Disclaimer - I don't own Harry Potter.

This story is a little different than anything I've written before. It's sort of a mystery, but it's also kind of like a crime thing. It's based loosely off of "The Reichenbach Fall" from Sherlock and "Spyfall, Pt. 1" from Doctor Who. I thought it was an interesting concept. Please let me know what you think!

Three days. That was how long the twins and John were gone. Three horrifying days of not being able to find them anywhere. Bill was so certain that his brothers were dead that he had almost given up searching when Fleur found it.

A little compartment on the third floor of the Ministry. It had been dead dangerous to go searching the Ministry without precautions being taken, but Bill and Fleur (much to his dismay) had risked it.

The little door opened into a full-height room, but it wasn't by any means spacious. It was absolutely freezing. Three men, two of them identical, were seemingly dead. Fleur examined John's body, which seemed to be in the worst shape, while Bill took Fred's head into his hands.

Fred was, indeed, breathing steadily. Bill couldn't hold in a sigh of relief, though they were supposed to be silent. He turned to Fleur to mouth "he's alright," when he saw a lone tear fall down her face.

"Dead," she mouthed. "For at least a day."

Bill buried his face in his hands. How would Fred react when he woke? Did he already know?

Praying that worse news didn't await him, Bill set out to examine George.

That was when he noticed something off. Not only was George breathing, but he was the only person with a wand. There was something else hooked around his finger as well. It was...but it couldn't have been...not George...

It was a key-chain of the Dark Mark.
