Here's the first episode! I hope you enjoy! I did have to edit some of the contestants from the original applications (nothing too much, they're still the same character) just to make the story go a little better. Also this first chapter will be slightly choppy because I want to try to introduce you guys to all the contestants so I may have added too many confessionals in the beginning. Don't worry, it won't be this crowded in the future. Also note that I'm just getting back into writing so I'm a little rusty; don't expect too much, especially in the beginning. I may come back and edit chapters later but for now I just want to show that I've actually been working on it.
The episode starts with Chris standing in an unknown location.
"Hello Total Drama fans and new viewers alike! My name is Chris McLean, and this" - here the camera zooms out - "is Camp Tahsis! It's about 15 acres and it's 20 minutes from where Camp Wawanakwa used to be. Unlike Wawanawka, Tahsis focuses on Equestrian Activities - hence why the area is so big. Because of this, you may see some of the staff of Tahsis here taking care of the horses that live here in the off season. They may help us with some specific challenges, but their job is taking care of and running the camp."
Chris starts walking and the camera follows him.
"This season will be pretty different. We're trying out some new twists and formats to the game. Don't worry though, it's still the same basic formula of immunity challenges and voting people off."
We arrive at a building.
"This here is the main building! It's where campers will eat and spend a lot of their free time. It also has several different rooms - great for strategizing in private and challenges, as well as confessing your deepest darkest secrets to the whole world!"
He then points to the side to a dirt path and the camera pans to show it going over a small creek and into a lightly wooded area where you can see some small buildings.
"Down that trail is the cabins. There are four cabins of four, one for each gender of each team." Chris then pokes his head into the frame of the camera. "Hey. I didn't tell you to pan away from me."
Chris and the camera both go back to their spots in front of the building.
"There's many other places at Tahsis, but for now this is what the campers will be stuck with, just so we don't lose track of them… again."
Our host begins walking again, this time back to where we started.
"Chef is coming back this season, but right now he's handling… things."
Chris then begins to smile devilishly and rub his hands together.
"I can't wait to begin!"
The Theme Plays (I'm not gonna add it in as I feel like it doesn't fit well in fanfics.
Confessional - Damien; The Mole
We open up in the confessional for this season - a storage closet in the main building. There's a spider web in the upper right corner with a spider walking around on it, and a shelf on the left side with pictures of Chris and one smashed picture of Don.
In the said closet (pun not intended) is a tall and lightly muscled guy. He has black hair and bright blue eyes, and is wearing a black unzipped jacket with a blue and grey shirt underneath, not-quite-black trousers, and black leather boots, as well as a silver watch on his left wrist.
"Well, I'm on Total Drama now. We were all sequestered for a while and suddenly we're all thrust into the middle of things. I'm not gonna remember anyone's name until half way through the game or when we're already merged. I swear if I get another hand shoved at me I'm gonna go crazy."
Confessional - Sami; The Performing Arts Geek
Taking his place is a short girl with hair that's dyed bright red. She has purple glass that are framing hazel eyes, and is wearing jean shorts and a 'Wicked' t-shirt.
"While I love meeting people, I'm super awkward at first - especially when I'm meeting a ton of people at once. Like now! I hope these people don't think I'm too weird…"
Finally we get to see what the new contestants are talking about as we transition to the field, where 16 teenagers (plus one Chris McLean) are standing, and it's quite apparent as they've just arrived as everyone is talking and getting to know each other while Chris, who is obviously trying to get everyone's attention, is growing increasingly annoyed.
The camera goes around the contestants. We hear a guy with a mohawk talking animatedly to a red-headed girl (who looks quite annoyed) and a short guy wearing a red baseball cap who looks mostly confused. It's apparent that he's talking to them about bears.
Confessional - Arabelle; The Ticking Time Bomb
Arabelle is the redhead stuck in the conversation with the bear-dude. Her hair is in a braid tossed over her shoulder, and she has green eyes and has a beauty mark underneath one of them. She's wearing a black halter top and red skinny jeans, as well as fingerless gloves and combat boots. She's also wearing a scowl.
