So, hi. Welcome to my other piece of garbage. Now, you might want an explanation for well...a few things.
Yeah, I'm alive, it's a miracle. For those who have been waiting for an update to World of Gray, I'm guessing you want to know why...it's been a while since I've updated it. Well, long story short, writer's block. I am absolutely stuck. I have the plot for the chapter and everything, but I can't put it into words. So, today, I had a thought: "They all probably think I'm dead, and since I'm stuck there, why not post something new?"
Then I came across this thing I wrote a year ago and decided to give it a bit of a fix and post it.
And for those that have no idea what I'm talking about, basically, I'm proving that I'm not dead to a few other people.
Oh, and this will be your usual 'Human in Splatoon' thing, don't like, don't read.
Now, disclaimers:
I have a scarce idea of what I'm doing, meaning this will be absolutely terrible. You have been warned.
I am a chronic procrastinator, I will most likely update slowly (though I will try to keep a schedule).
I own absolutely nothing. If I did own this stuff, I wouldn't be writing here.
Now, here's the garbage you've been waiting for.
Future
Chapter 1
"I wake up with a headache."
Run
Escape
Those were the only thoughts in my head as I rushed through the facility. I could hear the loud sirens and orders being yelled behind me. I could feel the dart in my neck slowly take effect, but I kept pushing on, reminding myself of what would occur if I stopped.
I silently thanked my sense of direction as I ran right for the Pod Wing. I guess the many years I've been taken through these halls have paid off. The yelling behind me was becoming louder by the minute. I sprinted as fast as I could, almost running into a wall. The edges of my vision were growing darker, and my movements were becoming slower, but I managed to open one of the heavy, steel doors and enter the device. The escape pod was a small cylindrical room, only large enough to hold one person, and the space within it was filled by a chair and a series of buttons and dials embedded into the wall. Thankfully, the buttons were labeled, allowing me to quickly find the switch that would seal the entrance to it. I flipped just before the guards arrived, locking them out and leaving only a heavily fortified window, allowing me to see them attempt to force the door open.
I sighed in relief, realizing I was safe for now, but I couldn't afford to stop, I had to launch the pod before it was opened by a remote override. I searched for the buttons that would launch the pod, ignoring the yells of the guards behind me. I was barely keeping myself awake, feeling my senses fade away, but I could clearly hear one of the guards yell: "R-17! Step out of the pod immediately!"
But it was too late, I had made my mind, and located the launch button. I sat down and pressed my hand on it, before letting myself sleep. All I could feel at that moment, was the impulse of the pod as it distanced itself from the facility.
I awoke to a robotic voice echoing in the pod.
"WARNING. POD INTEGRITY DAMAGED."
Oh god
A crash threw me off the seat of the small room. I didn't know what was going on, or how any of this happened, but all I knew is that I was going to die. I was never going to see the sun, or the moon, or the stars. I was never going to see what a tree looked like. I was never going to taste a burger...whatever those were.
Another crash sent me into the other side of the pod. The voice came back.
"LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS DAMAGED. BEGINNING EMERGENCY CRYOSTASIS."
A cyan substance filled the room. It was cold, as in very cold. It continued to fill the room, and before I knew it, it had reached my neck, and was still rising. I tried to swim up, only to feel the roof above me. It had filled the room, coating me in it completely. I felt everything become numb, as I slowly fell into sleep (or unconsciousness, or death). I got one last look out the window on the door and saw nothing but an endless ocean.
Then I passed out, knowing that these were probably my last moments.
"CRYOSTASIS SUCCESSFUL. ACTIVATING SLEEP MODE. DURATION:...ERROR, SLEEP DURATION UNDETERMINED."
Somewhere deep in the ocean, a metallic cylinder rested, and it rested there for thousands of years. As time passed, the earth changed as well. The world he knew fell, and once the waters receded, a new world was born. The rise and fall of the waters had displaced his small (and surprisingly sort of light) pod, and with the currents moving him, slowly, he soon found himself on a beach, still partially within the ocean's wet grasp.
And soon, someone found him.
I've been here for two days, and I'm already doing something that might get me in trouble. Isn't that amazing?
My name is Sarah Current, and you could consider my life unusual, if you look at it from a certain angle. I recently moved from Calamari County to Inkopolis, and things are pretty good. I've gotten my battler ID and won a few matches, I have my own place (although it is pretty small), and I even managed to make a friend without embarrassing myself in a horrible way.
And on a sunny afternoon, I was worn out from battling and was going back to my apartment after hanging out with Kira (that friend I just mentioned), and then I thought to myself; 'Hey, why don't we go for a walk over at the beach? No one ever goes there anyway, it'll just be a peaceful place to relax .'
Yeah, big mistake, though it could also be called the best decision of my life.
So, here I am, walking on the coastline, scaring a few seagulls off every now and then, and thinking, a lot. I guess being alone for a long time does that to you. And then, I found what would cause a lot of trouble for me in the future.
It was a big, white cylinder laying in the sand, which made me think it was a container. I would have probably left it alone if it wasn't for the door on it's side. It was slightly buried in the sand, but not enough to block it. On said door, there was a round window, like one you'd see on a submarine. I looked through it and saw nothing but a cyan substance.
'Huh,' I thought 'I guess it's nothin- oh cod is there someone in there?'
As I looked closer, I noticed I could see the silhouette of what looked like an inkling, floating in the container.
"Holy- Hang in there! I'll get you out!" I exclaimed. Now, you might be asking, why would I mess with something that probably doesn't concern me? Well, fourteen year old me didn't have an ounce of common sense, that's why. And that's how I found myself trying to pry the door of the container open.
I figured it wasn't locked, considering it moved a pretty good amount when I first pulled, but the door wouldn't move anymore than that. Either the locks were rusted, or something was holding it back, and I'm willing to bet it's the former. I tugged again, it opened a little more. I pulled with every ounce of strength in my teenage body and…
With a loud creak, it opened. Spilling out the strange cyan liquid that filled it. And then, the being within the container rolled out.
And at that moment, I finally figured out it wasn't an inkling.
Cold…
So cold…
Why?
Is that...light?
It's bright...warm...must...reach…
I opened my eyes and instantly regretted it, as bright sunlight entered my eyes, temporarily blinding me. Soon, my eyes adjusted to the brightness of the area and I saw that I was lying in a bunch of sand. My stiff body protested as I slowly sat up, and took a look around, it was just an ordinary beach, with sand, a strange squid-teen hybrid, and the sea.
Wait…
I turned to the squid person that was sitting near me. We both made eye contact for a few moments...then we simultaneously screamed.
So, this is the garbage I've created at 3 in the morning. You probably hated it.
Welp, have a nice day.
