A Witch and Her Knight
Don't Be Afraid
It was business as usual at Special Fire Cathedral 8. The Devil and Knight were having their typical arguments while they were sparring. The Witch experimented with her spells. The Nun said her prayers. The Shooter cleaned his weapons. The Captain exercised. The Cat did her chores. The engineers did their daily maintenance. The scientist did his research.
Even when the alarm signals the unit of Infernals blazing up the city. The FireFighters grab their gear and equipment to combat the flames, falling into the same old truck that took them to so many missions. It was business as usual.
But what was a bit unusual was how the soldier who went by the moniker Knight King was eyeing the second generation officer; Maki Oze. With a hood of his head.
Arthur ignored Shinra's barbs and jabs. Which left the self-proclaimed hero perplexed. Turning his head to see what had his rival's attention. The Devil let a wicked smirk cross his lips. Sensing a prime opportunity to embarrass the idotic knight. Fortunately for Arthur. Tamaki saw what Shinra was planning and lightly kicked him in his shin. The yelp that Shinra let out broke Arthur out of his adoring gaze.
"The Cat and Devil having another lover queral I see." Arthur thought, shaking his head dismissively. Looking back up. His electric blue orbs were met with large violet ones. Maki was giving him a genuine smile.
The blush that lit up the knight's face could put a Christmas tree to shame. Quickly averting his eyes. Finding his boots very interesting.
Iris smiled endearingly at the scene playing out in front of her. Knowing despite what appearances might have some believe. That Tamaki and Shrina really did care about one and another, along with the fact. That Arthur was crushing big on Maki.
"May the Gods bless us to all come back safe. Látom." The Nun rooting for the Devil and Knight.
The call came in from a nightclub that looked almost normal. If the occupants were not dispensing out of the establishment in a frantic fashion. Flames could be seen dancing through the stems of the building. Company 8 parked in front of the site.
"They are two infernals and one demon. With some civilians still inside. We don't for certain. But Hinawa and I have reason to believe this is an artificial case of spontaneous human combustion. I want you in teams of two. Maki and Arthur take the infernal on the east side. Shrina and Tamaki I want you to take the one on the west." Captain Obi briefed his team.
Cocking his pistol. Lieutenant Hinawa finished up the briefing.
"Leave the demon to the captain and me. Vulcan and Lisa I want you to focus on evacuation. Iris, I want you to help the paramedics with the injury. Understood team?"
Giving an affirmative nod of their heads showing they're understanding.
The team fell out of the vehicle.
Entering the club with no trouble, the team broke off into they're respectful units.
"It would be my honor to protect you m'lady." Arthur declared proudly. His knightley persona or delusion rather in full effect.
The nineteen first class fire officer was caught off guard by her rookie proclamation, causing a light shade of pink to eclipse her fair skin cheeks.
"Why thank you Arthur. You know I can handle myself. But I'll tell you what. We'll watch each other's backs, deal ?"
"Hmph" was the response that Maki got to her proposal. But she still smiled. While others might take the gesture as stubborn or rude. She knew it was just Arthur's way of saying ok.
The Witch and Knight continue to their assigned infernal. Putting out fires along the way. But the temperature was still rising, which meant they were getting closer.
Sensing something coming at them hot. The Knight maneuvered the witch out the way, as a huge arm broke through the wall on the right of them. The limb continues to reach for them, tearing up the structure. The duo kept nimbly moving out of the way, until it seemed the hand reached its limit.
Emerging through the fractured wall was a small body. Contrasts with giant muscular arms, with the creature used move around like stilts. With only a pointed needle like nose as it distinguishable facial feature. Tilting its head to the side. The being that was once human seems to be sizing up the pair of firefighters. Before rushing them with great speed.
It seemed to ignore Arthur completely instead focusing on Maki, trying to mash her with an overhand strike. Which she blocked with her Iron Owls, holding her ground as the infernal appealed more pressure.
