As it's my friend's birthday I thought I'd write a small one shot of a friendship that spans over seas. Riberio1986 Happy Birthday! To save time and mind, as I'm suffering though a thick fog of a head cold, all the dialog will be in English instead of Portuguese. This follows the "License to Hunt" storyline.
The beautiful sea side of Brazil made Ana Serpico sigh heavily. Yes she enjoyed the beauty she got to see daily but she longed for something different. Like when she traveled to a small Brazilian town that was plagued by an ancient evil. Many of the residents were fearful that they would one day be snatched up by the monster that surrounded their small village. But when Ana had read about the kidnappings she knew what they were dealing with. She remembered that a friend she had met a couple of years before gave her a crash course of hunting the monsters that walked the earth.
Ana winced as the scar she had gotten from her battle with the monster pulled against her shirt. Her long raven hair braided tightly in a long braid fell over her shoulder and tickled the pinkish line.
"Ana," her mother knocked before opening her bedroom door. "Happy Birthday."
"Thank you Mother." Ana smiled walking over and hugging her mother close. "What are those?"
"Oh, your birthday cards." Ana's mother said with a smile. "There's one from America. I think from South Dakota."
Ana's face lit up with a smile as she grabbed her small pile of cards and began to tear into them. Most of them were from her family with a small amount of money inside. Ana knew that they were kind enough to remember but she wanted to get to the one from America. From her sister. From Christina.
Ana found the letter addressed to her in readable writing and tore the envelope. Something clattered to her desk and she saw it was a small charmed necklace on a silver chain. Ana smiled as she quickly clasped it around her neck. Something shivered down her spine as it landed on her skin but thought it was from the fact she didn't wear a lot of jewelry. But it didn't matter as she pulled the card from the envelope and opened it.
"Ana," it started making Ana smile. "I know this seems a bit cheesy and weird but I wanted to send you a token of my friendship to you for your birthday. I hope that you got this on it, if it's on time then Happy Birthday. If I'm late then Happy Belated. Inside is a necklace that will protect you from demons. So keep it on you at all times. Not much for long letters so, Have a safe and Happy Birthday. -Christina"
Ana chuckled at the end of the letter and looked at herself in the mirror. The small charmed necklace sat perfectly against her skin and she thought that small tingle she felt was the power of it finally protecting her.
"Thank you friend." Ana said closing her friend's card. "Thank you."
The End
