The Cassadine Five: behind the curtain

The five most famous Cassadines of all perhaps had their origins in depressing backgrounds, as in the case of Mikkos Cassadine.

1. Before he was Mikkos, he was Miklos

Mikkos Ivanovich Cassadine, stage name of Miklos Knopfler, a Hungarian Jewish shadowmaster. Born in August 1922, his real parents were surprisingly ableist.

Both parents, who were Hungarian Jews living in southern Poland, and whose seven previous children left them behind, were a sickly couple of street mates. They were named Milcho and Eren Knopfler. They hated him a lot due to his ugliness. As a result, they abandoned him on a cold night in 1930. He was really sick of both parents.

Meanwhile, mobster Eugenius Cassadine adopted him into the Cassadine family, who technically aren't aristocrats but may have been avid fans of aristocracy. They actually loved him and cared for him. After Helena's birth, he grew more boorish, but still retained sympathy even for his sworn brothers Victor and Tony.