"Are you kidding me? First I was forced to be myself for days with no electronics. Then when I'm finally free from solitary confinement I'm stuck listening to a guy talk about BEARS of all things - and I have to pretend like I'm interested so I don't get voted off. Ugh. At least it'll all be worth it once I win."
Confessional - Gonzo; The Daredevil
The bear-dude himself is now in the confessional. He's short and lean but still has some noticeable muscle mass. He has amber-coloured skin, a tall black mohawk with the rest of his head being shaven, and mocha brown eyes. He has many visible scars. He has a t-shirt with flames on it, blue shorts, and is noticeably not wearing any shoes.
"What can I say, bears are awesome." He shrugs.
Past them we hear Sami and a blond guy talking about Wicked; the guy obviously admiring her shirt.
Finally we zoom in on Chris who finally snaps.
"Hello? Back to the important part of the show? Me!"
All the teens immediately quiet (except the mohawk guy who finishes his sentence about wanting to open a bear petting zoo).
Chris continues. "Thank you! Now, we're gonna start today off by immediately splitting off into teams!" He points to two mats on either side of him, one red, one blue. "These are the tribe colours, blue and red! The tribe names are The Changing Roses," he says, gesturing to the red mat, "and The Bruising Thorns!" He then points to the blue mat.
Confessional - Walter; The Manipulative Jerk
Now in the confessional is a guy with short brown hair and brown eyes. He's wearing a dark red shirt and black sweatpants.
"What are up with these team names? These have to be the weakest names yet - and one of the team names from the previous season was literally "The Confused Bears."
"If I call your name, you will be on The Changing Roses. Please step on the red mat! Arabelle, Eloise, Jillian, Sami, Clayton, Craig, Michael and Walter!"
The eight teens called step forward. A distant deep-pitched buzz is heard, definitely coming closer.
"And now if I call your name, you will be on The Bruising Thorns, so please step on the blue mat! Coco, Leilani, Maxine, Milly, Damien, Gonzo, Hunter and Magnus."
As the second team steps forward, the buzz continues growing louder.
Confessional - Max; The Energetic Tomboy [The Bruising Thorns]
Max is a blue eyed girl with a short ginger bob. She's large, weight more than most (if not all) of the guys, including Chris. She's obviously quite muscular but also has a bit of a gut. She's wearing brown sandals, cream knee-length capris, and a light blue collar shirt tied to expose her midriff. She has a fire in her eyes.
"Did Chris really call me Maxine? 'Cause that ain't gonna fly."
Once everyone is on their respective mat, Chris grins. "Now that we have you newbies sorted into your teams, it's time for you to meet your team captains!"
The buzz is revealed to be a helicopter. The back is open and we can see two familiar faces. The helicopter lands and the newly arrived teens hop out.
Chris re-introduces them as they walk up. "Everybody, welcome back Zoey and Shawn, winners of the last two seasons! Zoey will be the team captain of The Roses while Shawn will be manning The Thorns! They'll be playing the game just like all of you, however you can use them to get a step ahead and help you on your path to win - or make sure they get out right away and don't become a threat to your game!"
Confessional - Zoey; The Indie Chick [The Changing Roses]
Zoey is grinning.
"It's great to be back everyone! Everything's been going great since All Stars - Mike and I are going strong and there's no more Mal to worry about; Brick, Cam, Mike, Sammy, Bridgette, Geoff, Brody and I are doing trivia nights together since we all live in the same area; and I've teamed up with Bridgette, Brody, Geoff, DJ, and Dawn to start a business where we're turning plastic found in the ocean into jewelry! It kicked off great and we got a lot more Reality Stars to help us out!" Her smile falters. "Although, it's really hard to keep up with the orders. I hope the rest of them can handle it while I'm on here."
Confessional - Shawn; The Zombie Conspiracy Nut [The Bruising Thorns]
Shawn looks a lot more mellowed out (and tan) than last season.
