This was it. I was finally here. My heart thudded in my chest as I stood in front of the gates of UA high school. The number one school for future heroes. I can do this. I need to do this. Failure is not an option. Not when I have finally managed to come this far. I thought to myself. Taking a deep breath, I walked into the school ground, following many other students oozing with the same amount of fierce determination, but with a different goal than mine.
After Present Mic gave his briefing, we were all divided into groups and lead to different areas. I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. The task we were assigned with was not too compatible with my quirk. And on top of that, there were so many talented students in my group. I didn't need to come out on top. All I needed was to simply pass. I needed to stay calm and focus. I knew my quirk inside and out. True, I didn't have perfect control over it. But I could use it any way I like. And I hoped it would help me go through this task.
With all the thoughts running around in my head, I didn't notice the starting siren. I was jolted back to reality when someone bumped into me as he rushed towards the open gate. The guy turned back and apologized. I could see the fear and worry pooling in those green eyes of his. But he kept moving forward, his messy green hair bouncing with each step. With a deep sigh, I rushed forward as well. My goals may not be as noble as these future heroes. But they are still important to me.
It would be stupid to follow the crowd. There would be too much competition and too little robots. Plus, given my quirk, I would be at a disadvantage. So, I decided to run towards the crowd. As I got closer to the chaos, I shed my jacket and pulled up the legs of my track pants. Kicking off my shoes, I jumped into action. Suction pads grew on the palms of my hands, knees, and feet and I quickly scaled the walls of a nearby building. I needed a good view. Given the chaos all the examinees were creating, the "villain" robots were sure to be attracted to them. I needed to find out where they were before they reached the trainees and take them down. As I reached the roof, I absorbed the suction pads and quickly moved to the edge. There were three two-pointers headed this way. Lucky me. Let's hope they react to my voice...
"Hey-oh, bitches! I'm Up here!" I called out to the robots. Two of them looked up at me while the other kept on moving forward. Now now, it's rude to ignore a lady when she's speaking. I jumped off the roof, instantly producing a grappling hook from my forearm and shooting it towards a nearby lamp post. The moment It wrapped around the post, I started absorbing the rope back into my body. My weight and the speed with which I was absorbing the rope gave me enough momentum to swing forward. I swung past the robot which ignored me. Turning around, I shot two detonators towards it. They easily stuck to its back. I don't have much time now. Flinging myself forward, I shot more detonators towards the other two robots, making sure not to waste more than necessary. Otherwise, I would run out of stock way too quickly. Once My feet hit the ground, I ducked and rolled to release the shock before springing back onto my feet. Just a few more seconds... I got into a mad dash, trying to increase the distance between me and the robots. But right at that moment, the green-haired guy from before rushed past me towards those robots. Fuck, you idiot! Not that way! That little shit was about to get himself killed! I instantly whirled around and shot another grappling hook towards the guy. I made sure to remove the sharp claws before I ejected it so that it couldn't harm him. The hook wrapped around the guys' torso, and I pulled the rope with all my strength. The guy jerked back before flying towards me. I fucking hope you aren't heavy. I thought bitterly as I widened my stance, ready to catch him. He flew right into my arms, and the impact sent us both tumbling backward. I twisted my body at the last moment, causing me to be on top. The guy, although being small and practically wimpish, still had a sturdier built than me. So, I had a tough time trying to cover all of his body with my own. The robots behind us exploded into bits as I hugged the guy's head, protecting it from the oncoming heat and debris. "W-wait!" The guy chocked. "Shut it, dumbass. I'm more suited to protect you right now. Just tuck your body 'neath me" I said through gritted teeth. The pieces of metal and rocks rained on us. I quickly absorbed whatever fell on top of my bareback or even lightly brushed against my skin. But I couldn't do much about the burns the scalding hot metals left behind. I pushed myself off the guy after the shower stopped, wincing as the burns throbbed. "A-are you al-alright?" the guy asked, tear flooding his eyes. "I'm fine. Just minor burns. You okay?" He looked over his body, and apart from some scratches, he seemed fine. "Well, I gotta go now. Catch you later." I hopped to my feet and took off my track pants. The guy quickly covered his eyes, his ears glowing with a deep red blush. "Gosh you wimp, I still have my pants on." I rolled my eyes. The black shorts I had underneath were fairly intact, but my pants were shredded. Anyways, this worked to my advantage, the extra skin would help me use more of my quirk. "Wait! Wh-what's your name?" The guy called after me as I started jogging off down an alley. "I'll tell you if we both pass the exam!" I yelled back.
