Chapter 1
Hawks gently stepped on the window sill of his office and entered the building. His interns purposely left it open for they knew that he would sometimes return through that window instead of using the entrance door. As soon as he entered the office, he jumped on the nearby sofa and released an exhausting groan simultaneous with the drop.
"Today was a long, tiring day~" he muttered to himself as he placed his chin on the back of the sofa while flopping his heavy arms beside him. With his half-opened eyelids, not wanting to exert another unnecessary action, he shifted his golden eyes upwards and stared the clock that is hanging just above their entrance door. Though it is few meters apart from where he is relaxing, Hawks was able to read the time, thanks to all his keen vision.
"It's already 7:30 p.m. huh…" after realizing the current time, he thought that he worked too hard today. Releasing another sigh, Hawks lightly pushed the sofa before him then hopped himself on the ground then walked towards the window he used to enter a while ago while inserting his hands inside his pockets. He loves high places and his office holds a perfect view to at least watch the city he is protecting. Warm lights from different restaurants and homes, laughter of high school students were heard while walking down the streets, cars and different kinds of vehicles are crossing and passing by one another without any sign of accident and many more he can observe this simple yet beautiful scenery every day which never fails him to smile even in his most tiring day just like today.
But his smile disappeared when he recalled the activities he had for these past few weeks.
League of Villains- an organization made up of powerful villains that threatens to destroy the Hero society. The one who stands as their leader is Shigaraki Tomura followed by his skilled subordinates, like Twice, HImiko Toga and Dabi. They even created a mysterious artificially modified monsters, Nomu, which is a troublesome monster that gives headache to all heroes. According to the government elites, it seemed like the League of Villains begun another suspicious move, but since they do not have enough information about them, they needed to send someone to work as an undercover agent to investigate their activities. Meeting was conducted only between the high officials of Hero Public Safety Commissions and at the end of their meeting, they decided that Hawks is the best hero in taking this risky job.
Hawks was adamant at first, but he had a dream. 'A society where the heroes can enjoy a little boredom' a life where they could just have a peaceful patrol time in their city and he promised to himself that he will fulfill that dream as soon as possible. In the end, he offered his bow towards the officials, placing his one arm behind his back while the other arm before his chest.
"I shall gladly accept your request and fulfill it with the best of my abilities" he said, even though he knew that he will be staining his hands in the near future.
Hawks is just too fast for everything. He obtains information even though some information weren't announced yet in the public. He seemed to be mastering his quirks pretty well that even a single feather of his wings has the capability to feel the vibration and breath of people which will also serve as a listening device when he will be acting as a spy. He can even protect the citizens from accidents and attacks from villain without pouring a single bead of sweat just by manipulating his wings and even without them looking. No wonder the officials will choose him to work as an undercover agent.
For now, he was only able to meet Twice, who is responsible for recruiting new members, and Dabi. Hawks' already laid his eyes upon Dabi from their first meeting for just by looking at his appearance, he could tell that he isn't just an ordinary villain like the criminals he catches every day. He also took a great notice when he learned about Twice's ability, but fortunately for him, it seemed like Twice is suffering a mental problem which makes him afraid to handle his ability. Hawks just prayed that Twice will not regain his mental stability or else he will become a troublesome enemy for the heroes.
Just like he expected, the villain, especially Dabi, wouldn't just let him meet Shigaraki and the rest of his crew. Well, of course, they are also precautious in everything, plus he is ranked 3 among the hero association and probably will become the top 2 soon due to the retirement of All Might. At least, Dabi promised that he will be calling him again, though he is still skeptic about Hawks sudden request to let him join the league.
There was another thing that bothered Hawks. It is a book that is currently popular among the teenagers and young adults, entitled 'Metahuman Liberation Warfront'. His instinct tells him that it is somehow connected with the current movements of the League of Villains. He needed to uncover them all so that he could inform to his fellow heroes. He does not know why but ever since he started to work as an undercover agent, uneasiness started to surge inside him and he hated that feeling.
Hawks then gazed the full moon that gives a dim yet beautiful moonlight in the night sky. "I guess this acting game will take around 3-5 months…" he said to himself, already imagining the possible time period he will be spending and acting as a villain and troublesome spy agent. Just thinking about it gives him another heavy weight of responsibility, which he hated the most.
Another sigh of exasperation was released between from his lips and placed his yellow visor above his head then pinched his nose bridge, trying to ease his headache he acquired from stress.
"H-Hawks?"
The sudden voice he heard from the entrance door caught him off guard. When he gazed towards that direction, he saw Tsukuyomi holding documents on his right hand.
"I knocked the door but no one answered so I thought nobody was inside… I apologize for entering without your permission" Tsukuyomi expressed his apology. Hawks just stared at him for a brief moment then immediately wore his yellow visor again and smiled.
"No problem, Tsukuyomi, it's my fault that I did not notice your knock anyway" he said with his usual carefree smile. "You work so hard, don't you? It's already 7:40 p.m. but why are you still in the office?"
"I needed to finish my report tonight because I will be going back to U.A. tomorrow morning" Tsukuyomi replied after closing the door behind him. When the intern mentioned that line, Hawks gasped and gave a surprise look towards his intern.
"You are going back already?!" Hawks reacted as he grasped Tsukuyomi's shoulders. "Eh, come on man, stay in my agency longer" and begun bleating like a kid, which troubles his intern every time he will act like that way.
"It's a rule, Hawks. And I need to catch up my lessons as well" Tsukuyomi replied then handed out the documents to Hawks. He then stood straight before his mentor and offered his small bow. "Thank you very much for your guidance throughout my internship here in your office. I promise to become a better hero when we will meet again"
Hearing those words, Hawks expression turned bright again and smirked. Flash of memories run inside his head from the first internship of Tsukuyomi until the scene where he remembered that his intern was clutching his teeth to catch him up during the patrol hours.
All of a sudden, an epiphany fell upon Hawks then he looked towards his intern.
"Tsukuyomi"
"Yes, Hawks?"
"Do you still remember my words I told you before when I gave you a night flight?"
His intern nodded and replied. "Of course. You told me that I should not just focus on giving my effort to cover my weak points but also not to neglect to improve my strong points"
"Right. And since tonight will be your last day, I am thinking of giving you a special training- now" then showed his enigmatic grin. Tsukuyomi recoiled back in surprise. He did not even expect a bit that Hawks will be giving one-on-one training to him.
"N-now?" Tsukuyomi stuttered, still not recovered from his surprise. Hawks just gave his smile again and nodded.
"Yes, now~" he drawled and smirked. "It is a gift from I, the current number 3 hero and going to be number 2 hero can give it to you this time, Tsukuyomi. You should be honored that I was the one who suggested for a special training for you. OR-" he emphasized the word 'or' before he continued speaking. "You don't want to because you are already exhausted?" he jeered, giving his sly grin that makes Tsukuyomi even more confuse at the same time annoyed.
From the very beginning, Tsukuyomi couldn't understand nor catch up what his mentor is thinking, but, knowing that this big chance will never come again, Tsukuyomi pressed all his questions inside his head then fixed his composure. "No, I will gladly accept your offer, Hawks. And thank you very much despite with your busy schedule".
Contented with his reply, Hawks tapped Tsukuyomi's shoulder. "Well then Tsukuyomi, change your clothes to your hero costume and we'll begin our first and last training"
