we have our wands- or in our case, our friendship bracelets. Then we dump the feathers and the bowls into the cauldron along with our random items."
"Got it, Pink," Lena dumped everything into the cauldron unceremoniously. "Wait, what does it say about the magic circle?"
"Nothing. We don't need one," Webby replied as she tossed in her golf club. Then she glanced down onto the floor.
"What? Then why did I spend an hour drawing the perfect magic circle?!" Lena scowled as she glanced at Violet, who smiled smugly.
"I may have partaken in a common childish practice of pranking someone," Violet winked as she threw in her red quill.
"Why am I friends with you?"
"Shh, you guys can fight then quickly make up later," Webby grabbed Lena's dollar bill and dropped it into the cauldron before she grabbed her fellow witches' hands. "The time has come to complete our spell!"
"Double, double, toil, and trouble. Fire burn and cauldron bubble!" The three girls read the incantation from the leather spellbook, speaking in unison, (though Webby said it far more dramatically than the other two).
"Hold on, isn't that from Macbeth? Are we plagiarizing Shakespeare?" Violet interrupted. Webby opened her mouth to say something before she took a minute to think and realized the hummingbird was right.
"She's right. And didn't Disney use that in their Hocus Pocus movie too?" Webby asked.
"Yeah. The fanfic author couldn't come up with a creative way to begin the spell so she googled witch incantations and came across this," Lena leaned against the wall, fiddling with her wand. She noticed the confused looks on her friends' faces and shrugged at them. "Don't ask."
"Uh, right. Let's keep going." Webby shrugged off the weird feeling that the fourth wall had been broken before they continued.
Powerful spirits, young and old,
Hear our pleas, ever so bold.
On this late Halloween night,
Grant the wish for our delight.
Duck Boys, we do call
This evening of late fall.
Bring three of a kind,
Our fates forever entwined.
Multi-colored smoke rose out of the cauldron, overflowing and covering the floor. The colors red, blue, and green mingled together before separating. The smoke slowly began to outline three ducks over the cauldron, one composed of the red smoke, the second of blue, and the third one green.
Loud pops and booms echoed throughout the room, getting louder and louder as the three witches quickly covered their ears. Eventually, the noise faded just as bolts of lightning escaped the cauldron and zipped around the room before each struck the three outlines. The smoke then faded away to reveal the Duck Boys.
Without any clothes.
Their eyes were closed, and they smiled sleepily as if they had just woken up from a long nap.
Webby and Violet's faces turned bright red as they caught a (quick) glimpse of the boys, er, nether regions before they averted their eyes upwards, the former looking impressed and the latter looking intrigued.
"I guess the spell worked," Webby squeaked faintly, Violet nodding her head in agreement.
"It certainly did," Lena smirked as she looked up and down appraisingly at the slouched duck on the far right side before her eyes settled on his face.
The girls' voices seemed to awaken the summoned beings. One by one, each of the three boys' opened their eyes, softly glowing the same color as the radiating bands on their wrists.
The duck on the far left was a bright hue of red with a metal charm resembling the quill Violet had put into the cauldron. He flushed at the sight of the three girls and sunk down in the cauldron, smiling awkwardly as he fiddled with his wrist band.
The one in the middle had a band as blue as dew with a golf club charm. He smiled brightly, waving at the three girls. His grin grew even bigger as Webby waved back enthusiastically.
The third boy, the one Lena had eyes on, leaned against the back of the cauldron, his wristband green as a leaf. He looked around the room before looking at each of the witch girls, pausing when he caught sight of Lena.
"Well, well, boys. Look what we have here." The green-eyed duck smirked wickedly as he rubbed his hands together like a stereotypical Disney villain. Unfortunately, the whole "no clothes" thing kinda threw off the scary vibe he was going for.
"Looks like three certain someones summoned the Duck Boys." The middle duck said excitedly, in awe of the fact that someone, or rather, three someones had wanted to summon him and his brother.
