Before continuing please know that this will deal with the very real issue of suicide. I was rewatching the first episode and felt like the whole see with Bakugou and Midoriya was kinda glossed over. So I wanted to write a fic about what would happen should Midoriya go through the same experiences with a more realistic setting. This is probably the only fic I'll be doing like this and I will also just overview what happened and try to not make this depressing.P.s I will have the next chapter of "Nameless" out later in the day and more at the bottom.

"If you really want to be a hero that badly there's probably one way to do it"

Turning around Bakugou sneered down at Izuku before a malicious glint shines in his eyes.

"Believe you'll be born with a quirk in your next life and take a swan dive off the roof"

Laughing the trio of bullies were making their way out of the classroom before stopping at a whisper.

"...maybe I will"

"What did you say?"

Turning around the trio are wide eyed and panicked at what they had heard. Walking towards the open window where Bakugou had thrown his hero notebook out of Izuku began climbing on the ledge.

"Oi oi oi. What do you think you're doing Deku!?"

The bullies were unable to move in both shock of what Izuku was doing and fear of what might actually happen.

"I'm just taking your advice Kaachan"

With tears streaming down his face Izuku faced his tormentors for one final time. Slowly he began to let go of the wall a single finger at a time.

"I'll see you around Kaachan"Putting on his best and brightest smile Izuku 'Deku' Midoriya plummets to his death.

"Dekuuuuuuu!"

Hearing a loud meaty *THUD* the trio race towards the window and looked down at a sight that would haunt them for their lives.

Unable to say anything nor look away they mindlessly stared at the dying corpse of their victim, only being knocked out of their stupor by the scream of a group of students who had unfortunately stumbled upon the body.

Shizuoka General Hospital

"I'm sorry ma'am but there's nothing else we could do. We've managed to close and treat the wound but he's lost too much blood. As of now your son only has a few moments left, if there's anything left you wish to say to him now is the time"

Inko Midorya never imagined she'd ever be in this situation. Staring at her son she shakily made her way towards him.

"Izuku?"

She didn't expect a response but she hoped that she'd at least be able to stir something in him. Maybe he'd wake up and smile? Tell her he loved her and that he'd be okay? Maybe ev- No. Staring at her son she knew this was it. She understood that in a few moments her baby boy would perish. And so she said the only thing that she could think of say.

"I'm so sorry Izuku! I'm so sorry... sorry sorry sorry..."

The mother wailed and wailed on her sons chest blocking out everything around her. Not even noticing the loud continuous beep of the machine nor the hospital staff trying to calm her down.

(10 minutes earlier outside the hospital room)"

"...only has a few moments left, if there's anything left you wish to say to him now is the time"

Katsuki Bakugou had royally fucked up. As he approached the door to De- Izuku's hospital room he heard the last part of whatever the doctor was explaining. And that was enough to tell him all he needed to hear. From those words he knew that his former childhood best friend had died, and it was his fault.

"...uki. Katsuki. Katsuki! KATSUKI BAKUGOU"

Jumping several steps back Bakugou looked up to see his mother and father with frustrated and worried expressions respectively.

"I've been trying! to talk to you for nearly 5 minutes! What the hell happened? Why is Izuku in the hospital?"

After her initial outburst Mitsuki Bakugou calmed herself before going over the last hour of events. She and her husband were cooking dinner when they got a call from the hospital asking them to come down to the general hospital. They were informed of an accident involving Izuku and promised to share more information when they arrived. However upon arriving all they were told was that their son was already here and waiting for them in Izuku's room. Quickly making her way to said room they were confused and nervous at the sight of their son spacing out in front of the door with a look of dread.

Taking a moment to center herself once more Mitsuki gently placed both hands on Katsuki's shoulders in order to pull him or of whatever funk he was in.

