She knew it wasn't a good idea.
I mean, she'd just gotten out of a relationship, and so had he not so long ago. Plus, it seemed like he was starting up some sort of flirtation with Desi, and he'd probably feel weird about dating her because of Jack, and maybe even Boze. That is, he might feel weird if he was even interested in her to begin with.
Which she was sure he wasn't.
It was just, well, obviously Mac was like the best guy around, and in their line of work, there were a lot of close calls, and close calls can sometimes have a way of making people experience things with a heightened sense of emotion. At least, that's probably what Mac would say if he were trying to explain this all away, which he likely would if he ever found out about it.
"Girl, are you okay?" Leanne asked as they shared a table in the cafeteria. The two girls managed to eat lunch together every day, sometimes even without Bozer following them like a little lost puppy, "You have been so weird lately."
"You think?" Riley banged the heel of her hand against her forehead, "God, I'm trying not to be."
"What's going on?" Leanne leaned forward, interested in any gossip about her typically tight lipped pal.
"It's just, I don't know," Riley looked around the crowded cafeteria to make sure no one was paying the two of them any particular attention.
"I think we should do a girl's night," Leanne smiled. She was always trying to coerce her more tomboy friend into a mani/pedi chat sesh, but she'd be unsuccessful so far. Riley apparently was very capable of painting her own nails black, thankyouverymuch.
"Yeah," Riley smiled sheepishly, "That actually sounds good."
