Chapter 1: Inside And Out
Five-year-old Liza Marie Anderson was in her bed holding forty-three-year-old Noah Puckerman who was having a PTSD episode when she whispers, "Papa, Dada, wake up Uncle Nono is having another bad dream! Wake up, please!" After this Burt Hummel comes into her room with Quinn before Noah starts to scream, "No, God, Please stop! I'll do whatever you want just please stop! I'm not gay! Please, no more needles!" Then Liza says, "Uncle Nono, wake up, please! The bad men are gone, and you're home with your Little She-Hulk." After Liza Marie says this Noah slowly wakes up and starts to cry as he held Liza Marie.
By morning, Liza Marie is out of her bed playing with her dolls when Noah wakes up and says, "Liza Marie, Could you bring my wheelchair over here and lock the wheels. Sorry about last night it's just that ..." Then Liza Marie cuts him off as she says, "I know, Uncle Nono, and you talked about the bad men hurting your butt again. After G' Pa Burt and Auntie Queenie came in here. I was trying to get Dada and Papa in here, but I guess after getting hit in the balls three nights in a row. They sent G' Pa in here and Auntie Queenie must have been the one I heard going to the bathroom. Don't worry you didn't hit G' Pa you were just screaming, and I held you until you calmed down. Plus, you're in your boxers because you peed in your diaper and no I didn't look at your winky. Ha, I lied to G' Pa this morning and said I peed the bed too. Let's just say you rolled off the bed when he walks in, and he helped me change my sheets after he helped put your boxers on."
Then Liza Marie started to cry before asking, "Why did you want to be here with me? You could be sleeping with Auntie Queenie. Why would you want to be with someone that is sick and could die?!" This made Noah say, "Liza Marie when I am with you I feel safe! Okay?! I am over forty and only a five-year-old little girl makes me feel safe! It's because of you I don't want to hurt myself anymore! Liza Marie, I am afraid to be with Aunt Quinn because I think those bad men will hurt me! I know those men are dead but I can't stop thinking they will come and kill me! They broke my legs and hurt me for weeks! By the way, I know you were dreaming about what happened to me because Grandpa Burt told me." Then Noah picks Liza Marie up and puts her on his lap while saying, "Liza Marie, you saved me. Okay?"
Soon Noah is wheeling himself and Liza Marie into the living room. When they see everybody wiping away tears and Quinn says, "Why didn't you tell me, Puck? I know Liza Marie is your friend here but you could've told me what was going on. " Then Liza Marie says as she looks at the others "Uncle Nono tried to tell you, Auntie Queenie, but you kept changing the subject! Just like Dada and Papa do when I would talk about the fact I am dying! Plus, Uncle Nono is not the only one that tried to hurt himself!" Soon Liza Marie pushed her sleeves on her nightgown up and showed Quinn scars on her wrists before saying, " Uncle Nono is the only one that makes me feel safe! Even when, he, is having a nightmare and I'm the one holding, him! Plus, I like the fact he tells me what I need to hear! We are both scared and I think it's crazy that Uncle Nono is as scared as a little kid, because, some bad men hurt his butt! Plus, I heard G' Pa tell Auntie Queenie that Uncle Nono needs to be in a hospital! Ha, yeah, right, he needs to be in a place with needles that scare him, talking to someone that is paid to care! When he has friends and family that aren't being paid to care! I bet he still thinks that him being here was Dada's idea! it was, my idea, because, I knew I was the only one that made him feel safe!" Then Liza Marie goes to the kitchen to grab two bananas and two glasses of milk. Handing them to Noah before she takes him back to her room and slams the door.
Then Blaine says, "She's right, Puck needs us and all we want to do is. Put him in a place that, could do more harm than help." Then Quinn says, "Blaine, Liza Marie is only five and we are harming Puck by not putting him in a hospital. We can't help Puck and Liza Marie being here is harming her. She is dying and needs to be in a hospital getting chemotherapy!" Then they hear the door to Liza Marie's room open before she storms in saying, "Me and Uncle Nono aren't deaf assholes! Plus, Auntie Queenie, I did do the chemotherapy and it didn't help! I got sicker not better! By the way, that place Uncle Nono was in, before he came here made him a zombie! He wasn't getting better or worse, he was just numb and didn't feel shit! Which was how I felt when I was doing chemo!" After Liza Marie says this she faints and Noah is wheeling himself over to her saying, "God, Liza Marie, please don't die on me now!"
As Liza Marie woke up in the hospital and saw she was sharing a room with Noah. At first, she was pissed, but when she noticed Quinn was the one with an I.V. in her arm and not Noah. This made her start to cry as she says, "I'm sorry, Auntie Queenie for how I acted. Did I hurt the baby?" Then Noah says to her, "No, Liza Marie, you didn't hurt the baby, but Aunt Quinn is asleep like Sleeping Beauty. She has a bad heart like Grandpa Burt and it hurt her brain too." Soon she sees Burt help Noah get back into his wheelchair and saw Blaine walking in with Quinn's parents.
When Liza Marie saw Quinn's parents come up to her bed instead of Quinn's she turned her back to them and said, "Don't tell me it's not my fault! I tried to tell her Uncle Nono and me didn't need to be in a hospital! Now, she's laying in a hospital bed, because, of a bad heart. Just like G' Pa Burt did when Dada was a boy! Uncle Nono could lose his soulmate and it's all my fault!" Noah yells, "Bullshit! Liza Marie, Quinn knew there was a risk of this happening before she got pregnant and I knew this hospital was the best thing for her or me. Look, I didn't want to come here for my bad dreams and bedwetting. You were an awesome helper but Liza Marie I want to get better."
Soon Liza Marie screams, "Get out of here, all of you! Let me die in peace!" As Burt goes over to sit next to her bed and Noah wheels his wheelchair next to the chair he sat in. Then Blaine says, "Puck, I called Shelby and she is bringing Beth." Before whispering, "I'm hoping Beth will talk some sense into her. I know you want Liza Marie to live as much as I do and Quinn told me she hoped we could be inlaws someday." This just makes Liza Marie cry herself to sleep, but not before she heard Noah say, "I hope Quinn will live long enough to see that, because, I know, Liza Marie has a crush on me. Ha, she gave her Hulk doll a Mohawk and calls it Lil Puck. Anyways, Blaine, man, I heard you tell Kurt once that Liza Marie called me Papa. Ha, I think I would be like Burt was even if Beth was still my daughter." Then Burt says, " Yeah but I bet you would have a machine gun instead of a shotgun, Puck. Blaine, son, does Liza Marie know Puck is her godfather?" Blaine replies saying, "If she is still awake she does now." Soon Liza Marie is asleep and dreaming about marrying the Hulk.
When Liza Marie wakes up she heard Noah crying and say to someone, "You said she could get better! What about my son?" Then she hears another man say, "Mr. Puckerman, I'm sorry but there is no hope. Even if we take him out now there is a chance he won't make it. I mean we could keep Quinn alive long enough to carry him to term, but ..." Then Noah says, "Do whatever it takes to save my son! I don't want to lose him too!" Then Burt says, "I'll help with the costs." And Quinn's father said, "Burt, you don't have to do that I can help Puck too." Before she says, "Papa, can't we help too? I don't want Uncle Nono to lose my future husband neither." Then they all laugh before Blaine says, "Okay, Liza Marie, We'll help too. Besides, I want you to be a Puckerman too." Then Quinn starts to thrash around before her heart monitor started going off.
