Episode 1
Lucy found Henry Mills in Seattle Washington. She told him that she was his daughter, but he didn't believe her. Henry was much older, in his 30s now.
"We are your family. And it's not just me and my mom." Lucy said. She followed him around his apartment, tying to convince him of the truth. "You have two moms and two sisters."
"Impossible. I'm an only child." Henry said.
"It is possible. It's true." Lucy said. "You have a huge family. The curse separated everyone. Lyra and Leia aren't in Hyperion Heights, but if you come to my home, maybe they'll return."
Henry chuckled at the thought. "My book is fiction. I made it up. These characters aren't real." Henry said. It was very clear that he didn't believe.
Lucy left his apartment, feeling defeated. She held his laptop in her hand as walked down the steps of the complex. She walked down to the light rail station, and stepped on board, heading back to her home, Hyperion Heights.
Henry didn't notice his laptop was gone when he began his Swift shift the night. His first rider was about a mile away at a park.
The rider was sitting on the curb, holding his phone in hand. He had a small satchel around his shoulder. He wore a thin shirt and worn out jeans. No jacket. He was missing two fingers on one hand.
Henry looked down at the map on his car showing the temperature outside. It was 52 degrees. He pulled over towards the curb.
The rider stood up and approached the car. He got in the back seat. The dim lighting in the car made it hard to see his face clearly.
"Billy Martin?" Henry asked.
The passenger nodded. He was younger than Henry. Maybe 19 years old.
"Where to?" Henry asked his back seat passenger.
"Hyperion Heights." The rider said.
Henry brought his eyebrows together for a moment before driving down the street. The street lights illuminated the car as Henry drove by them, revealing the rider to be Will Parry.
As Henry drove the car on the free way, he asked the back seat passenger, "What's in Hyperion Heights?"
"Home." He said. "At least I hope so."
Henry looked at his passenger through the rear view mirror. "What does that mean?"
Will shook his head. "It's complicated."
Henry looked down at the digital clock In his car. "It looks like it will be a half hour before we get there."
"That place just calls to me." Will said.
Will saw Henry smile awkwardly through the rear view mirror.
Will tilted his head. "Does it call to you?"
Henry looked back at him through the mirror, with a very confused expression on his face.
Will got out of Henry's car, planting his feet in Hyperion Heights. He smiled upon arriving in town. The drop off was near the troll bridge of Seattle. "Really hope this is the right place." Will said, skeptically.
He started down the block, almost immediately running into Tilly. She was walking around the corner when he walked by.
He took a step back. "Woah-" he saw her face, with the help of a dimly lit street lamp. "Alice!?" Will asked. His eyes widened in surprise. He smiled and stepped closer to her.
Tilly backed up, looking puzzled. "No, my name's Tilly." She walked past him.
Will turned his head back to her as she walked down the block. She looked right through him. She didn't recognize him...
"This is the right place." He said to himself. A grin grew on his face.
The next day in Hyperion Heights, Henry drove back to town to retrieve his laptop. As he walked up to Roni's, he came across a young homeless man sitting on the sidewalk, shaking a paper cup. "Spare change?"
Henry glanced at the man. He was much younger then Henry, in his early to mid 20s. He wore a beanie, torn jeans, and other used clothes.
Henry checked his wallet. He had a few singles but looked back over to the man. Henry pulled out a $10 bill. "Here you go." He said, handing it over to him.
"Thank you." The man said, seeming genuinely grateful.
Will Perry continued to tour the town of Hyperion Heights the next morning, after waking up on a bench. There were so many people in the town he did not recognize.
He came across the police station, and crossed the street. He saw Hook- or someone who looked like Hook come out of the station in an officer's uniform. "Hook?" Will asked, staring at the man from across the street. He narrowed his eyes, thinking about it. "Or the other guy - Nook."
Will didn't dwell on it for long. He quickly walked down the block, gaining some distance from the police station.
Will turned a corner and came up to a place called Roni's. He walked into the establishment curiously. Once he saw Regina, he smiled and walked inside quicker. "Hey."
"Hey?" She said. "I need to see you ID before I can serve you."
Will looked around the place. The long counter across the room. The drinks up on the shelves behind the counter. The set up of the chairs. It was a bar.
He put his satchel up on the counter. It made a small thud from the small Harry Potter key-chain on it. He rummaged through it for his ID. The best he could find was a school ID, saying that he was in 12th grade and the year 2017 on it. It also had his fake name on it: "Billy." He sighed and closed his bag. "I don't have it."
Regina, or Roni's face turned serious. "Get out."
"Regina." Will tried.
"Who's Regina?" She asked. "It's Roni. Now get out before someone sees you in here." She was expecting Ms. Belfrey to come by anytime to buy the bar. She practically owned the town and could get Roni in a lot a trouble for having an under-aged person in her bar.
Will grabbed a couple of peanuts in the bowl and left the bar. He ate some right outside and saved some for later.
By nightfall, Will had finished searching the town. He sat at the bench again, and opened up his satchel. Inside was a journal, a wallet, lots of snacks, a dead phone, and a pencil bag.
He took out his journal and made notes about his findings.
Still no sign of Lyra or Hope. Lena isn't here either. I've seen Alice, Regina, and Roland. I'm worried about them. I'm also worried about my knife. What if someone else finds it and figures out what it can do? I lost two fingers for the knife. What price will I pay to get it back?
Will packed up his few belongings and started walking down the block to a place more comfortable.
"Spare change?" Roland/"Hunter" asked him. He was sitting on the sidewalk.
Will looked down at his friend in another world. "Sorry man." He said. "I don't have anything."
Roland/ "Hunter" looked up at him. "You and me both."
Will chuckled to himself. He sat down on the concrete by him. "Actually I have some snacks, if you want to share."
"Sure." Roland/Hunter said. His face lit up.
Will took out two granola bars. He handed one to him.
They each unwrapped the bar. Will touched Roland/Hunter's granola bar with his bar, as if to say 'cheers.'
"I'm Hunter." He introduced himself.
"Will. Will Parry."