"Katsuki what happened? We aren't angry, we just need to know what happened"

The gentle tone of his mother seemed to have clicked something in Katsuki. In a flash he was hugging, gripping, his mother like his life depended on it. This only further solidified the fact that something truly horrible had happened to Izuku. She could feel the tears stain her shirt and the violent way he tried to suppress his sobs. Mitsuki Bakugou never ever thought she would see her son look so broken. Turning slightly to the side Mitsuki saw her husband, Masaru, speaking with a doctor, most likely about Izuku. Once finished he walked back to them only to pull them both into a hug. In a hushed tone he began to explain everything to her.

"Izuku was found lying at the side of the school in a pool of his own blood."

The moment those words left her husband's mouth, Mitsuki's blood ran cold. She was always suspicious of her sons involvement in the bullying of Izuku Midoriya but she never was able to truly tell.

"They were able to heal the injury to his head but he's lost too much blood. He only has a-"

Whatever Masaru was about to say was lost in the sea of wails coming from the room. Immediately several of the hospital staff began rushing into Izuku's room. To the Bakugou family it all felt like a dream. Watching people trying to remove their Inko from the room, several machines and equipment being hauled in and out of the room, the loud continuous beep emitting in the background. The sight before them pained their hearts so much that they almost didn't react at the staff attempting to get their attention.

"Excuse me but are you the Mr. and Mrs. Bakugou?"

Turning their heads slightly to face the nurse Mitsuki could only nod, not trusting her voice at the moment.

"Wonderful now could you please console Mrs. Midoriya. The doctors can't work if she is in the room so please for the sake of her boy attempt to calm her down"

Before they could even respond Inko was being led towards the family. Finally removing herself from her son Mitsuki shakily made her way towards Inko, who was still trying to get past the staff blocking the room.

"Inko?"

"..."

"Inko it's me, Mitsuki"

"..."

After pulling on the Inko's shoulder she finally turned to look at her, and the sight before her broke whatever pieces of her heart were still intact. While Inko looked distraught overall, it was her eyes that told a whole story. Her forest green orbs spoke of heartache, unimaginable pain, regret, inadequacy, but most importantly irreparable damage of her heart.

"I'm so sorry Inko"

Only being able to apologize Mitsuki pulled her friend into a tight embrace like her son had done. However Inko did not hug back. She couldn't. After finally feeling the embrace of another person she lost all strength in her body, causing both mothers to fall to kneel to ground.

"He's gone. He's actually gone. My poor boy. My sweet innocent baby boy is gone"

Eventually all that could be heard in the hospital halls was the wailing of two mothers.

Elsewhere

"You've got to wake up now"

Stirring slightly Izuku could only mumble.

"Five...more minutes...please"

"Wake up"

"..."

"Wake up!"

"..."

"Awaken!"

Immediately sitting up Izuku awoke to a familiar setting of a hospital or nurses office but with no recollection of how he ended up here. Looking to the clock mounted on the wall he saw it had been 3 hours since school had finished.

'Mom's gonna kill me!'

"Forgetting something?"

Turning his Izuku was equal parts scared and intrigued. Floating beside his bed was a pitch black silhouette? shrouded in black mist. They looked to be around his height and body type but he couldn't see any distinct features.

"Of course you can't. I'd be concerned if you could see me."

'Did it just read my thoughts?!'

"That is correct. But none of that mumbling or overthinking. Right now I need you to listen well and don't forget anything I tell you. I'm unsure of when we'll next meet so nod if you understand."

Quickly centering himself Izuku took a few shaky deep breaths before nodding at the figure.

"Good. Now then firstly it matters not who or what I am yet. The answers will come eventually. Secondly, you can't remember anything from the accident because I locked away certain memories because you are dead. Thir-"

Panic quickly shot through Izuku. His mind going a million miles a minute trying to comprehend the idea of being dead.

"W-wait what!? W-what do you mean I'm d-dead? Ican'tbedeadI'mclearlyinahospitalandbreathingandtalkingandverylivingan-"

"Silence"

Quickly shutting up Izuku tensed as the figure floated its way towards him putting its smoky hands on his shoulders.

