The explosion was loud enough to deafen a man. The large piece of stray meatal that Iris stuck into the ground fell with a sickening creek.
Misha, Iris, and Tyler crawled out through a dent in the metal.
"Did we win?" Iris asked as Tyler helped her up from the ground.
Misha turned around "I think we need to go through that portal!" She said as she darted towards it with the other two not far behind her.
"Careful!" Someone says as Adam lifts the large piece of scrap metal off of them.
"I-I think my legs broken," Reeve said wincing in pain as he dug his fingers into the ground.
"We can still-" Vannessa started.
"No, they're too far." Adam sighed "it's over"
Mira helped Reeve to his feet, and they all sat in silence. There was no way they could catch up. This was the end.
"Good game," Reeve said breaking the dead silence around them.
"Good game," Adam replied cracking a smile.
"Guys!" A voice called from a distance.
They all looked to see weirdy talking to them through an old beat-up TV
"I did it!" he said.
They all ran towards him in a hurry.
"I'm ready to take Hollow Life offline but you gotta get in there now!" he says, pointing to a portal forming itself in the distance.
"You're going to get in a lot of trouble for this aren't you," Adam said with a smile on his face.
"Pfft, There's no Hollow without me" Weirdy replied. "NOW GO ALREADY!" He said as the screen went black.
"You guys go without me," Reeve said looking down at the ground "I won't make it."
"Yeah, you will," Kai said as he and Vannessa lifted Reeve off the ground.
Adam and Mira darted towards the portal with Kai and Vannessa flying not far behind them.
"Run!" The hear someone from team B yell from far away.
They all move faster than ever before desperate for an escape from this place. This wasn't another level in a game. This was life or death.
"Faster!" Kai yelled looking back to see the other group dangerously close to their portal.
They were only a few feet away from the portal when the worst possible thing that could happen happened.
The portal began to slowly close before their eyes. They ran faster, their eyes locked on the target ahead.
They all leaped into the portal. Reeve yelped grabbing his injured leg as Kai and Vannessa tumbled to the ground.
They all sat up from their spots on the ground, looking around.
"No" Adam whispered, "no no no no!" He exclaimed observing his unchanged surroundings.
"We didn't make it," Mira said, looking down at the ground.
"After all that work" Kai started as he rose to his feet "after all of the heartache and stress this is where we end up?."
"We tried our best," Reeve said trying to break the tension between all of them.
After several minutes of them all sitting in silence, the ground began to tremble. Things began glitching and soon their surrounding appeared to disintegrate, leaving a pixilated green wall in its place.
"It was nice knowing y'all," Kai said as he glitched away.
"Kai!" Adam yelled.
Mira glitched away as the walls closed in on her. Soon after Vannessa, Adam, and Reeve joined them. The game had restarted.