"Question is, do they want a trick? Or a treat?" The red-banded duck asked in a serious voice, though he was clearly as excited as his brothers.
"Why can't we have both?" Violet asked, her face remaining serious, though if one looked closely, you could see a hint of a smile on the bird's face.
"Forget the chitchat, it's time to party!" Bluey raised his arms in excitement, accidentally rocking the cauldron, causing him and his brothers to all fall to the bottom of the iron pot. AN: I think we all knew who Bluey is lol
"Yea, we can definitely party, um, but first let's get you guys out of here." Webby rushed over and reached her hand out, as did Violet and Lena.
It took a lot of pulling but eventually, all the Duck Boys managed to get out of the cauldron. They stood there kind of awkwardly, while the girls made sure to keep their eyes up so the triplets didn't feel too embarrassed.
"Before we decide to partake in any revelries, we should probably finish the ritual so that you three may remain with us in this realm," Violet stated as she grabbed her notepad to look over her notes.
"Hubert, I think we finally found a girl as boring- I mean, nerdy as you." The green-eyed duck whistled innocently as 'Hubert' glared at him while
Webby paused for a second as she realized something. "It just hit me. We don't know your names. We only know you as the, well, you know. Duck Boys."
"Seriously? All the research and neither of you bothered to learn their names?" Lena asked, exasperated. Only her thorough and nerdy friends would forget something as simple as learning the names of those she was summoning. Heck, Webby knew everything there was to know about Scrooge, so how hard would it have been to learn three simple names.
"My bad!" Webby laughed nervously as she ran a hand through her hair. "My name's Webby, that's Violet, and the one leaning against the wall is Lena."
"Pleasure to meet you, madam," Dewey spoke in a bad British accent as he bowed and kissed Webby's hand. "I'm Dewey, this is Louie, and the robot there is Huey."
"Glad to make your acquaintance," Violet thrust her hand out to shake Huey, who hesitantly returned the handshake, his face blushing noticeably.
"So what do we need to do to complete the ritual?" Huey asked as his eyes darted around nervously. "We've never been summoned before. Oh, and can I have some clothes please?"
"We all have to dance together before submerging ourselves in a special pool of water." Webby smiled sympathetically at Huey. "And unfortunately, you'll have to wait till after the ritual. It says you have to be in the same state as you were when you got here. And...we weren't really expecting you to not have any, so we'll have to look for some clothes afterwards."
"Who cares about clothes? I just wanted some Pep but nooo, I gotta dance instead. What kind of summoning needs you to dance?" Louie went to shove his hands into his pockets before realizing he didn't have any so he just crossed his arms in annoyance.
"That's exactly what I said. Totally lame." Lena agreed. She wasn't expecting the proud
"I call Webby!" Dewey shouted as he grabbed Webby's hand. She laughed at his enthusiasm.
"Um, if you don't mind, maybe we could-?" Huey stammered a bit as he approached Violet, holding out his hand for her while visibly shaking a little, but she ended up cutting him off.
"I'd love to dance with you, Hubert." Violet smiled softly. Huey sighed in relief as she accepted his hand.
"Ugh, guess I call Greenbean here." Lena pretended to be annoyed though inwardly, she was glad she got to dance with Louie. He seemed interesting and wasn't as bouncy or nervous as his older brothers.
"Oh please. Don't act like you weren't checking me out earlier." Louie took her hand and followed everyone else out of the room and into another one, with a large clear area, perfect for dancing, next to a circular indoor pool full of bubbling water.
"You wish." Lena rolled her eyes, though she couldn't help but wonder how he knew that. His eyes had been closed when she'd done that. But she chose to just shrug it off for the time being and ask questions later after the ritual was done.
Webby pulled Dewey over to a record player and began to play a song the group could slow dance to.
Dewey confidently danced with Webby, only stepping on her foot a couple of times. Not that she minded. She was having too much fun laughing at the various jokes and silly stories he was telling.
