It was a normal sunny day in the united tribe as alpha school was in session Kate was standing in front of her class who was in the middle of doing push ups unaware she was about to have an unwanted visitor in the form of her youngest son runt.
"Excellent boys and girls you're getting better every day."Kate said looking proudly at her class the pups finished their push ups and stood up straight. "Ok alphas the first rule of a hunt is to control your fears."kate said pacing back and forth Stinky stepped forward with a thought on his mind "Mom,we're the wolves they're the prey what do we have to fear?"
Claudette scoffed at her brother "Stinky is that mud on your snout or is it always brown?" Stinky gave his sister a sharp stare "Claudette shut it." Then he turned back to his mother "as future leader of the tribe..." "Supposed future leader of the tribe."claudette corrected in annoyance.
Stinky has always assumed he's going to be future leader of the tribe giving he was born 1 minute before claudette but that not technically true Claudette is also in the running to be future tribe leader however both of them posses the qualities of a good leader plus the choice is entirely up to Kate and Humphrey the only thing that could jeopardize either ones chances at being leader is that either of them do something extremely foolish or unforgivable.
"As future leader of the tribe i am Faster stronger.." "Clumsier."Claudette interrupted with a teasing smile causing stinky to scowl at her.
"Stinky,Claudette fear will always be natural everyone feels it including alphas however you must try to control it or it will destroy you."kate said looking at her pups stinky scoffed again "but mom again alphas are mighty and strong,what do we have to fear?"
"Natural disasters for one." Claudette mumbled
Kate stared at her eldest son crossing her arms "you know stinky you are surprisingly confident and brave for a pup your age,most times that's a good thing but sometimes it'll be the death of you or someone close to you because one day stinky one day you're going to encounter someone or something that will be bigger,stronger and more powerful than you."
Stinky raised an eyebrow "what are you saying mom?" "I suppose what I'm saying honey is: put that Gigantic ego of yours in check or you will suffer unimaginable consequences."Kate said bluntly causing stinky to look at his mother in offense. Then she looked at the other pups.
"And i was referring to Bravery earlier stinky:meaning even though you are so afraid to the point of wetting yourself you summon enough courage to push through fear."
Stinky looked away rather upset that his mother is dressing him down like this.
"Another thing everyone: there is a clear difference between controlling your fears and becoming brave and being a total butthead who thinks and acts like nothing ever going to bother them at some point." Stinky looked at his mother again as everyone chuckled at stinky's expense.
"ok alphas take your positions."kate commanded the pups then squatted down in crouching positions however one pup who was behind the group did because he didn't belong there. Kate's eyes widened in surprise "Runt what are you doing here why aren't you in omega school?!"
Runt walked around the group straight to Kate "Mom i want to hunt i may be small but I'm fearless too."
"Hey fearless,get your behind back over here!"a voice yelled out it was Humphrey along with Lilly "Aw cheese."Runt said while he retreated to the grass. "Runt don't hide from your father."kate scolded "I'm not hiding."runt said in denial "so what are you doing?"claudette ask crossing her arms "trying to decide whether or not to throw this dried up doo doo i found at you."runt said that made claudette gasped in disgust and look at kate who shook her head.
"Come on runt we're going on a field trip." Humphrey called out Runt huffed "alphas get to go on hunts and omegas go on field trips." "How fun,where are you guys going?"kate said happily "we're going to the Dark Forest."Lilly said Kate's eyebrows raised in confusion "The Dark Forest?"
The Dark Forest is a forest just Northwest of the United tribe it stretches about 7 miles however no animals can be found in the forest and it's allegedly said to be haunted.
"The supposed haunted Dark Forest."Kate asked for clarification, "yeah Kate you know it's just a dumb made up legend to scare everybody like bigfoot or the loch ness monster."lilly said with a laugh "i know it is Lilly,but I've seen the Dark Forest and it's a little creepy looking make sure you keep the pups safe."kate said.
Lilly rolled her eyes "We're not irresponsible Kate."
"Come on Runt it'll be fun." Humphrey said "No." Runt said still not moving from the grass he was hiding in which began to Irritate Kate because he was disrupting her class.
"Runt you have 5 seconds to get your butt out from that grass..."kate didn't even get to finish her threat as runt burst out from the grass like a cheetah and he ran passed Humphrey and Lilly causing the alpha pups to snicker a little.
Satisfied with the result Humphrey and Lilly followed runt and Kate got back to teaching.
Later
Humphrey and lilly along with their class of omegas roughly 20 pups in total Featuring:Anais,Flynn,rust and Amber. They've all been in the forest for roughly a minute and all ready everyone started to get this feeling of uneasiness.
Even though sunlight showed through the trees Humphrey couldn't help but feel like something isn't quite right with the forest. "So why is it called the dark forest again?"amber asked in a bored tone "well amber years ago this forest used to be full of animals there even was a tribe that settled here but all that changed when something terrible happened."Lilly said.
"what happened?"Flynn asked nervously "Well the tribe that settled here was attacked by a very sinister looking creature that had pitch black colored skin and soul piercing Silver eyes."Humphrey said in a scary voice.
"They called it Shade The Living Shadow, no one knows where it came from or what it is but we do know that no weapon is able to kill it, and it lives in a cave within the forest called the Black cave."
"At least that's what the silly legend goes but there's nothing to be scared of it's just an urban myth." Lilly said but Flynn still didn't feel any better.
The group the stopped by a tree it had a message carved into it that said "Stay Away."
Lilly scoffed "how cute." Then walked away humphrey was about to walk away when he noticed something high above the message it looked like claw marks humphrey assumed them to be a bear but they were to big to be any bear.
"Humphrey over here!"Lilly called out humphrey ran over to the group and immediately stopped when they saw it a massive cave. The inside was pitch black and extremely eerie looking,no light illuminated the inside of the cave so no one could see the top,sides or the bottom it was like they were looking into oblivion.
"This is it pups the Black Cave also known as the home of Shade."Lilly said a little excited "how do you know this cave is it's home,when it could be a bears or a wolf's?"Amber asked in a sassy tone.
"Why don't you take a look inside Amber and check."Rust said looking at his half sister Amber huffed and proceeded to step towards the cave but when she got close to the mouth of the cave she froze as as sudden uneasiness rushed through her something told her not go any closer.
Amber then proceeded to walk back towards the group and next to Rust who had a mocking smile on his face.
Runt looked deep inside the cave and made a face and picked up a rock and threw in into the cave.
All was quiet as everyone listened but the sound of the rock hitting something never came it was like the cave ate it. feeling this is a waste of time a pup decided to leave "This is lame."a male pup said walking back the direction they came from the other pups followed him as did humphrey and lilly runt was about to leave to untill something made him freeze in his tracks.
The rock he threw rolled to a complete stop infront of his feet the then looked to the cave in confusion then what he saw next nearly made him scream. He saw eyes silver glowing eyes staring right back at him from the mouth of the cave.
Runt wanted to scream but couldn't,the eyes then narrowed as if to express anger then it disappeared as suddenly as they appeared.
Runt stood there frozen until Humphrey shook him "Runt are you ok?"Humphrey ask in concern runt didn't say anything he just ran away passed the group lilly looked at Humphrey in confusion Humphrey shrugged his shoulders then looked back at the cave and saw nothing before walking away to join the group unaware that eyes were watching him leave.