Arthur ignites Excalibur dashing to give his teammate support. Displaying his own impressive speed. Leaping in the air. Arthur executed an overhand slash, hoping to cut the being in two. Taking out its core in the process. Which was a failed attempt. Slightly turing. The infernal blocked the strike, with the back of its massive right hand. While never breaking its effort to smash Maki, who was still holding strong. The force sent the knight flying back, who used the momentum to perform a backflip. Pushing off the wall he was supposed to crash instead, front flipped over the creature. Putting him right next to the witch, ducking so he too was under her owls and the hand.
Sensing what her rookie had in mind. Maki broke her weapons apart, at the sametime Arthur thrust his sword. Impaling the giant hand, making the infernal rear back growl in pain and frustration. It responds back by shooting a fireball the size of a small car from its noise.
Maki stepped in front of Arthur, utilizing her abilities to control fire. She split the spherical projectile in two, causing it to slide right past her and Arthur. Taking some of the flames leftover from the attack. The Witch redirects them to make her Pusu Pusu Comet technique. The comet-shaped flame shot towards its target with great force. Hitting it dead on. The infernal was still standing, but was stunned.
Which gave the knight his chance.
Arthur launched himself towards his opponent. The blue aura of Excalibur shining brilliantly.
Using his Lightning Blade technique. Trying to horizontally slice through the charcoal figure. Who tried to block the attack with its massive hands, but they were still cut off from the wrist. Howling in pain. The Infernal retaliates by using its needle nose. Like a chameleon uses its tongue. Piercing Arthur in his right shoulder.
"Arthur!" Maki exclaimed.
Seeing her friend hurt, she sent the Mera Mera owl vertically down on the nose, breaking it in two. Putting its owner in great pain. Freeing the struggling Arthur from its grip, who kneeled over in discomfort. Focusing on trying to remove the leftover appendage shoulder. He didn't notice the injured, but angry infernal rapidly approaching him. It resembles a furious gorilla.
This approach was quickly halted however, by a darting Maki dropkick. Sending the creature smacking into the wall, very hard.
"Are you okay Arthur? Let me take a look." Crouching down to check on her friend. She examined her friend's injury. The wound didn't look too bad, it went through clean. Her and Arthur both hissing a wince as he finally removed the object from his shoulder.
"It takes much more to bring this Knight King down. Do not fret over me M'lady. Let us slay this wrench dragon."
The Second Generation couldn't help but roll her eyes at the Third Generation. But an endearing smile still crossed her lips. The romantic in her, found the honorable knightley persona Arthur wore attractive.
Pursuing their target. The duo made their way through the hole wall. Only to see their foe struggle to stand.
Sensing it was time to finish and put this poor being to rest.
Make borrowed some of the plasma from Arthur's blade. Manipulating the flames around her to create a huge storm of fire to surround her opponent, wrapping them in flames. Firestorm. She called it. The infernal thumping and bumping seemingly never ending.
When the storm finally broke, its victim was in tattered fashion. But its was core intact but only for moments. As Arthur pounced with Flash of Lighting. Rushing towards his target rapidly and, with Excalibur activated in-hand, slices through the core, creating a purple-coloured electrical discharge in the process.
Seeing the enemy defeated. The Knight and Witch gave each other looks of admiration. Maki assisted Arthur to the exit to get his wound taken care of. Being met by a worried Iris and Lisa. Then Shinra and Tamaki appeared. Both a little nicked up, but where otherwise alright. Their Captain and lieutenant showed up shortly after. Both were beat up, the injuries were not fatal.
When Maki left his side to report and check on Obi and Hinawa. Arthur was disgusted with the pang of envy that shot through him. It was so unbecoming of a knight of his stature. It was speculated by few in the company. That Maki had a tiny crush on the gunslinger.
But when adulation violet eyes met his blue ones. It would have taken an army to prevent the positive smile from coming up on Arthur's face.
"Why do you have that goofy look on your face?" Shirna asked his friend. Both get patched up for their injuries by the paramedics.
"Hear me well devil. I will make the witch my queen." Arthur stated proudly. Causing Shinra to look at him then Maki, who did this a few times. Before light shaking his head while facepalming.
"You are such an idiot."
