Ghost Fragment: The Dark Age

"No one knew what had happened to the Traveler. No one understood what happened to the world. But they heard the whispered call."

. . .

They came from the wild lands, gathering in secret enclaves, slipping through the howling ruins of shattered cities, hoping to find the coast, find a ship, pick up the trail of an impossible dream.

From the deep black came the Awoken, their eyes haunted. Exos marched in the refugee columns, clocked in moss and shattered memories. And among them came the Ghosts, beginning their search.

It was a time of vast suffering and terrible evil. But there was one hope: the promise of a refuge beneath the Traveler.

. . .

How long has it been?

He can't remember but running Interference is what brought them back. Where it started for them, this conflict between good and evil. Light and Dark. Eris Morn knew little of the secret they've kept from the Vanguard... advised it was best to remain inconspicuous and oblivious.

Standing here in the dead valley bordered by rocks shattered with time, it felt strange yet comforting to the Hunter. Another Guardian, a Titan, kept him company in the quiet Mexican desert. No words were spoken, as no words were needed.

They returned, here, their home away from home, to reminisce. About a time that left them feeling so hopeless... something that the Red War couldn't convey when Dominus Ghaul stole the Light. Kicking the dirt around before them, the Hunter digs through a shallow grave and grimaces at the skeletal remains inside.

The Titan kneels by the grave and removes a little, leather book worn out by time. He stands tall, shadowing the Hunter in height, and hands over the book. As the Hunter takes it, the Titan tightens his hold and says...

"Let's get to Europa, brother."
