Ah yes. Pride Month. This one-shot features a fully blind Kaminari and his adorably overprotective boyfriend Shinsou. This is also a quirkless AU, so there will be no mention of their quirks, their peers, or anything UA-related.

I smiled as I watched Denki play with the flowers at his feet. He ran his fingers over the edges of soft petals, staring sightlessly off into the horizon with the most beautiful golden eyes I had ever seen.

He had been born blind, so he knew nothing of what the world looked like. He couldn't walk anywhere unless someone was beside him, walking with him. He couldn't do most things a normal fifteen-year-old kid like him could do. But he was still so very happy. I didn't care that he couldn't see anything. I was in love with him and I wanted to keep his seemingly infinite happiness alive, no matter what.

"What kind of flowers did you say these were again?" he asked, cheerfully.

"Daffodils." I reached out and put my hand over his free one, smoothing my thumb across his wrist. "Tch. I told you that not five minutes ago."

"Sorry, I'm forgetful sometimes." that adorable, goofy grin of his only brightened. "I like these. They're soft. Are they pretty?"

"They're very pretty." I told him, snaking my arms around his narrow waist and pulling him into my lap. "You know, my mother used to love daffodils. I used to pick them for her all the time when I was little."

"Huh. Does she have good taste? What do they look like?"

"Do you always ask fifty-two billion questions at once?" I snorted.

"Hey, don't be rude. That was only two questions, Hitoshi." Denki felt around blindly until he found my face, which he cupped between both hands with a touch so light and reverent it made me blush.

He was always careful when he touched another human because he didn't know exactly what part of them he was touching, and he didn't want to startle them or goof anything up.

I often wondered what it was he saw. Was it always just an infinite abyss of blackness? Or maybe it was a certain color? I'd never know. I always felt a stab of pity whenever I thought of it. The poor thing was always stumbling around in complete and utter darkness. He'd never seen the world before. Didn't know what anything looked like.

"You're right, I'm sorry." I apologized sincerely, leaning into his hands and closing my eyes. "You're so sweet, Denki. I'm lucky to have you."

"Gimme a kiss?"

I was more than happy to oblige. I gently pried his hands off my face and pulled him closer so I could connect our lips. He was always telling me how much he loved kissing me, he said it was the closest he'd ever come to knowing what the word "beautiful" meant. His movements were always jerky and uncertain, like a bird's, but I compensated for that by hooking my hand around the back of his head, keeping him still.

"Now," he said, when I finally pulled away for air. "describe them to me. What do they look like?"

"What does what look like?" I asked, in a brief moment of confusion.

"The daffo-thingies. I already forgot their name again, dammit."

"The daffodils?"

"Yes, those."

I glanced down at the seemingly endless golden field of flowers we were sitting in, trying to find the best, most descriptive words possible to explain it to him. Being with Denki always forced me to look around and pay attention to details, he was always asking me to describe things to him so he could imagine what they looked like. I had no idea how close his imagination was to reality when it came to my descriptions of the real thing, so I tried to make it as good as possible so he would understand at least a little bit what the world around him looked like. A world that he'd never seen before and never would see in his life. It made me unbelievably sad to think of how miserable his life must be. He would live the rest of his life and die lost in darkness, with nothing but my descriptions of the world to cling to.

"They're bright yellow, kind of golden." I said, slowly. "They have three or four petals each, five in some cases, that curl upward into a bulb shape with a small opening at the top. There's sweet pollen inside the bulb that only butterflies and hummingbirds can get to because they have long tongues. The petals are round and blunt, no sharp edges."

Denki nodded from time to time so I knew he was still listening. I took his hand about halfway through my description and gently guided it to a small daffodil flower growing near his leg, so he could explore it with his nimble, deft fingers, feeling his way around and getting a general idea of what I was talking about from his sense of touch.

"They sound so pretty..." he sighed, and I detected a pang of sorrow and loneliness that only a blind person can know in his voice.

"They are." I assured him, pulling him closer and pressing my lips to the nape of his neck, brushing his golden-blonde hair out of the way to do so. "But not as pretty as you, my little firefly."

Firefly was a cute nickname I'd given him after he'd somehow managed to catch one in his bare hands without my help. We had been out camping with his family, who had been kind enough to invite me along, and when dusk crept over our campsight the fireflies came out. He'd asked me to describe them to him, and when one flew past his face, he somehow managed to snatch it right out of the air without killing it. He'd set it free soon after.

"Hitoshi?" he called out, and I realized I'd been silent for quite some time now, watching him trace the outline of my arm with one finger, exploring the expanse of my skin.

"Yes, kitten?"

"What do colors look like?"

