Chapter One

7:00 PM
Jack was annoyed by the phone call he had just received, as it was supposed to be his day off and someone was calling him about a crime scene he should check out. He had just finished having a day with his daughters and was hoping to go home and relax but no luck there.
'No rest for the weary, that's for sure.' Jack thought to himself thinking about the case he and pretty much the entire FBI working on the case just recently.
He and the team had just wrapped up a massive case that draining not just on them but also for everyone in the country. The FBI, in coordination with multiple other agencies, took down a huge human trafficking ring and it was found that multiple powerful people, including high-ranking politicians, were involved.
For Jack, the worst part was that he knew some of the people who were involved with the human trafficking, one of them being what he thought was an amazing FBI agent who helped him and his team solve some really tough cases and it was something that he hadn't stopped thinking about since.
'And that is not even the worst part in all of this.' Jack thought sadly to himself
The case also took a toll on him because it turned out one of the companies involved was where his ex-wife worked and his daughters were devastated even though his ex still insists that she had nothing to do with it but she is still being investigated and the girls refuse to talk to her or talk about still, but Jack doesn't plan on talking to them about it, as he doesn't want to have that fight with him and he himself isn't sure what to make of what his ex's involvement and he recused himself from that part of the investigation so that there aren't more problems with the case.
'No matter what had happened between us, I never wanted anything like this to happen since it may cost the girls their mother.' Jack thought as the girls were in good spirits during the dinner but he could tell they were still dealing with the possibility of their mother being involved in the ring.
These revelations lead to many resignations, and multiple reviews of many cases, due to the fact some of the people involved were prosecutors as well, making the prosecution all the more difficult in the last few months. Luckily for many involved, they were able to find several clean prosecutors and judges and sentencing will soon start in the next couple days.
'A massive undertaking, and at the price of losing several months worth of sleep, some friendships and we may be able to not have a case like this for awhile, I hope as I am not sure I can go through that for a long time.'
When Jack reached the destination that the caller told him to go to, he immediately realized that something was up, as he didn't see any body the dispatcher told him about and it suddenly hit him.
'I've been set up!' Jack thought
It was too late for that thought as he was suddenly tasered and knocked unconscious and taken into a black van.
