"RUN, RIKI! GET OUTTA HERE!"
"MOM! NO!!"
*AACK!*
Her lungs took a sharp inhale as her eyes snapped open, the first sensation to hit her body was a stab of pain from head to toe. Next was the sickening scent of chemicals, unlike anything she had smelt before – it was clean almost disinfected. As her vision cleared there was a strange white glow to the room, a beeping sound to her left that caught her attention causing her to wince as she turned her head to see a machine. The wires from the machine went across to her chest, travelling far under the white gown she was now dressed in.
What's going on?
Where was she?
When she tried to move it hurt but not as bad as the initial stab of waking up, she investigated the locations of the wires and found three bumps surrounding where her heart was to be found. She tugged on them lightly to find out they were stuck on her chest, what they were for she didn't know but now she was beginning to panic as it was too quiet.
How did she get here?
She slowly sat up in the bed wincing as she moved, looking around she began to notice certain aspects of her room. It was almost sterile – like a hospital room but something told her that it wasn't an ordinary hospital.
The walls were a pale cream colour with a couple of pictures hanging up, the door had a single circular pane of frosted glass. A fan spun slowly from the middle of the ceiling providing a gentle downwards breeze through the room, it was a strange but refreshing sensation but she was far more interested in the room around her.
It sparked a small hint of curiosity among her confusion, it didn't take long before she began trying to move again and this time it was towards the edge of the bed. She clumsily shuffled and swung her legs over the side of the bed, ignoring the dull pain that came with it as she pushed herself into trying to stand up.
Her bare feet pressed against the cold wooden floor, putting her weight on both legs made her feel like they were made of putty. The wobbled lightly as she held onto the bed for a moment before she felt a little more confident, she let go and took a small step...
A decision she soon came to regret as her left leg gave out and she toppled to the cold hard floor below, a small yelp left her lips as she hit the floor while the pain she had felt before was once again amplified. It wasn't long after this that she heard footsteps, light at first but they soon got heavier and faster. She tried to get up but her balance was badly impaired like a cat after losing its tail...
Tail..?
In the passing few moments she hadn't even thought about her tail until now, a small ball of dread filled her gut as she gingerly a hand towards her lower spine. She'd expected to feel a thick furry tale extending from the bottom of her back – but there was nothing more than a thick wad of bandages and a soreness that confirmed her dread in seconds.
Where the hell was her tail?!
Her true power could well have been taken with it meaning if there was danger she could be screwed, she pushed herself up onto her feet and stood ready for whatever came through that door. She was a little unsteady on her feet but her instincts began to take over, the small dose of adrenaline trickled through her system causing her heart to thump in her chest and remind her of the dull ache that lingered.
Gritting her teeth she ripped the wires from her chest to grant her freedom of movement, soon the IV drip followed drawing a small droplet of crimson blood to roll a few centimetres down the inside of her elbow. She no longer needed these items and they would only slow her down if she needed to make an escape, dropping the items to the floor below she was now ready for whoever or whatever was coming into the room.
The door rattled slightly with a clunking sound as though a lock was being undone, seconds later the door swung open and revealed a turquoise-haired woman standing there looking as stunned as her patient.
"Wait...y-you're awake...?"