The question caught me off guard because he'd never asked anything about color before. I'd always assumed he knew what colors looked like, but now that I thought of it, he'd never seen them before so how could he possibly know? And, more importantly, how was I supposed to describe them to him?

"Oh, um... Colors..." I stuttered, suddenly at a loss for words.

"It's okay if you can't. I know they're something everyone just kinda knows what they are and what they look like, so if it's impossible to describe them, I get it." he told me, smoothing his fingers over the back of my hand with the softest, sweetest touch. "I've never been able to imagine them though, and if I have, I don't know what they're called or if they're even color at all."

I was suddenly struck by an idea. Colors were often used to represent emotions. Denki knew what emotions were, what they felt like, so maybe it would help him understand color at least a little bit.

"Well... There's yellow." I said, glancing down at the flowers scattered around us. "Like the daffodils. Yellow is usually a very bright, vivid color that represents happiness, or cheerfulness, or just sheer, unmarred joy."

"I didn't know a color could be happy." Denki giggled, temporarily distracted by the idea of a happy color.

"Well, colors can't feel emotions like people can, but they do represent them." I nuzzled the side of his neck, inhaling deeply, taking in his soft lavender scent. "Then there's blue. Blue is a sad, mellow, deep color. It's not bright unless it's the sky. The sky is a very bright blue."

"Colors can be bright and dark?" Denki squeaked out, sounding childishly fascinated. I had to choke back a sharp, sarcastic reply and remind myself that he had absolutely no idea what colors were or how they worked.

"Yeah, they can." I smiled and nodded. He tilted his head back so it was resting on my shoulder and sighed softly.

"Colors sound so pretty. I wish I knew what they looked like so I wouldn't have to annoy you with my stupid questions."

"Don't be like that, kitten. You don't ever have to worry about annoying me. I'll answer any question you ask to the best of my ability. Your questions aren't stupid, I find it adorable that you're so fascinated with the world around you." I reassured, taking his hand and lacing our fingers together.

"You're so warm..." Denki hummed, turning his head and pressing his face into the crook of my neck. "What do I look like, Hitoshi?"

I was silent for a moment. "You're beautiful, Denki. Absolutely stunning. I'm not sure how else to describe you. You're just perfect."

"That doesn't help me at all. What do you look like?"

"A piece of shit."

He swatted my arm. "Shut up, no you don't. I'm sure you're gorgeous. And even if you aren't, your personality is. That's why I love you, I don't even know what you look like and I never will but your personality makes you seem like an angel."

I sighed and kissed his pale forehead. "How are you so happy and positive all the time? I'd be miserable if I couldn't see a thing." I reached up to smooth my hand through soft blonde hair.

"Well, it's simple, really. I get to spend all my time imagining what things look like. And even though I'm sure my version of reality is all kinds of dorky and messed up compared to the real thing, it's still fun because the world is whatever I want it to be." he explained, smiling softly. He was so cute and sweet. I absolutely adored him. "And why be miserable when I have so many lovely people in my life that help me get through it? Especially you. You've made my life so much better in so many ways I've lost count. It's impossible to be miserable when I've got you."

I stole a few kisses along the side of his neck, making him giggle and blush. He was ticklish and hypersensitive to any sort of touch because not being able to see anything heightened his other senses. I nipped his ear playfully and said, "You're very, very ticklish, kitten."

"If you tickle me I'll make you as blind as I am." he shot back.

"You can't find my eyes on your own so how are you gonna do that?" I slipped my hands under his shirt just so I could stroke his sides, fingers dancing over soft, sensitive skin.

He burst out laughing, wriggling and squirming, unable to fend me off. "Hitoshi, stoooop!"

"Then don't threaten me, dork." I smiled and kissed his temple. "Especially when you're in absolutely no position to threaten me in the first place."

"Fine, fine, you win." he flopped over dramatically, sprawling across my lap. There was a long moment of silence before he spoke again. "Hitoshi?"

"Yes, firefly?"

"If I could be any color in the world, what would I be?"

I snickered. "You'd be the brightest, most obnoxious, conspicuous yellow in the world."

"I think you'd be a nice, soft purple color." Denki said, smiling warmly as he stared sightlessly off into a sky he'd never see in his life. "I don't know what purple is or what it looks like but I know it's a color, and I think it suits you. Don't ask how or why... I just know."

I did a double-take. "Purple's my favorite color. You know me so well." I combed my fingers through his soft blonde hair with a happy sigh.

There was no way he could've known what my favorite color was. And yet he managed to guess it entirely on accident. He was like a precious little angel, so warm and full of bright, bubbly light.

I found it truly unfortunate that the most colorful person in the world had no idea what color looked like.

The end...
