Far in the forest covered in a thick fog a large raven colored fox demon runs, she was covered in open wounds after being chased from her home by demon hunters accusing her of killing innocent people in a near by village. It's been days since she was attacked and they were still after her, she was in a lot of pain and was exhausted from running she was sure her feet were bleeding.
"I wish they would leave me alone… I'm not the killer" she pants stopping at a high cliff overlooking a huge river she looks down and gulps at how high it was before looking back seeing the hunters appear out of the shadows "I wasn't the one that killed all those people! If anything I was looking for the killer to stop them myself!" she barks out as best she could turning to face them.
The lead hunter steps forward "we know you didn't do it but yours still a monster, and monsters like you should all be crushed into dust" he says with a smirk and points his gun at her.
Her eyes widen and she backs up before getting shot in the chest making her fall off the cliff crashing into the river below, her vision fades to black as she gets carried off by the currents.
A few days pass and on the outskirts of the Lions Kingdom was a small town with thick forests surrounding it, the town's people were close to each other like one big family and would trade with kingdom to get by. They would get attacked by bandits and on every rare night by demons, but the demons were always small and only wanted food and would avoid killing the humans unlike the bandits. The bandits would kill just for the fun of it, the towns people tired to pay someone to protect them but most of the warriors asked for to much except one man. His name was Takumi, his strength was that of a demon and was feared by many. All he wanted in return was a place to live to raise his little sister named Eve, the two of them were able to build a small house by the river and have been living there happily for a few years now.
Takumi was out helping around the town for the day leaving Eve to go play with the other kids, it was a hot day so they all went to play in the river since the currents weren't that strong.
"Eve I bet you cant out to that log floating in the middle of the river" one of the young boys says pointing to a dark object
"You're on! I can do that in my sleep" Eve laughs diving into the water and starts swimming to it and gets there in no time grabbing it and climbing onto it "HA! Easy!" she shouts back and feels the log bump into something, she looks down to find a naked woman with wounds all over one being a large bullet wound on her chest "SOMEONE GET THE ADULTS!" Eve shouts pulling the woman onto the log and starts to push the log to shore while the other kids run off shouting for help
"Miss Can you hear me?!" Eve call out as she tries to pull her onto the bank then notices she had a fox tail and ears "you're a fox demon" she gasps before checking for a pulse and lets out a sigh of relief when she felt the pulse.
"Eve!" Takumi shouts as he runs over being the first one there and sees the woman, it one swift movement he pulls his shirt off and puts it over her and picks her limp body up "go get Dr. Snow and tell him to come to are house, I'm going to start tending to her" Takumi says getting a nod from his sister and they both run separate ways.
Once Takumi got home he kicks the door open and rushes her to his bed setting her down and pulls his shirt off her looking at the bullet wound, it was still bleeding a little and getting a closer look he could see the bullet still in the wound. He works fast and gets it out, he goes and grabs some clean water and some rags and starts to clean up the other wounds while putting pressure on her chest.
"Brother I got Dr. Snow!" Eve calls out running in
"Her wound is deep on her chest, I'm shocked she lived from it demon or not" Takumi says backing up letting the doctor work on her.
The doctor starts to stitch her up and treat all her wounds "she really went through hell didn't she, even her feet are bruised. Her skin is to pale due to blood loss so ill make up some medicine to help with that… Why don't you sleep over at my house for a while Eve, we don't know how she will act when she wakes up." Snow says as he works
"But I want to stay and help Brother" Eve says with a pout
Takumi pats her head "if she were to attack out of fear though you could get hurt, plus you like spending the night over at Snow's because he spoils you like a granddaughter" he chuckles
"that's because she is like my granddaughter, since the day you two showed up we have been like family" Snow says finishing up "all done" he adds packing up his
"I guess I have no choice" Eve sighs "ill come back later tomorrow to check up on her though" she says looking at the woman before her and Snow walk out leaving Takumi to watch over her.
A few hours pass and Takumi had fallen asleep resting his head on the side of the bed, she starts to move a little whimpering in pain and slowly opens her eyes. She looks around in confusion not sure where she was, she goes to sit up but sharp pain shoots though her body making her gasp in pain.
Takumi wakes up and looks up "hey don't try and move! your body is in a lot stress right now" he says grabbing some water "here, drink some water" he says putting the cup to her mouth but she turns her head not trusting the water, he lets out a sigh and brings it to his mouth and takes a drink from it then puts it back down to her mouth "I drank it as well so there is no need to worry" he says
She relaxes a little and drinks from the cup and ends up drinking all the water left in it before she looks away "th… thank you" she says quietly
Takumi smiles "your welcome, my name is Takumi… my I ask what your name is?" he asks
She was hesitant at first unsure if she should tell him anything "…my name is Misaki" she says
"Nice to meet you Misaki, try and get some rest. You got a long road to recovery" he says putting the cup on the small table next to the bed
"Am I dead?" Misaki asks looking at the ceiling getting a laugh out of Takumi
"Of course not, you're very much alive. You have my little sister to thank for that, she found you floating in the river. You're safe now" Takumi says
Misaki reaches up to her chest and feels all the bandages and her eyes fill with tears before she covers her face with her hands trying to hold back her tears, Takumi frowns at the sight of her crying.
"Am I really safe? Or is that just another human lie! You humans all end up wanting demons dead in the end" she shouts
Takumi grabs onto her hand gently "I'm not sure what happened to you but I can assure you that you're safe, I'm not lying to you. And if the people that did this to you showed up here this whole town would fight for you, your life is just as important as anyone else's. not all humans are evil" he says holding onto her hand still feeling her tighten her hold on his hand and after a while tires herself out and falls asleep clutching his hand
"I'm sorry for everything that happened to you…" he says quietly and drifts off to sleep.
