Luna had defeated her father last year and now she questioned herself. The Malfoy family ignored her and no longer involved her in any conversations and they weren't even hiding it. Mr Malfoy had even banned Draco from speaking with Luna but Draco talked with Luna every chance he got, especially at practice. Luna felt so alone that she befriended the house elves but her best friend was Dobby. She loved him too much that she would do anything for the elf. It was three days before school opened for the third year so Luna decided to take her money and the list of the books that will be needed this year and went to the fire place and and said " Diagon Ally" and threw dust and vanished in a smoke of fire . Luna appeared in another room and quickly dusted herself before examining her surroundings. There were a pile of slim boxes in many high shelves. She immediately knew where she was and smiled remembering when Mr Malfoy had taken her and Draco to get their wands. Luna remembered that Mr Malfoy had given her a wand that was the family inheritance and it had responded to her well. She had fallen in love with it but she knew her father had once held it and that thought only made her shiver when she looked at the black wand. She said hello to Mr Pensieve before going out the door. She went near a broom store and at that moment she heard a shriek behind her. Luna turned and saw Pansy , Blaise and Theo with smirks on their faces.

" Luna I didn't know you were coming here. Is Draco with you?" asked Pansy looking around.

"Draco couldn't come because of something uncle wanted him to do. What are you three doing here?"

"Pansy wanted to come here so she can see Mal..." Theo was interrupted by Pansy who said she came here to buy a potion.

"Well I was just looking at some good brooms for quidditch."

" Found any?" asked Blaise

"Yes, the voltage 2000 and the new nimbus 200 000"said Luna with a smile.

"Nice options but I would go with the nimbus 200 000" said Theo

"Would you stop talking about brooms not all of us are into them" said Pansy which made the boys snicker.

"We have to go anyway,see you later" said Pansy as she gave Luna a hug and then Luna kissed the boys on the cheek. They were used to Luna's antics so they just chuckled and followed with a sigh behind Pansy. Luna walked to some of the book stores that had the books she needed. Just as she was in the potions store she saw Hermione.

"Luna , you're also buying your required books early."

"Yes and how have you been?"

"Well and I have been on a vacation with my parents to Italy"

"Oh...um have you heard from Harry?" asked Luna hopefully. Hermione looked at her with a sad smile.

"No but I have sent some letters to him but he hasn't replied"

"Oh" she said and smiled at Hermione even though it was not her usually happy smile.

"Are you okay Luna?"

"I'm fine but if you ever get in contact with him, tell him I said hello" said Luna

"I will"

"Dobby needs to go" said Dobby rushing out of Luna's room. Luna ran to follow him but was stopped by Lucius

"Where do you think you're going?"

"Uncle I was just going to...to the garden"

"Good, we wouldn't want you to get into trouble" said Lucius with a evil smirk

"Yes uncle" she said and excused herself as she rushed down the stairs and into the kitchen but she couldn't see. Luna waited the whole day for Dobby but he never came to sight.

At supper Luna was really worried and couldn't even eat so she went to bed early. Just as she was preparing to sleep she heard a knock on her door.

"Luna can I come in?"

"Yes"

Narcissa came in and sat next to Luna on the bed.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine aunt Narcissa"

"I know you are not. Is it about your father?"

"I feel so weak and even uncle regards me as a disappointment. I even see myself as one"

"Luna you're not a disappointment. You are very strong and capable of doing anything. You might feel like everyone has lost hope on you but don't lose hope. Trust in your instincts and they'll never lie to you"

"Thank you aunt"

"Don't you ever forget that I love you and you're my niece. I will always protect you," said Narcissa brushing Luna's hair. Luna smiled and gave Narcissa a hug.

"Now go to sleep" she said before kissing Luna on the cheek and left

"Miss! miss!" whispered a voice in Luna's ear .

" Dobby? What are you doing in here and not in bed?" asked Luna as she opened her eyes and yawned. Luna looked at into Dobby's excited face.

" Dobby has a present from..." he looked around.

" Harry Potter"

Luna got out of bed and kneeled beside Dobby.

" Where is it?" asked Luna

" Here"

Dobby took out a amulet with her initials and Harry's engraved in the golden front.

" Oh, I love it Dobby" she said with a smile as she stared at the green emerald in the middle of the amulet.

" Dobby also has something for your birthday. Dobby hopes you like it"

Luna gently opened the gift and there it was a hand made bracelet and it was enchanted. Luna smiled and gave Dobby a huge tight hug.

" Thank you Dobby but why give me now?"

" Dobby won't be able to give it to you at Hogwarts" said Dobby

" I love it and I will put a charm that your name"

Just as Luna was about to say another thing to Dobby, her bedroom door flung open. There stood Lucius Malfoy with a sneer on his face. Dobby shivered and hid behind Luna who held her arm defensively infront of Dobby.

" Dobby come here!" shouted Lucius.

Dobby shook his head and slowly went to Mr Malfoy. Lucius grabbed Dobby by his ear and kicked him out of the room.

Luna could hear Dobby's cries and apologies. She quickly took her wand and followed her uncle downstairs.

" Stop!" shouted Luna as Lucius tossed Dobby on the floor and turned to look at Luna. Narcissa and Draco came downstairs but stopped at their tracks when they saw Luna pointing her wand at Lucius.

" Luna?" said Narcissa

" Let Dobby go"

" You do not have the guts to..." he never finished his sentence because Luna sent a spell at him. Lucius deflected it and sent a cruciate spell but Luna moved out of the way and sent a stunning spell.

" Enough, you dare protect this house elf then you shall learn some manners" said Lucius hitting her with a cruciate spell. Luna fell to the ground clutching the floor. She screamed and looked at Dobby who wanted to help her but Luna shook her head and then everything went dark.