"I moved to Australia! Well, okay, not officially, but I spent the past 3 months in Australia with Jasmine and I plan to go back after this season. She's working on building Roses are Red, Bruises are Blue - and she even agreed to put in a zombie-proof basement! Man I love this girl."
He then gets a more serious look on his face.
"Speaking of zombies, I'm back on full alert now that I don't have someone I can trust to help me defeat them. I'll beat any zombie by myself if I have to."
Confessional - Magnus; The Baseball Freak [The Bruising Thorns]
Magnus is a short kid with an olive skin tone. He has green eyes (with a small scar under his left eye) and brown hair covered by a baseball cap. He's wearing a white baseball jersey with a red number 35 on the front, black shorts (also with a 35 on the pant sleeve), and red trainers.
"Wow, we get to compete with two veterans! This'll be great! … I wonder if it's a better idea to take them out sooner?"
Confessional - Craig; The Scheming Gamer [The Changing Roses]
Craig has brown hair tied back into a man-bun, as well as a goatee. He has icy blue eyes and is wearing glasses. He's lightly toned. He's wearing a blue t-shirt with a volcano on it and olive coloured cargo shorts, along with red running shoes.
"Great, even more competition. Hopefully everyone else will be smart enough to vote them off right away."
After the initial excitement (and resentment) of the prospect of two vets returning to the game, Chris motions his arms for everyone to be quiet.
"Now, you all know the rules of the game and of camp, and you have your teams. Which means we should get started right away with a competition! The winners will get some extra food. The losers? They'll get some… incentives to not lose in the future." Chris smirks. "This is simple - a relay race. Each team will have four random people chosen to compete. Those four will be the only four people competing in the rest of the challenge. You may pick which person does what part of the challenge - but be warned, each part is challenging or comes with a punishment. The first person will run to the cabins. Once they get there, the second person will have to search all of the cabins for three bags of puzzle pieces. They must then give the puzzle pieces to the third person, who will take the puzzle pieces and run back here! The final person must then solve the puzzle using the pieces provided to them by their teammates. Chris grins devilishly. "However, things aren't so simple. If the first person's team loses, they will become cursed!"
The contestants look at him blankly.
"Oh, right. More on that later. But trust me, you really don't want that. Moving on, the second person is only able to open their team's cabins' doors. You can go through the doorway if the opponent leaves it open. If not? You better be able to fit through a window I guess. The third person won't have the luxury of just running normally, they'll have to run with their feet tied together! Good luck running with that holding you back. Finally, if the fourth person's team loses, they will get an automatic vote towards them at their first Tribal Council. Not fun." A lot of the contestants look worried. "Oh, also, Zoey and Shawn aren't able to compete, so it's just out of the newbies."
The Bruising Thorns -
The nine teens are discussing who should do what part.
Shawn immediately takes charge. "Okay, so is there any part any of you are confident doing?"
Leilani immediately raises her hand. "I got the race back with my feet tied."
"I can do the cabins." Coco says somewhat shyly.
"I'm not good at running… so I guess I'll take the puzzle if that's alright." Milly adds.
Hunter finishes, "I'll do the first run then."
Confessional - Hunter; The Aspiring Author [The Bruising Thorns]
Hunter is skinny with fair skin, green eyes, and blond hair. He's wearing a red-button up with a black shirt with a dragon on it underneath. He has blue jeans and black converse.
"Well, my team kinda took all the other jobs before I could say anything, so while it's not ideal, I don't want to be confrontational - at least not yet. I hope we don't lose because I don't like the idea of this 'cursed' business. We could lose and it might not even be my fault and it'd still happen."
Confessional - Leilani; The Bellicose Stoic [The Bruising Thorns]
Leilani is an amber-skinned girl with long wavy black hair underneath a green bandana. She has sea green eyes and is very muscular. She's wearing a bright blue tank top, black capris, blue flats, and green sweatbands on each arm that match her bandana.
She simply grunts and shrugs.
