Chloe
Chloe Park Rodriguez was sitting in her school's auditorium listening to the ninth graders give speeches. Her best friends; Harper Smalls and Avery McClellan were sitting on either side of her. Maddie Palledorous and Sophia Weeks were sitting in front. All the boys were sitting behind them. Timmy and Tommy Timmons were sitting at the end seats, then Michael "Squints" Palledorous, Alan "Yeah-Yeah" McClellan was sitting behind Chloe. He was always near her, they kinda had a thing but weren't dating. Benny Rodriguez was sitting behind Harper, then Kenny DeNunez, Bertram Weeks, and at the end was Hamilton Porter, most commonly called Ham.
The kids were sitting in the back of the room. For the final, the ninth graders have to give speeches about what they love the most. Benny was in the ninth grade and would be giving his speech next. A lady's heels clicked on the floor as she approached Chloe and the group.
"Chloe?" she bent down and whispered.
Chloe turned around, "Yes Mrs. Lowe?"
"Come to the office. Your mom is on the phone."
Chloe let out a long sigh. The same thing happened last year. Both her parents were actors. Last year they were in New York, this year they were in Hollywood. Chloe followed Mrs. Lowe into the office and picked up the phone.
"Hey, mom."
"Chloe my darling! I have excellent news!"
Curious Chloe held the phone closer to her ear.
"What?"
"Your father and I's production got pushed back and we thought it'd be a great idea to take you and Benny to Hollywood! And your friends too of course."
Chloe was speechless. That sounded like the best idea ever!
"Chloe? Are you there?"
Chloe found her tongue, "That sounds great!"
" I knew you'd like it. I'll call the other parents and make sure it's alright with them. "
"Okay!"
"I knew that you would like the idea!" Her mother beamed. "Now I need to go."
"Bye, mom!"
"Bye Chloe!"
With a nod from the staff, Chloe skipped back to the auditorium. She went and sat into her seat, Benny was giving his speech on baseball of course. Chloe snorted with disgust as the girls from the other classes were watching her brother. Benny was good looking, he was tall with tan skin, dark brown curly hair, and brown eyes.
"Hey, Chloe, What was that about?" Ham asked her.
Chloe turned to them, "My mom is going to take all of us to Hollywood this summer!"
"That's amazing!"
"Yeah Yeah!"
"This will be fun!"
"Do you think we'll get to be in movies?"
Chloe was about to answer them when one of the teachers got on stage.
"Chloe Rodreguez! Since you are so keen to talk during Benny's speech, why don't you come up here and tell everyone what is so important," the teacher ordered.
Chloe shrugged, "Okay."
She got up and walked onto the stage, Benny was standing off to the side shaking his head. Once she got up there, that's when the whistling started. Chloe was gorgeous, she knew it, Benny knew it, the teachers knew it, everyone knew it. Chloe was tall, skinny, with flawless brown skin, raven black hair, and beautiful brown eyes. Today she was wearing her mother's red dress, diamond earrings, and black flats, her hair was curled down her back.
The teacher that called Chloe up there cleared her throat, "Any day now Rodreguez."
Chloe leaned towards the microphone, "My mother decided to take me, my brother, and my friends to Hollywood this summer!"
Everyone went silent, the teacher that tried to humiliate her facepalmed. Benny sided over to his younger sister.
"Chloe! Really? You had to tell everyone that we're going to Hollywood?"
She shrugged, "The teacher told me to."
A teacher came to usher Chloe off stage but Chloe felt like she had to say something else.
Chloe wiggled out of the teacher's grip, "Hold on, I need to say something else."
She walked back up to the microphone, "Girls!"
All the girls leaned forward, thinking that Chloe was going to invite them to Hollywood.
"Quit staring at my brother."
Laughter erupted as the girls that were previously staring at Benny lowered their heads. Benny shook his head but Chloe could see the faintest of smiles on his lips. The teacher came back to drag Chloe away, Chloe didn't care she was done anyways. As she started walking to her seat she could feel the eyes of people staring at her.
"Quit staring at my sister!"
Chloe turned around shocked and saw Benny at the microphone. She smiled and laughed. Suddenly a large black and brown shape ran into the auditorium, screams erupted. The black figure ran at Chloe but Chloe just snapped her fingers and the shape sat down.
"Axel! How'd you get out this time?"
"Chloe! Get away from it before it attacks you!" Mrs. Lowe ordered.
"He won't attack me, he's my dog."
She bent down to pet her six-year-old rottweiler.
"If he's your dog than you need to take him home."
Squints stood up, "By the time she gets back school will be over."
"Yeah," Harper agreed. "Why not have him stay here with Chloe."
"Besides, even if Chloe could take him home, he'd just get out again," Kenny pointed out.
The teachers eyed the dog, "Chloe he can stay but promise he won't attack the other students."
"He won't attack unless I tell him to," Chloe answered.
"Don't tell him to attack anyone."
Chloe agreed than sat down in her seat, pleased that the gang stood up for her dog. Then a kid leaned over from his seat.
"Hey Chloe, I'll go to Hollywood with you. Get rid of Yeah-Yeah and hang out with me instead."
"Shut your mouth, Phillips! I'd rather marry a spider!"
He leaned closer and dropped his voice to a whisper, "If you could find a spider that wanted to marry you."
Sensing his owner's distress, Axel started growling. Chloe put her hand on her dog's head and he slowly calmed down. Yeah-Yeah's arm snaked around Chloe's shoulders.
"Go away Phillips and leave Chloe alone," Ham almost yelled.
"Yeah-Yeah!"
"She hates you!"
"Back off!"
Phillips didn't move till Benny showed up. One look from Benny, Phillips raises her arms and left. Once Phillips was gone, Chloe shrugged off Yeah-Yeah's arm. The whole gang shared a look.
They were going to Hollywood!