"Did you really blow up your uncle's houseboat?"
"Yep. We ended up living with a great-uncle we hadn't known existed."
"Scrooge McDuck, right?"
"Yeah. You've heard of him?"
Little did he know that Webby was about to give him the first of many lectures about her hero, Scrooge McDuck. Not that he regretted it. Well, maybe a little but he thought her ramblings were adorable.
Violet and Huey spoke about the books they'd read, and exchanging tips about camping and the eerily similar Junior Woodchuck program that existed in both of their realms.
"I don't think I've ever heard of the Junior Woodchuck Guidebook. We just have a bunch of notebooks we write everything down in," Violet admitted. Huey gasped dramatically.
"That is not okay in the slightest! As soon as this ritual is over, I'm summoning my book and we are so going over it."
"That sounds like it'll be very educational. I'm looking forward to it, Hubert."
"You ever gonna call me Huey?"
"We shall see."
Meanwhile, Lena and Louie compared different pranks and schemes they'd pulled off over the years, along with ones that had been pulled on them.
"Can't believe your brothers actually got scammed by some Tenderfoot guy."
"Shh. They still don't know about it."
"Oh, right. My bad, Greenie."
"So...were you really a shadow once?"
"Yep. My 'aunt' was actually after your great-uncle, but then we ended up in this realm."
"Any clue where she is?"
"Nope, and I don't wanna."
Their conversation was ended by the music stopping. Webby clapped her hands and pointed towards the pool. "End of the song means we gotta submerge ourselves in the water. I wanna go first!"
"No offense, but those outfits don't really seem like they're meant for swimming. Or wearing," Louie pointed towards the robes and hat Webby was wearing.
"Hey, I like my robes," Webby retorted. "But I would never swim in them."
Webby took her hat and robes off, revealing a pink swim dress with a sweetheart neckline swimsuit, purple straps, and blue frills along the edges. Violet and Lena quickly took off their robes and hats too.
Violet had on a high-neck one-piece, resembling her Junior Woodchuck uniform, but like...swimsuit version and without the red scarf. Lena had a tankini on, the top looking like her robe with the black and dark grey stripes while the bottom piece (boy shorts btw) was a pale blue.
The boys each had their own reactions that really did wonders for the girls' confidence. Dewey was kind of drooling, Huey's face was red (again), and Louie looked Lena up and down, almost exactly the same way she had looked at him earlier.
Webby got into the pool first, just like she wanted, wading in until she flipped onto her back to float in the way. Dewey followed her into the warm water, swimming alongside the short-haired girl.
Huey tested the temperature of the water first before he slowly got into the pool, not realizing he was still holding Violet's hand until they were both in. He smiled sheepishly at her, though neither of them let go.
Lena and Louie looked at one another before jumping in, splashing the others. They laughed at the others until Huey splashed them back. Soon, the whole group was splashing one another until they remembered why they were in the pool to begin with.
"My notes said we must all submerge at the same time, with our eyes closed, and remain under the water for fifteen seconds before emerging from the water," Violet stated.
"This is the weirdest ritual I've ever heard of," Louie muttered under his breath, Lena snickering at his remark. He grinned sneakily before he kissed her quickly, feeling proud that he managed to make the 'tough' girl blush.
"Hey, no fair. How come she gets one?" Webby whined. Dewey turned to say something but found himself cut off by a peck on his beak.
"Well, majority rules, I suppose," Violet shrugged as Huey kissed her cheek. She stared at him until he finally kissed her beak. "Much better.
"N-now that we've gotten that random piece of fluff out of the way, on the count of three, let's go under the water," Huey suggested, a little red-faced. He and Violet still held hands, while Dewey and Webby grabbed each other's hands simultaneously. Louie and Lena looked at one another before shrugging and doing the same thing. "Okay. One...two...three!"
And under the sea water they went, eyes shut tight.
