"Okay, I can do this." Ryoko told herself standing on the outside of U.A. High School. She came to school early just to try and meet some of the other students before class started. She fixed her thick blue glasses which took up most of her face then felt her hair pins to make sure the ashen gray mass was relatively tame. Satisfied that everything was in order she then opened up a little planner with a kitten on the cover of it. Under the day's date was one goal written in bold letters: Make a new friend. She underlined it with a smile. "Today is the day! The start to my journey as a pro hero and making hero friends!" She cheered as she walked through the academy doors.

Everything felt like a dream come true when she threw the doors open to her future. "This is really happening!" She thought to herself. Then everything came to a crashing halt as she tripped over the very first stair and slammed into the floor below. Her glasses fell off and immediately she threw her hands up to cover her face. "No, no no! This can't be happening!" She panicked.

Behind her she could hear the sounds of other students starting to arrive. Using one hand to keep her eyes covered she frantically felt around for the glasses. Her cheek scales flushed scarlet and she could only hope her hair cover it. "Please be here." She begged. The sound of steps closed in around her as the students entered. One foot stepped on her hand and with a yelp she pulled it back. She felt her heart beat frantically in her chest as she dared to stick her hand out again.

Then a heavy set of footprints stopped next to her and she could hear someone bend down. "Are these yours?" A male voice asked.

She tilted her head in the direction of the sound and slowly extended her hand. The person placed the glasses into her palm. Words snagged in her throat as relief rushed over her. "Do you need help?" He asked.

Quickly she shook her head and stood up though her body still shook with embarrassment. She gave a quick bow to the man and turned away to put the glasses back on while keeping her head low. Without thinking she took off down the hallway and rushed into the girl's restroom. Once in there she locked herself in a stall and tried to recompose herself.

Immediately she buried her face back in her hands. "Idiot! I didn't even thank him! Why did I just run off like that?" She scolded herself. "Now he's going to think I'm weird and won't want to be friends with me!" She mumbled as she inspected the glasses for any signs of damage. "At least something is going right."

The the bell rang to announce that classes had started. "I'm going to be late!" She rushed out of the stall. In the reflection of the mirror she saw that the pins her mom had helped her with had fallen out during her accident, rendering her hair a wild mess that hung over most of her face. Ryoko hesitated at the thought of trying to fix it but heard the bell once more. "Darn it!" She took off running to class.

When she finally managed to find 1-A she poked her head around the door frame to see that the rest of her classmates were already seated or chatting. "I missed the introductions..." Her heart sank. "No, it's still the first day, I'll have plenty of time to make friends." She encouraged herself. "Just walk in there and be friendly!"

With that she stepped into the classroom to greet her future friends. For the second time that morning her foot snagged on something and she instead face planted in front of the whole class. The room went silent as all eyes now focused on her. "Ow..." She sat up slowly. She had been certain that there weren't any stairs in the room. Instead she saw a large yellow sleeping bag on the floor. "Uh..." The bag began to move as a head poke out.

"Ow." A man with shaggy hair complained.

"It's a person!" Someone in the class exclaimed. The the sleeping bag crawled to front of the class and stood up.

"I am your homeroom teacher Shota Aizawa and you all took 8 seconds too long to get ready." He started. "If you are hear to make friends then go home already, this is a hero course." He spoke bluntly. "And now, everyone outside. We're going to do a Quirk evaluation test."

The last sentence was met with a mixture of excitement and shock from the class. The other students filed out of the class to follow the teacher. Ryoko remained on the floor as the last student filed out. "First I trip in front of the whole school...then over the teacher... and now I have to use my Quirk..." She sighed and dragged herself up onto shaking legs. "This day can't get any worse..."
