Chapter 1: The fall

Battlestar Infinity;
The fall;
Just outside the volus nebula located just outside the red line lay the battlestars 'INFINITY','ETERNITY', and 'UNITY'. Each battlestar was of the brand new Infinity class of Battlestar each with the firepower of five mercury class battlestars. These 2.5 kilometer long, 400 meter wide, 350 meter tall beasts were capable of mass destruction of entire fleets. With 400 triple barreled heavy KEW's, 500 double barreled medium KEW's, and 600 light single Barreled KEW's, all spread throughout the ship, there were also 300 missile silos spread out on the dorsal, ventral, and port and starboard sides,as well as 500-700 point-defense guns spread across the ship, as well as there five flightpods they were very capable of defending themselves and any other ship in their fleet. Four of the flightpods would be used by vipers and Raptors, while the fifth-which is fitted on the underside of the ship-is used as primarily a support pad, used by fuel tankers, shuttle's, and tugs of various sizes. But could still be used to hold vipers or raptor's if needed. At full capacity they could carry twenty-five squadrons of 20 vipers each, as well as carrying 200 raptors.
The Infinity, under command of fleet Admiral Jessica Varin was stationed at this base along with her sister ships Eternity and Unity, each being commanded by commander's, Tyler Stark, and Kid Richards, as well as Titan II Gunstars Aegis, Foxtrot, Fortress, and Legion. And formerly decommissioned Daedalus class warstars Daedalus and Dauntless. Both ships were commanded by twins Vera and Pacifica claythorne. Both ships, and there commanders and crew were scheduled to be sent to Virgon fleet anchorage for decommissioning and later scraping but were instead transferred along with their crews and families to Volus along with 3 firestar ll's, and 1 command firestar ll,These ships were, combined, Battlegroup 87 but they were not on any colonial database as the base they were protecting was also a secret. In fact the Infinity and her sister ships as well as the Gunstars and warstars are in fact not even listed as ships to exist in the colonial fleet.
Inside the nebula were 2 stations. 1 was the old but still very versatile and legendary fleet anchorage Daidalos(1) that was built before the Cylon war and used during the height of the war as a mobile fleet base capable of both fleet repair and construction it was famously used by one fleet admiral Helena Cain. Grandmother to now rear admiral Cain of the Mercury class battlestar Pegasus. Which with her victories, and the ones of an unknown commander (*wink wink*), made the station a place of legend. This station was changed to a fleet anchorage after the war and moved into this nebula for storage. Along with multiple ships from the Cylon war that included:

Atlas, Corvus, Tauron, Virgon
3 Ranger class missile cruisers:
Ranger, Danger, and Charger
2 Heracles heavy gunships:
Hera and Terra
2 Artemis class light battlestars:
Artemis and Hercules
2 Minerva class assault battlestars:
Minerva and Medusa
4 Janus class heavy cruisers
Janus, Pride of Virgon, Admiral Wilhelm von Bismark (2), Captain Keyes (3)
2 Phoenix class dreadnoughts: Athena's Pride, Posiden's Trident
These ships have been updated and upgraded to modern technological standards and are at full crew compliments. The other station was of the newer, more sleeker Olympia class station known as the Kronus in honor of the famous admiral. It was moved here at the nebula to rearm and repair all those ships at Daidalos anchorage. Also at the in the nebula was 2 Leviathan class mobile drydocks, 3 Hephasetus class mobile drydocks, and 4 Ranger class mobile drydocks. They were also sent to help repair the ships at the anchorage. Also in the nebula were multiple Argo ships, mining ships, and refining vessels. As well as a few Ebba Maersk class super freighters to move supplies between the ships.
Outside the volus nebula 30 minutes after the attack
CIC Infinity:
Fleet admiral Jessica Varin walked into the CIC and sat down in the command chair as an man walked up to the admiral with a cup of coffee. The CIC was massive when compared to other Battlestar's. In fact, the only ship class that has a bigger CIC was the Titan class, as it was the largest ship still fielded by the colonial fleet. As she looks around the CIC she sees the CIC crew of more than 60 men and women controlling the massive ship. From, Communication, to Navigation, and anything in between. And a nice little fact of the infinity class was that each ship of the class had a hydroponics bay, and a large open space in the center of the ship that housed a small ecosystem of plants and animals.
As she was thinking about how beautiful the ship was, she was soon brought out of her thoughts by the commander of the Infinity's commander, one Jason morales. "Morning Ma'am."
"Morning commander, ship status?"
"Well, everything is working at nominal levels, Ma'am, and the Dauntless just finished it's refit for the new pulse lasers that doctor Raveshol remade. The test firings will commence within the hour."
"I still can't believe that he made them more efficient."
During the first Cylon war both sides used pulse laser technology, but it was too energy inefficient so when a ship fired its pulse canon the ship would be dead in the water for long periods of time, time that would see the end of that ship.
"Good, status on Daidalos and her ships?"
"Well the manticores are just being finished being reactivated, but besides that, all ships at the anchorage are ready for battle. If needed."
"Good, let's hope that doesn't come to pass-."
Suddenly the COM officer yelled
"Sir!, unidentified ships have appeared...wait...there squawking colonial ID, It's the fifth Leonis guard division..or what's left of it. They are doing a hostile ID challenge, and have begun powering weapons."
From what she could remember the fifth Leonis guard division consisted of:
10 Apollo mark 3 cutters/corvettes
5 Tiger class faststars
4 starfire class patrolstars
1 Geneva MKll battlestar
1 Skinxaxi class battlestar
Now after looking at the dradis ships admiral Varin saw that the guard division lost 4 cutters, 3 of their faststars, 1 patrolstar, and every thing else being moderately to severely damaged.
"Sir we are receiving a transmission, they say 'unidentified vessels show your identification or we will open fire'"
"Tell them this is admiral Varin of Battlegroup 87 aboard the battlestar Infinity state your reason you are in this area of space this is a restricted area."
"This is commander Eric of the battlestar Geneva to the ship named Infinity, we are here because we were told to head to this location by orders of Admiral Nagala."
"Why."
"The colonies are under attack, the Cylons have returned and have decimated the fleet, all remaining colonial ships are fighting a last stand at Virgon but we were ordered to these Coordinates for reasons unknown."
"Ok, Commander, the Gunstar Aegis will lead you into the nebula for repairs. Then you are to meet me at the Infinity to talk."
"Yes sir."
"Good, Infinity, out."

He died defending his homeworld of virgon during a final desperate push by the cylons to defeat a major colonial planet.(3) Captain Keyes was a native of leonis and was famous for a maneuver called 'Thor's Hammer' in which he used his ship the Thor's Hammer, a Phoenix class dreadnought to FTL infront of a enemy capital ship and use the strong armor of the dreadnought to ram the enemy vessel, without damaging his ship and causing untold amounts of chaos for the enemy fleet. He died from a cylon ambush near the Volus nebula. And his actions in the war granted him the promotion to commander after his death in his honor, along with the star of kobol.