"I need you to understand this and stay quiet so I can explain. You will know more when the time is right but for now just listen."

Despite the figure's scary appearance the tone of its voice almost sounded as distraught as Izuku felt. Steeling him emotions once more he nodded, intent on truly listening. Letting go of Izuku the figure opted to float sit in front of him.

"Good. Now yes you are dead but not in the way you think. Despite what you may think you do in fact have a quirk. It's called Afterlife."

'Afterlife'

"Your quirk gives you a second chance at your dreams. It's rather complicated quirk so I'll explain as best I can. Basically the memories leading up to your death have been locked away within your mind in order to protect you. Should you ever remember these memories one of three things will happen. 1. You will follow the emotion strongest in your heart in that current moment. 2. You will go on a rage and reek havoc upon whatever caused your death. 3. You will simply disappear. Nod if you understand"

Quickly taking a moment to go over the information he was given Izuku gave another nod. Obviously he wasn't as excited as he thought he'd be about having a quirk but found an odd sort of comfort in the idea that he was entirely dead nor truly alone in this.

"With that out of the way let's get to your abilities. Firstly you have to forms the one you have now or your 'base' form, and the form that I am taking"

"W-wait so are you my quirk?"

"In a way yes. But anyway there are only two difference with your second form, those being how you look and overall abilities you can use. By that I mean using your max potential, think of it like an ultimate form that you have to unlock."

"Unlock?"

"Yes. You just got your quirk so you have to cultivate and master it"

"I g-guess that makes s-sense"

"Good. Now as a byproduct of being undead you no longer have limitations on your physical capabilities. The brain subconsciously stops you from causing damage to yourself by limiting what you can exert. You probably know what that means"

"Inhuman strength, speed, a-and stamina?"

"Correct"

"A-and I no longer have to sleep do I?"

"You can on quick"

Smirking the figure look to clock causing Izuku to do the same.

'Wait. Not even a minute has passed?'

"Time moves differently within your mind"

"Th-that e-explains a lot actually"

"Moving forward you also have the ability to become invisible, phase through objects, and regenerate all physical damage. Think of it like a ghost."

"This a-all sounds a-a little too p-powerful?"

"Well it doesn't come with out its draw backs but we'll get to that. Finally you have the ability to become tangible"

Quickly thinking of the implications Izuku's eyes widened.

"So I can live a normal life again!?"

"In a way yes. You can continue to live on with your life but you can no longer age. The draw back of having such a power is not being entirely human anymore. And should you ever recover your memories you may cause more harm than good. For now you must be careful and master your quirk in order to help as many people as possible."

"Right!"

Izuku understood the implications of his current predicament, but he'd need time to fully accept and comprehend them. In what appeared to be a single day he went from a dead quirkless kid to an undead? powerful ghost? It was a lot to take in.

"Unfortunately I must be going now"

Quickly scrambling Izuku attempted to grab onto the now disappearing figure.

"Y-your j-just going t-to leave me?!"

"I have no say in the matter, but know that we will speak again and that I'll always be within your mind"

Once it had fully disappeared Izuku lied on the hospital bed before turning to the clock. It had only been a few minutes yet it felt like hours.

Alrightttt so I had the idea for this while writing my other fic "The Nameless" (shameless plug:D) and wanted to explore it. This sprouted from that so I hope you enjoy!

I already have the pairing, Izuku and Reiko Yanagi. I really enjoy rare ships and Reiko just fit really well for this. Not that I hate the original pairing but literally anyone else would build Izuku's character better.

I have a lot planned out but I do need help decided whether or not to give him One for All. It could work with or without him but I don't want to make it an Op Deku fic. I have another fic coming out for that. Please leave a review on your opinions

P.s The next chapter for Nameless should be out by tomorrow and I still need a beta reader.

P.p.s the app messed up the format for this chapter but it should be fixed now

Have a great day!:)
