Preface

He remembers the way it felt to retrieve the final arrow from his quiver, his horse galloping harshly underneath him. By his ear, he heard the way his fingers pulled the fletcher back against the string of his bow, it's gold entity shining endlessly from the Goddesses aura. His breath was hitched so suddenly, before letting the arrow go and fly over to the final weak point of Ganon's 'Dark Beast' state.

The grunts and groans emitting from the disgraceful enemy sounded all over the land of Hyrule, his hooves shaking the ground as his power began to leave him. The Hero guided the horse far from Ganon, attempting to avoid the harsh gusts of wind coming from the impact. A small orb of yellow light emitted from the beasts head, as it made its escape from it and immediately transformed into the dear Princess that Link set out to save.

Zelda, in her Goddess state, hovered before the beast, her feet just a few inches from the ground. A light so bright escaped her, and blinded the young Hero enough to look away. The black cloud that was the beast was being sent into the air, being gradually destroyed and depleted of its power.

But before Ganon dares leave this world and lose his reign, he managed to go back down, close enough to float before the Hero. Link abandoned his horse right then, allowing it to run away as he was faced with the damnation himself: Ganon. The boar-like beast looked into Links eyes, forcing an illusion of Ganon's proper Gerudo body.

He stood tall, his dark skin plagued by a muscular body that was channeled by demonic power. His orange hair was long and flowed like fire, reminding Link of the mane of a horse. Ganon's facial features was exactly like a Gerudos: long nose, strong jawline, and eyes that can capture you instantly. But his eyes were of no beauty. No, his eyes were demented, with visible intentions to destroy and kill everything he sees.

But Ganon had nothing, which kept Link on his feet and did not flinch once when he first fronted his illusion. The Gerudo man bends down to put his head by Links ear, a smile crawling on his lips. "Sorry to tell you, Hero," Ganon grunts, spewing his final words with a malicious smirk. "But I'll see you soon, and there won't be a next time." Link scoffs at the man, watching as the illusion immediately disappears and the Hero is left watching as Ganon, in every form, being brought into the air and destroyed by Zelda.

The blue of the sky returns, and the darkness that once loomed the land fades into thin air. Link watches Zelda return to her Hylian state, her feet once again return to the ground. He watches her back turn to stare right at him, a soft smile playing at her lips. Her blue eyes looked at him fondly, and she couldn't help but blush.

But before she could utter a single word, Link suddenly heard a scream, but it hadn't come from Zelda's lips. He looked around, horrified to see Guardians suddenly rise from the ground and frolicking to terrorize the land once again. Dark clouds begin to collect, as specs of spores and evil infect the air. Link looked back to find Zelda missing once again, and the last thing that could be heard was Ganon's vile laughter.

"I told you I'd be back..."

"...Master Link? Please, Hero, wake up!" The Hero was twitching and trembling ferociously in his bed, his body spazzing out while trapped in his dream state. Hylian maids forced themselves into his room, holding his arms down while one maid pats his cheeks, attempting to wake him. "Guards!" The maids screech, waiting as two armored soldiers enter the room.

"Yes, maidens?" The guards attend to them, watching over Link worriedly.

"Bring the Queen over to the Hero's quarters, please!" The maid asks in a panic, "inform her that he's having a sort of attack in his sleep."

Moments later, Zelda forces herself in the room, her hands lifting the skirt of her white dress as she rushes towards her Hero. "Pardon me," she asks kindly to the maids as they move away from the bed. She looks down worriedly at him, seeing the way he shook uncontrollably with sweat collecting all over his face and torso. "We need to take off his shirt immediately or he'll suffer from a heat stroke."

The maids quickly find a knife in one of Link's drawers (kept only for emergencies, of course) and hand it to Zelda. She uses the dagger and begins to cut down his torso, ripping the piece of fine clothing. When she finishes the cut, she tosses the knife away and looks down to notice veins rising from his torso. Her eyes trace them, seeing the purples and blues of the veins progressively become darker as it leads towards his right arm.

"Oh…" Zelda breaths audibly, her eyes ending up on Link's hand. She picks it up nervously, his palm clammy. As the hand shakes in her own, her crystal blue eyes widen to notice something strange happening. His hand begins to start engraving itself, with a slow and steady line being started on it. As it did, painful grunts could be heard coming from Link as the engraving ensues. He clenches Zelda's hand fairly tightly, somehow knowing that it was her holding him so he didn't squeeze her hand to death.

"Mmph…!" Link's teeth gritted harshly against each other, beads of sweat continuously collecting on his forehead as Zelda watches a triangle being completed on his hand. She tries to touch it with her other hand, but quickly hesitates to see that it wasn't finished. It was bringing great pain to the Hero as it continued its forceful engravement. She watched a new line being started within the triangle, but immediately realized what was happening before it could finish.

"Oh, Link…" she whispers wistfully, her eyes completely wide as she thumbs Link's new wound on his hand. It was bleeding quickly, and slowly started to scab. "We've got another battle ahead of us, don't we?" Removing her thumb from his hand, she watched wondrously the sudden engravement on Link's poor hand. Sensing the Queen's aura, Link quickly jolted awake from his nightmare and quickly sat up.

The maidens jumped in shock as they bestowed their eyes upon Link's exposed torso. "M-Master Link!" They uttered in relief, while addressing their words towards his defined abs.

Link looks around in horror, slowly being put at ease when he realizes it was a nightmare, and he was actually safe in his bedroom. He quickly notices Zelda right beside him, sat on the bed with his hand in hers. Relief washed over him, as he brings Zelda's hands towards his cheek and held it in trembles.

The Queen never thought she'd see so much terror in her Hero's eyes as he attempts to find comfort in his solace worth of her touch. Zelda looks over at a maid and beckons her over, "please send a message to Lady Impa and Miss Purah. Tell them there's something bad coming, and we'll be visiting them soon." She looked over to see the maids reticent, her patience suddenly being tested. "Hurry!"
