A few weeks have gone by on the island ever since the arrival of a new villager and things have been rather, interesting so to speak. Judy, the newest member of the island family was your typical glamour girl, she loved fashion, makeup, and cute things. She was a bit vain, she talked about herself every chance she got, actively fishing for compliments on her admittedly fashionable dresses she brought from home. Many of the other villagers found it to be a bit draining after a while, merely humoring her ramblings to satisfy her own desire to hear her own voice. Sometimes she would butt heads with a lot of the villagers, commenting on their drab styles and blatantly telling them what to do about their appearances and style choices. Never mind the Able Sisters, this cub was a force to be reckoned with when it came to her opinion on fashion and makeup. A real fashionista, a diva, and an all-around untamed brat.
On a particularly chilly day, everyone was out and about, enjoying the cool breeze caressing the island. Kygo, the island's Resident Representative, thought it would be perfect to test a new hot cocoa recipe that he would always make at home during the winter before he came to the island. He made a little event of it, served hot cocoa and fresh baked scones filled with pears he picked. Everyone was enjoying themselves thoroughly, the island was cozy once again, even Judy was more cordial that day and she was even complimenting others on their coats and where they found them at. Kygo was relieved that he was able to keep her snooty attitude at bay, even for just a little bit. However, that changed when Nate rushed onto the scene. Naturally, everyone was pleased to see Nate, the lazy bear still half asleep but the smell of pastries beckoned him from his little den.
"Yaaaaawwwwwnnnn, oh man, hey Kygo, what's that wonderful stuff I smell?"
Kygo turned to him and smirked, handing him two scones and an extra big cup of hot cocoa.
"You're lucky I had some set aside for you bud, you almost missed some pear scones and my famous hot cocoa."
"Oh man, oh wow, this looks great! Can't wait to dig in, yaaaaaawwwnnn."
That's when Kygo noticed Judy was giving Nate the side-eye as he took a bite out of his scone. He knew that look, a twinkle different from the usual sparkles in her eyes. She was about to say something off-putting to the poor man. Kygo picked up on this from many conversations with her. Every time she's about to belittle someone, her eyes begin to gleam slightly, just beneath those big stars in her eyes. He knew those little gleams too well. Kygo made eye contact with her and with a stern look, he mouthed at her, "Don't you dare". In a sheer act of defiance and compulsion, Judy marched her way over to the lazy bear and pointed her finger in his face and effectively told him off.
"Nate, ohmigosh, what are you doing, myohmy?! Look at what you're wearing, everyone here is dressed nice and your coat looks like it was yanked from a trash bin, myohmy! Ew, is that a coffee stain or something?" She pointed to the big blotch on Nate's coat on the sleeves towards the cuff, where he most likely wiped his mouth. "Gross, unacceptable, just plain EW! Ugh, why can't you care about your appearance for once, it won't kill you to look somewhat presentable, myohmy!"
Kygo saw it coming and didn't know what to do to prevent it from happening. She always gets her way in the end, even if he fought her off here, she'd find another way to chew him out later. Everyone just watched as the cotton candy cub tore him down, wincing at her harsh words. After she stormed off, Kygo ran over to console Nate, saying that style is subjective, and he should wear what makes him happy and comfortable. He didn't say anything, just looked at Kygo with a defeated expression. With his head down, he quietly shuffled back to his house, a little rain cloud hanging over his head all the way home.
Judy had been easy to deal with; her personality was a bit abrasive in some areas, but she was decent when she wasn't being rude. However, this time, she went too far. Kygo tucked his tongue in his cheek and glared at Judy. It was rare that Kygo ever got upset and the others could tell he was fed up with Judy's shenanigans. He shoved his hands in his pockets and marched over the cub, the ground seemingly burning behind him as he walked towards her. He was furious. When Judy turned around, she ran right into Kygo who was standing there, looming over her small frame. She yelped and stepped back a bit from the towering human, at least in comparison to her, being at least five heads taller than her. She gulped and tried to keep her composure as she stared up at him.
"O-oh, hiiii there Kygo, I didn't see you there! How are you, myohmy?" she said coyly. She tried to act cute, swaying side to side and segued into talking about Kygo's cooking skills and how great the cocoa was. He narrowed his eyes at her, shattering her little ploy immediately. She recoiled and looked down as he kept glaring at her, twiddling her fingers. After a few tense seconds, Kygo exhaled and pulled his dreads back out of his eyes then leaned over until his face was just inches from hers. His silvery blue eyes seemed to make the air feel colder than what it was, sending shivers up her spine.
"Come by my house, no later than seven, we need to talk," he growled. "Don't…" he paused and inhaled, biting back a spike of anger in his chest, "do NOT make me come get you Judy." He turned away from her and headed back to his house. The other villagers were just watching, visibly shaken by Kygo's change in demeanor. But none more than Judy, her heart was pounding, and her knees were weak. She had never been so terrified before and, possibly aroused? Did she enjoy being spoken to so sternly? There's no way, it had to have been the adrenaline, her fight or flight response had kicked in, but she was frozen with fear when he got in her face. Yeah! There's no way she'd fall for such big, cold, gorgeous eyes… She shook her head and scoffed. There's no way she'd be distracted by those pretty eyes and strong arms, not this fashionista. She paused, realizing she complimented his eyes again. This might be harder than she thought.
