Hello, I'm JaviJavi12. Thank you for your interest in reading this story. This is my first FanFic and hopefully, the first of a great set of stories I'm preparing and will integrate my own version of the Smash Bros. Ultimate Universe, or as I will call it from now on, the SSBU-U.

Before you start reading, I'd like to warn you, especially if you're a big fan of this game series, that some aspects about the characters might seem odd, even non-canon to you. I adjusted some topics in order to convey their features into one big Universe and I'm trying as hard as I can to offer a solid and interesting FanFic. I promise those irregularities will make sense as the story progresses. Also, I apologize in advance if you find any minor grammar mistakes. My mother tongue is Spanish as I am from Mexico, but I decided to publish my stories in English so more people can read them. I'll make sure to properly check every text before submitting, but any reviews or commentaries will always be welcomed.

So, without any further delay, let's get this SSBU-U started!

Super Mario: Return of the Koopa King

Location: Mushroom Kingdom. Mario Bros. House

This great story of the SSBU-U starts in Mushroom Kingdom, a colorful country where all live in peace. In a quite and peaceful area, on the outskirts of the Royal District, there is a cute and small house owned by a couple of plumber brothers. The sun has just arised and announces the beggining of a beautiful day.

The younger brother opens the main door and admires the landscape with a smile on his face. Then he places on his head the same hat he has weared for almost his entire life: a red one with an 'M' on top of it, a nice detail as it matches the initial of his name. A few seconds pass by and he turns his head, switching his previous enthusiasm for a little of impatience.

- Mario: Luigi! Come on, brother. We are going to get late to the Castle if you don't hurry up.

The oldest brother finally walks out of the house. He is taller than the other one, and more slim too. Besides he wears exactly the same type of clothes than his brother, he prefers the green color.

- Luigi:(He yawns for several seconds before pronouncing a word.)I'm here Mario. Do you have the rackets?

- Mario:Yes bro. Here's yours. Now let's-a go. We shouldn't make the princesses wait.

The plumbers get into a mushroom-like car and head to the Royal District. It is populated, as the rest of the Kingdom, by cute and humble creatures, known as toads. As they make their way to the Castle, several toads greet them. The Mario Bros. are well known and respected by everybody in the Royal District, as they are good friends of the great monarch of Mushroom Kingdom: Princess Peach, a beautiful young lady, who rules her country watching for the wellness of everyone. She has invited the brothers to a friendly match of tennis, in the castle courtyard.

Location: Royal District. Main entrance to Peach's Castle.

The brothers' car reaches its destination and stops at the main entrance, where it is received by a toad servant.

- Guard Toad: Hi, Mr. Mario! Hi Mr. Luigi! I'm glad to see you again! I'll open the gate immediatly, the princess is waiting for you.

- Mario: Thank you, Toad.

A few minutes later, Mario and Luigi find themselves walking thorough the halls of the Castle. In front of them, another servant Toad politely carries their rackets. Before they reach the door that gives access to the courtyard, a female voice grabs their attention.

- ?: Hello, my dear friends! Isn't it a nice day to play an exciting match of tennis?

Instead of wearing her usual royal dress, the princess wears a pink top, shorts and a pair of tennis. She has also rearranged her blonde hair in a ponytail, according to the occasion.

- Mario: Hi princess, you look great today, as usual.

- Peach: (She blushes slightly and smiles). Thank you, Mario. Are you ready to play?

- Luigi: We're more than ready, princess. But where's Daisy? Hasn't she arrived yet?

- Peach: I knew you would ask that, Luigi. (The plumber in green lets out a little nervous laugh.) She is already at the courtyard. You know how energetic she is. She has started practicing.

They arrive at the courtyard, where a girl in similar out_t than Peach's, but in yellow and orange, is practicing, hitting several balls with her racket. She stops the activity as she notices their friends, happily greeting them and waving her hands.

- Luigi: Hi Daisy! Have these tennis balls stealed coins from the treasury and that is why you are punishing them so badly?

Daisy laughs and hugges Luigi.

- Daisy: Good to see you, green guy! You already know no one can steal from the treasury on my watch! Besides, the only ones who are going to be punished today are our dear companions over there.

- Mario: Hi Daisy! I admire your enthusiasm, but you shouldn't expect us to make it easy for you to win. In fact, you shouldn't expect to win at all.

- Daisy: We'll see that, Mario! So, shall we start?

They start a friendly, but frenetic match of tennis, Peach and Mario vs. Daisy and Luigi. They are all having fun, and after some time, they take a break at the dining room to have a delicious lunch, prepared and served by the toads that work in the Castle. While eating, Mario brings out some conversation.

- Mario: So, Peach. Have you decided how you want to celebrate your birthday tomorrow?

- Peach: Not really, I've been very busy lately and haven't thought about that very much. I'm always attending meetings with ambassadors from other regions.

- Mario: Are they still insisting on buying land?

- Peach: Yes, we have always limited access to tourists here in the Kingdom, but most of them love our land so much that they want to move here. I have received several offers for approving large construction projects. The government of Unova, for example, has offered me millions to let them construct another district for their people.

- Luigi: That money could be very helpful for the Kingdom. You could build more schools, or expand the health service.

- Peach: You're right, but that's not what worries me. It's the Toads. This land has always belonged to them. I have ruled the Mushroom Kingdom for years but only to administrate it and make it flourish. I fear that if I allow foreigners to live here, they will push them away and eventually impose their culture.

- Mario: Do you really think the situation could get that bad? My brother and I arrived here many years ago and we learned to respect their land and interact with them. Aren't people from other regions worthy of a chance as well?

- Peach: You are my friends, and you are good people. But it's not the same to recieve a couple of brothers than to accept the entrance of hundreds, maybe thousands of citizens from other regions.

The princess makes a pause for taking a sip of her drink.

- Peach: That's why I haven't thought about my birthday very much. Maybe I can do something small and simple, you know, with you only.

- Daisy: Come on, don't be like that! It's your BIRTHDAY! We have to celebrate! You need to relax and forget about the ambassadors for a moment. We should make a party at least. We could invite Rosalina!

- Peach: I love my cousin, but you know she's always busy watching the galaxy in her Observatory.

- Daisy: I think she can make a visit tomorrow since it's your birthday! How about Pauline? She's our friend and she also got used to life here as Mario and Luigi! I can call her and her band to make a performance tomorrow.

Peach hesitates to answer.

- Daisy: Come on, Peach, you need it. It's your birthday, and I want you to enjoy it and have a good time with your friends. I'll take care of everything. And don't worry about the ambassadors. We'll find a solution together.

Peach smiles.

- Peach: Ok, then. Thank you, Daisy.

- Luigi: Good to hear that! We'll make sure to bring you a nice present tomorrow.

- Mario: And you should think about your birthday wish.

Peach looks at Mario.

- Peach:My birthday wish?

- Mario: Yes, you only can ask one. So you should decide what you want the most and wish for it when you blow the cake candles.

- Peach:What do I want the most?... I think my birthday wish would be...

The scene gets interrupted by a thunderous noise and a hit that shakes the castle.

- Peach: What's going on?

- Guard Toad: Princess Peach! We're under attack!

Another explosion takes place on the exterior walls of the castle, this time closer to the dining room. The brothers and the princesses go out to the balcony to see what's going on. A few seconds later, an inmense airship emerges just in front of their eyes, and several intruders jump out of it to attack the brothers, in an attempt to kidnap Princess Peach. They all are short, have a scepter on their hands and got a shell with spikes on their backs.

Galar = United Kingdom and rest of Europe

Mushroom Kingdom is another completely different country within the same planet.
