On the beach

They still sat on the dock watching over the sea. And Meredith never felt herself so at peace like in this moment. Having Andrew next to her was comforting. And in this moment, she just wanted to enjoy his presence.
She looked at the sandcastle for a moment. It was still standing somehow. The tide had been coming in so fast, but Andrew had managed to save it somehow. For now. She hoped it would keep standing there for a long time.
"If I go back and you don't, I will miss you." She said while she was looking at Andrew. He had his eyes closed, his face turned towards the sun, while he was taking a few deep breaths before he opened them again and took in the sunset in front of him with a slight smile on his lips.
"I want to see more sunsets with you." He answered, his smile getting a little wider, slightly tilting his head while he was looking at her; his eyes shining.
With a smile on their lips, they both turned towards the sea in front of them again, observing how the sunlight was slowly turning into all different shades of orange, painting the sky over the sea in a golden light.
She hoped they both would get to see this many more times together.

I started to write this based on episode 7 (season 17) except that Andrew survived... (And in this story Mer will have an awareness/feeling of what happened on the beach, but she won't know in detail.)
I also started a fanfic (I'll miss you) based on Andrew's death and how Meredith will grieve him...