Confessional - Coco; The Friend Collector [The Bruising Thorns]
Coco is short and tan with curly brown hair and soft green eyes. She's wearing a white tank top, an obnoxiously bright green skirt, and sandals.
"I'm small so I figure that this will be the easiest for me."
Confessional - Milly; The Quiet Flirt [The Bruising Thorns]
Milly is lightly tanned with dark brown hair tied up in a ponytail and light brown eyes. She's wearing bright red lipstick. She has a bubblegum pink shirt and hot pink short-shorts, matched with fashionable white boots.
"I'm going to use this to my advantage. If my team manages to get to me, I'll throw it if I can do it without it being obvious. I want my team to think I'm just a dumb girl. On top of that, I can use that vote against me to make people feel bad for me. There's a small chance it will backfire but I'm sure I can work my magic."
The Changing Roses -
While on the other team things went pretty smoothly, here the four people competing in this competition aren't exactly on the same page.
"I don't run." Clayton says, deadpan.
"But you're taller than the girls, you give us the best chance for a clean sprint!" argues Michael.
Jillian tries to speak up but is interrupted by Walker. "Clayton, just do it."
"I -" Jillian starts, but is once again interrupted by someone.
"Are you sure I should be doing the cabins? I'm not exactly agile…" Eloise says rubbing her arm.
"You -" Jillian tries again, this time interrupted by Zoey.
"We need to come up with a decision or Chris will do it for us." She shudders. "And that is never good."
Arabelle, noticing Jillian's inability to speak up, speaks up herself. "I think Jillian has something to say."
Jillian nods in gratitude before speaking. "I was on my cross country team because my highschool requires you to take at least one sport. I'm not exactly the fastest runner but I'm definitely not the slowest. I can do running…? And then Eloise can take over the puzzle? And I'm pretty sure Clayton's thin enough to get through any of the windows, and he can probably open them easier than Eloise can."
Michael looks taken back a second then nods. "Alright. Jillian first, Clayton second, I'll stick with third, and Eloise last then. Any complaints?"
Everyone shakes their head.
Confessional - Michael; The Street Magician [The Changing Roses]
Michael has messy black hair and a five o' clock shadow. He has hazel eyes and is wearing a trench coat over a white-button up and blue tie, as well as black dress pants and shoes.
"That girl's quiet and strategic. That's dangerous in a game like this, but also helpful incase our team continues to argue like that."
Confessional - Jillian; The Jealous Gossiper [The Changing Roses]
Jillian has super wavy brown hair and brown eyes. She's wearing some light makeup. Her outfit consists of a green shirt and pink skirt, several white bracelets, and white high heels.
She says quietly, "I'm really glad Arabelle spoke up for me."
Confessional - Eloise; The Sheltered Rich Chick [The Changing Roses]
Eloise is a small pale-skinned girl with wide dark blue eyes. She has strawberry blonde hair tied back in a ponytail with a white ribbon. She's wearing a sky blue sundress and white flip flops.
"I really just don't want to let me team down. Especially since I need some friends…"
Confessional - Clayton; The Emo Weeb [The Changing Roses]
Clayton has chocolate brown skin, and black hair with a long purple fringe. His eyes are a purple colour. He's wearing an oversized purple sweater that's matching his hair. The sweater has a red broken heart in the middle. He has faded black ripped jeans, mint shoes, a black bracelet with several charms on it, and black fingerless gloves that go halfway to his elbow.
"I don't run."
At the Start of the Challenge -
We're at the start of the path down to the cabins with Chris, Jillian, Hunter, and the campers who aren't competing.
"Are both of you ready?" Chris asks.
Both combatants nod and get into a ready position.
"In that case… go!"
Both of them immediately take off, staying fairly close. Jillian has a way better start off but Hunter is definitely slightly faster.
They continue running with Hunter finally getting a decent lead. However, after he reaches the creak, he starts slowly slowing down, getting tired.
The camera pans over to Jillian not too far behind, who doesn't appear very tired at all.