This shit wasn't easy. I had already used up most of my detonators and the blisters that had formed on my skin were getting in the way of my quirk. Just imagine pulling out knives from your body when it's covered with angry blisters. Painful. I was already reaching my limit. I managed to gather 38 points. But I feared it wasn't enough. As I staggered back towards the main group, I felt the ground vibrate beneath my feet. An earthquake? With my brain buffering from the pain, I dumbly stared at my feet, waiting for the Shaking to stop. It took me a while to realize everyone in front of me was screaming. What are those dumbasses screaming for? It's just an earth…..quack? I slowly turned around and saw a huge robot looking down on us. This must be the zero pointer. Why the fuck is it huge? I quickly turned forward and started running. The zero pointer slammed its hand into a nearby building, causing it to crumble and debris to fly everywhere. I continued to absorb the smaller ones that hit my body as I ran. I looked back for a moment and my eyes nearly popped out of my sockets. A huge boulder was flying right towards me. Fuck, I don't wanna absorb that! I'm almost at my limit! As I picked up speed, I ran past a girl with brown hair. She was trying to get away too. But it seemed like she was too weak to even stand on her feet. You're too dumb to overuse your quirk! I looked back again and knew the boulder was going to crush the girl if she didn't move. I really don't like risking my life all the time, ya know? I whined as I rushed back to the girl and picked her up. But It was too late. In a split second, I pushed her away as the boulder crashed on top of me. I could hear muffled screams around me. The pain in my leg was almost enough to knock me out. Shit, I knew it would be harder for me to absorb the entire thing. That's why I planned on sacrificing my legs. But this still ain't working out! I just hope someone can get me out of here and heal me. I winced as I tried to move. I was only able to absorb a very small part of the boulder, causing me to be trapped under its heavy weight in a very small cavity. I didn't have much time before I ran out of oxygen. C'mon you little shit, fucking absorb your way out of this! Even though I thought that, I knew I was at my limit. My body felt like it was stuffed to the brim, and if I tried to absorb any more, my body would start falling apart. As I thought of ways to get out of this mess, I felt the ground vibrate again. Shit Shit Shit! Please tell me the robot isn't coming this way! I AM FREAKING STUCK HERE! AND I AM SURE AS FUCK NOT READY TO DIE! I started hyperventilating at the thought of being crushed underneath the boulder. And I almost went into a full-on panic attack when the boulder started moving. I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting to be squashed like a bug. But the weight suddenly lifted. I parted my eyes just a little bit to see the boulder was removed and all the examinees were looking down on me. "You okay there, dear?" An old lady asked. "wha?" I pushed myself onto my elbows looking around. The brown-haired girl threw herself at me, wrapping her arms around me. "I'm so glad you're okay!" was she sobbing?!
"I thought you were squashed by the boulder! I was so scared! I thought I has killed someone!" Yep, she was sobbing. "Hey, even if I was pancaked by that shit, it was my own decision. So you don't need to blame yourself." Fuck ya, your sorry ass almost killed me! I awkwardly patted the girl's shoulder. "I'm Uraraka Ochaco, by the way." She pulled back and smiled at me, wiping her tears with the back of her hand. "I'm Maeno- FUCK THAT HURTS!" I jolted upright and saw the old lady probing my crushed legs with her walking stick. "This one is almost the same as the other one." The lady sighed. She pushed Uraraka away and asked the small robots to carry me to her room. Sensing my distrust, the lady introduced herself as I was being carried away, "I'm Recovery Girl. And I'll heal your legs. For now, just try to relax." Easy for you to say. How the hell am I supposed to relax when my legs hurt this much?! But I didn't argue and laid back down on the stretcher.
Gosh, I hope I passed this test….