Each of the witches counted in their heads, something they had agreed to do when they first came up with the idea of summoning the Duck triplets.
'1, 2, 3, 4…'
Huey counted to himself, unsure if anyone else would be counting. He figured Violet would, but Junior Woodchuck rule 542C or something like that said "better safe than sorry".
'...5, 6, 7, 8…'
Dewey and Louie figured someone else was counting so they didn't bother to. Instead, Dewey just focused on how nice it felt to be wanted, summoned even, and how great Webby was.
'...9, 10, 11, 12,…'
Louie just thought of how much money he'd left in the other realm and was wondering when he'd have enough magical energy to transport it to the realm he was currently in.
'...13, 14, 15!'
Huey and Violet were the first to reach the surface of the water, gasping for air. Webby and Lena had to pull Dewey and Louie up since they had no clue that the allotted time had passed.
The first thing the boys realized was that their swim trunks had somehow appeared on their bodies. The girls were quick to notice this as well, but were too relieved that the ritual was over with to bother being disappointed. Not that they were disappointed. Okay, maybe a little.
"Oh thank goodness," Huey sighed happily as he gripped his swim trunks, and either didn't notice or ignoed his brothers' laughing at his obvious relief.
"Your eyes aren't glowing red anymore," Violet noted.
"Yeah. In fact, all your eyes aren't glowing anymore. They look kinda...normal," Webby added.
"You sound disappointed," Dewey teased, smiling at the girl's blush. "Don't worry, we are far from normal."
"Maybe you are, Duford. Hubert and I, however, are normal as can be. Or at least I am," Louie argued. Lena scoffed and shoved the duck's arm.
"Please. You're all magical beings we literally summoned. How is that normal?"
"Said one of three witches."
"Okay, guys, enough," Webby intervened. "Come on, let's go and find some towels to dry off."
Before Webby could get out of the pool, though, Dewey grabbed her by the waist and pulled her towards him.
"I was told there would be a party, remember? So let's party!" Dewey shouted. Everyone nodded in agreement as they turned to the screen and shouted in unison.
"Happy Halloween!"
"Nice job with the editing, Greenie. It actually turned out pretty good," Lena announced before she snatched the bowl of popcorn that laid beside Louie on the red ottoman. She was leaning against said ottoman, so she was unfortunately close enough to be swatted on the head by her boyfriend.
"You don't have to sound so surprised." Louie rolled his eyes in annoyance but a smile tugged on his face regardless.
"Yeah, yeah, editing is great, but what about my acting skills?" Dewey asked from the left side of the couch, a smug grin on his face. Then he glanced down at his girlfriend, who had laid her head down in his lap earlier on, and quickly added, "And of course, Webby's fantastic script was off the hook."
"Aw. It was a group effort, really." Webby blushed as she ducked her head. AN: Get it? Ducked her head? 'Cause she's a duck? Yeah...I'm not funny but pretend I am lol.
"True but it was your idea, Webbigail," Violet commented from her spot on the right side of the couch, snuggled up with Huey. She wasn't one for PDA but Violet couldn't deny the pleasant feeling it gave her to be so cozy with the red-clad triplet.
"Yeah, great idea, Webs. A perfect way to celebrate our first Halloween with all of us together," Huey said as he looked at his girlfriend fondly.
"It was pretty neat," Lena added in agreement while pushing Louie's arm away as he tried to grab the bowl. "Even when Pink went off-book."
"Can't believe you said 'and a partridge in a pear tree'. It's a Halloween film, not a Christmas one." Louie snickered slightly.
"Ironic considering she's the one who wrote the script," Lena smirked as she high-fived her boyfriend, who took the opportunity to snatch back the popcorn.
"I couldn't help myself!" Webby exclaimed. "Who knows when I'll get another opportunity to sing a three, two, one count down? Especially one that goes along with Twelve Days of Christmas."
"But this is a Halloween film, not a Christmas one," Lena argued playfully.