Hunter shakes his head and continues running, keeping his lead until he reaches the cabins, tagging Coco's hand. He falls on the grass, huffing slightly.
Jillian shows up right then as Coco goes into one of her team's cabins. She tags Clayton's hand, only appearing slightly tired and in way better shape than Hunter.
Hunter looks at her. "How are you not tired?"
"I saved some of my energy. We do have to go back after all."
Hunter groans.
Inside Cabin 1
Coco is midway searching around when she finds one of the other team's bag of puzzle pieces. She grins and pockets it. She continues looking around before going to her team's other cabin.
In the second cabin, Coco finds one of her team's bags of puzzle pieces and spots another opponent's bag. She grabs that one too. Suddenly the window opens and Clayton hoists himself through it, landing on the floor heaving.
"OOMPH!"
Coco runs over to him with concern in her voice. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah. 'M fine."
Coco then smiles. "Good. 'Cause I have a proposition for you."
"I don't do propositions.
"It's simple though! Be my friend!"
"I don't do friends either."
Coco brings out both of his team's bags and shows them to him. "But then you won't get these!"
Clayton groans. "Fine, I'll be your stupid friend."
"Yay! Good choice!"
Coco helps him up before handing him both bags. She then turns around and goes through the door, slamming it in his face.
Clayton looks after her. "... Dammit, now I have to go back through the window."
Coco continues around to the back of one of the other team's cabins to the window. She tries jumping for it to no avail.
"How did he do this so easily?" She grumbles.
Outside all of the Cabins
Clayton comes up and hands all three of his team's bags to Michael who has both feet tied together. "Go!"
Michael begins hopping, making an inch every few hops.
Hunter, Jillian, and Clayton decide to head back together and begin walking, quickly overtaking Michael.
Michael lets out a huff of irritation as they pass him.
Leilani, back at the start, is still waiting for Coco, appearing slightly annoyed but not too worried at Michael's slow pace.
Michael has made it about a foot into the actual woods. He's clearly growing increasingly frustrated.
"Time to work my magic…" He bends down, messes with the ropes, apparently loosening them, allowing him to hop faster.
He's starting to actually make good progress, having passed the creak and is now making his way up the steeper part of the hill back to the start of the challenge.
He then hears something coming behind him.
Leilani passes him all of a sudden with Coco on her back and continues up the path.
"Oh come on! How is she going so fast?"
He sighs before residing to continuing to jump, desperately trying to catch up.
Back Outside the Main Building
Leilani appears first.
She tags Milly's hand, handing her the bags, then goes to the rest of The Bruising Thorns, dropping Coco down beside her.
Milly begins opening the bags, fumbling around with each of them for a bit before pouring them out, some of the pieces landing on the ground. She goes under the table to try and pick them all up.
As she does so, Hunter, Jillian and Clayton make it back out of the woods and join their teams.
Milly has finally gotten herself sorted out and gotten all the puzzle pieces back on the table and begins solving it when Michael appears. He continues hopping before finally tagging Eloise's hand and handing over the puzzle pieces, joining The Changing Roses.
Eloise runs over to the table set up for her to solve her puzzle, quickly undoing the knot closing them.
She pours them out and starts flipping them face up.
The pieces are perfect squares with a design and words on them.
The girls continue trying to solve the puzzle, slowly making progress.
Eloise continues putting piece after piece next to each other, as Milly struggles to find pieces that match.
After several minutes, Eloise grabs the final puzzle pieces and grins as she says, "Sorry, but I'm not getting an extra vote any time soon!", before placing it.
Chris says in his announcer voice "And Eloise finishes, meaning The Changing Roses have won this challenge!"
The Bruising Thorns collectively groan after having already lost a challenge.
"Zoey, Shawn, go to your rooms, and the rest of you can go to your cabins."
The campers all leave.
Chris is now alone standing outside the main building.
"What will Hunter's curse be? Which team will win immunity? And who will be the first person voted out? Find out next time on Total Drama Battle for POWER!"
