The world was on fire..

A black smog had covered the sky, hiding the warm light of the sun and replacing it with the burning glow of volcanos and ash

Even the ocean, once an unstoppable body of force filled with life, was sure to be doomed with all the creatures that chose to reside in it.

And life on land fared no better. Any form of plant life burned and withered into dust, leaving only a grey and inhospitable land that could never heal.

And as one last cruel measure the ground itself cracked and shattered like glass, entire continents somehow lifting from the steaming waters, leaving only depths of fire and destruction behind.

But then, in the darkest of times, when hope was clouded by fear, when all strength gave out, and all seemed lost, a light shined through the darkness.

The orange glow that burned the ground and scorched the living started to dim and, through some miracle, recede into the open chasms left behind by the land that once was there.

Then came a chilling wind that cooled the burning wounds of the world and gathered the steam that was once the ocean, returning it back to it's former glory.

And a surge of electricity surged through the smog. Separating the clouds to reveal a beautiful purple tinted dawn, and the comfortingly bright glow of the sun returned.

Rocks and rubble started to tremble, slowly moving toward the gaping holes and chasms that scarred the world. Slowly piecing back together and melding into their rightful places.

The world had been saved, brought back from near extinction. But not everything could be healed.

Although much of the planet was restored there were still vast openings with several floating islands looked over what was yet to be healed, leaving floating islands to float through the sky.

The world was reborn, in a torrent of fire and destruction hope was never lost and for that the land and creatures on it were saved from the clutches of death.

But something had changed. Not only were there islands floating in the sky but there was something new… something that wasn't there before. I've looked through all these books and questioned the chroniclers of old but neither have any clue what they could be. These two new anomalies are quite interesting, wouldn't you agree, Rull?