"Hey, it's called 'creative' license. I think you did great." Dewey reassured her, playing with Webby's hair. She flushed slightly again but smiled up at the middle triplet.
"We all did," Huey interjected before anyone began to fight. Then his face flushed slightly as he thought about what he and his brothers wore in the film. Or rather, what they didn't wear. "But...let's all agree to keep this film to ourselves."
"Obviously," Louie drawled "I doubt Mom or Uncle Donald would want to know about how we literally stood in front of our girlfriends in our birthday suits. Or Uncle Scrooge."
"I gotta say I'm a little surprised you were the one to suggest that, Vi," Lena said as she thought back to the moment when Webby had suggested making a short film. The small group had all finally agreed on a concept when Violet came up with the idea of having the boys wear nothing. Their reactions were priceless.
Huey's face became the same color as his shirt while he stared at the hummingbird in shock as if he was waiting for her to say "psyche"! But we all know Violet doesn't joke around. And even if she did, the girl would never say 'psyche'.
Dewey hugged his knees while muttering nonsensical gibberish, yet had a smile on his face, his body language insinuating he hadn't quite decided whether he liked the idea or thought it was the worst thing he'd ever heard.
Webby actually fainted, her eyes resembling that of an anime girl's "dizzy eyes" with her face as pink as her bow. It had taken a few minutes to revive her, only for the duck to swoon again after remembering why she had passed out the first time.
Louie...well Lena wasn't sure what he did as she couldn't see the youngest's face after he pulled his hood on. Lena swore that she saw a hint of red but she couldn't be sure.
As for herself, Lena thought it made perfect sense. Contrary to what Scrooge believed, magic wasn't always a shortcut. Sure, magic worked in mysterious ways but it didn't do everything for you. Like provide clothes for three ducks that you decided to summon.
In truth, while the boys did in fact have nothing there, the girls had the camera angled so that it looked like the young witches saw more than they did (although that doesn't mean they didn't get a decent look ;) AN: Trying to make this kid-friendly but epically failing.
"It wouldn't have made sense anyway. We didn't put anything in the cauldron that would allow them to materialize with clothes on." Violet stated, basically saying
"She's got a point," Webby said. "And the movie was good, so who cares if we were all a little embarrassed?"
"Besides," Lena grinned wickedly as she looked up at Louie, who frowned in confusion, clearly unsure as to what she was going to say. "I sure didn't mind the view."
Louie's mouth dropped open, face turning a shade of red that rivaled every blush featured in the movie. He stammered while blinking his eyes rapidly, clearly taken aback.
Dewey and Huey laughed at their brother's embarrassment, quickly followed by their girlfriends, and Lena was practically howling.
Lena used Louie's surprise to her advantage and took back the popcorn bowl and stood up so he couldn't steal it back. Ohe of the perks of being taller than all her friends: she can keep anything she wants out of their reach.
"You're not wrong there," Violet commented slyly, a similar grin on her face. "I certainly liked what I saw."
"Can't argue with that," Webby mimicked the other girls' mischievous smiles.
The three girls burst into giggles as their respective boyfriends' faces turned crimson red, Louie's blush somehow got even redder than before.
Eventually, Lena took pity on the youngest triplet and sat beside him on the ottoman, putting the popcorn bowl on the floor. "Aw, I didn't mean to break you, Greenbean."
"Well you did," Louie huffed after he took a moment to compose himself.
"Guess I should fix that, huh?" Lena asked as she kissed Louie, a little longer than she had in the movie. Then she cuddled up to him. Louie wrapped his arms around her and kissed Lena again.
"Get a room!" Dewey called out, only to find himself being kissed as well. And since Violet apparently follows the motto of "majority rules" Huey got kissed too.
The group spent the rest of the night cuddling, watching Halloween movies, and exchanging kisses with their significant others.
All in all, Halloween in McDuck Manor certainly made for an interesting evening.
