There was a world full of white buildings surrounded by water. It looked that of a city, with a town square, apartments, shops, places of rest, gardens and everything in between. The sun shone brightly, reflecting against the white of the world that almost made it seem to glow. Surrounding the entire city was a vast ocean that seemed to go on forever. One could walk to the edge of the land and stare out and never find another land mast. A world of solitude, to put it lightly. Those who were born here were likely to never leave and there were never any visitors. One could even consider it a jailhouse.

At least, that's how it would have been. What once was probably a lively city now was a ghost town. There was not a single sound other then the water against the edge of the island and the wind blowing through the trees. It had been a long while since this world had seen any kind of life that the footprints were long but a memory. Even a boy with his friends, a strange looking duck and dog had disappeared, being a mere memory and that had been the most recent visitor.

Until now.

A man in a black cloak was walking down one of the empty streets, carrying a large black box behind him as his gold eyes stayed fixated on where he was going. He walked at a brisk pace, staring at a structure just a few meters away now. It was a structure that when standing on the proper bricks in the correct order it would trigger gears to move a mural that showed the past of how this world came to be, although the man knew the story for years. In fact, he was part of it and that thought brought a smirk to his thin lips.

He walked to this structure, stepping individually on the four hidden pedestals and watched the images change almost like a movie. Originally showing a world different then this one, it's fall to darkness and finally giving birth to this new world. A world called Scala Ed Calum.

Off to the side of the mural, unnoticed by the untrained eye the back structure opened up to a staircase. A staircase that spiraled down to an underground passage to where the cloaked man headed down now, placing the box on an old dusty desk with a huff of exhaustion, resting his hands on his hips as he stretched.

"Getting too old for this," he spoke to himself with a laugh as he looked over his shoulder at the secret lair. There wasn't too much to it, most of it covered in dust and darkness with a single source of light coming from above. There was the desk, a matching chair, some old viles and beakers and a single hallway with a chamber at the very end. At the top of this chamber was where the structure went above ground and at the base there were six what looked like sleeping pods. Each pod had a foggy glass over a dull white bed. Unfortunately they were not in perfect condition. Three of them had been shattered and whoever had once been in them were long gone as dust was starting to formulate again.

The man walked down this corridor and stood in front of one of the still occupied pods and hummed a bit. Perhaps it was time to finally get his plan into action, it had been far too long. He was tired of sitting in the distance, watching everyone else have fun. He looked over his shoulder at the box and nodded to himself, confirming the decision. Reaching forward to the old and dusty pin pad the man was grateful for his gloves he pressed a few buttons then waited with patience. He waited until there was a sound of an unlocked 'click' and the foggy glass lid slowly opened up revealing a girl inside.

Nothing moved at first and silence loomed between the man and the resting girl. It was kind of eerie and there was a brief thought that maybe he had waited too long to put his plan into action. After a few moments passed there was an involuntary sigh of relief as her eyes fluttered open. Regaining sleepy conscious; she blinked a few times as her purple eyes adjusted to the limited light and then looked around to get an understanding of her bearings. She stretched out her fingers against the bed, doing this a couple times until feeling returned to the muscles. She then pushed with her elbows to hoist herself forward a bit and cautiously she stepped out of the pod she had been sleeping in for so long. The heel of her boot hit the cement and her ankle shook a bit not used to the feeling. Her hands still against the bed she brought her other foot down and pulled away, staring down at her legs as they wobbled, ready to collapse at any moment. The bangs of her long light blue hair fell into her face and she carefully freed one hand gripping tightly onto the pod to brush it out of her face so she could see. However letting go had its consequence as she wobbled a little more and she fell to her hands and knees in front of the pod. Finally the girl's eyes had adjusted to the cobblestone floor and the black feet before her. She blinked a few more times for her eyes to really adjust then looked up at the figure.

"Master... Luxu?" she questioned in surprise. It had to be him, she knew no one else who wore a black cloak like that. "W-Where am I?" she asked a little nervously, looking around once more for any sign of familiarity but it was all in vain. This place didn't look familiar, or at least in her foggy memories at the moment they didn't.

"So you remember who I am," the man said, resting the palm of his hand against his cloaked forehead as if with relief.

"Why wouldn't I?" she raised a brow. The man she knew as one of the Masters, as were the foretellers that had started the five unions. He raised his hands and gripped onto the rim of the hood, finally throwing it back behind his head to reveal his appearance. His hair was much longer then she had remembered, and more grey as it was tied into a low long ponytail. His gold eye looked to her sadly then turned away.

"You are in a world that was once Daybreak Town," the Master answered.

"Once?" she asked. "What do you mean once?"

"It fell when the war happened. Surely you remember the war between the unions?"

"I-" the girl paused. She did remember. She remembered unions clashing against one another when they were all doing the same mission - collecting Lux to protect the worlds. But somehow one thing lead to another and they all turned against each other. There were some that were trying to stop it, like her friends. She gasped at the realization. "My friends! What happened to them Master?" She looked around in hopes to find them.

Luxu did not waste any time in answering.

"They're gone Riley."

Shock overcame the girl and she lowered her head to look at her empty hands as they rested in her lap. She couldn't believe what she had just heard. They were all killed? Was it during the war? She was alone? She brought her hands to her face unable to register anything as her vision was starting to blur from water. Riley closed her eyes tight, smacking her lips together to try and stop the tears from flooding out. Her heart was starting to feel heavy, as if it were too much to bear. It was true she didn't have many friends, and the few she did were from her union. Well, except for two boys. One was from Leopardus and the other she never learned his union she only knew it differed from her own. They were so nice, how could they all suffer the same fate except for her?

"But I think they might not be dead," Luxu continued and Riley snapped out of her distraught, looking up at him.

"What?" her voice was barely audible.

"I think they may be stuck in a world in between," he hummed a bit and looked back to the poor girl. "But getting there is quite a challenge. Very few people have done it."

"What is this world in between?" the blue haired asked as she shakily got to her feet. She had to get up, to keep going for the slight sliver of hope. Riley placed her hands down on the ground to help herself up. Although she wobbled at first, finally she was starting to get feeling again in her legs. Once steady, her attention went back to Luxu.

"It's almost like a second chance," The Master folded his arms across his chest. "I do not know how to get there unfortunately,"

"Oh." Riley tried to hide her disappointment, but her shoulders slumped none-the-less.

"But I was hoping you could help me and in turn it will help you find your friends," his single visible gold eye flickered to her. "You see. One of the people who have been to this world in between has gone missing. I, along with some others have been looking for him. Perhaps you could look as well?" Luxu rested his hand on his hip and searched her face to make sure she wasn't confused. She didn't seem to be, her face full of determination.

"Who are these other people?" Riley decided to ask but she was starting to feel like she should stop bombarding the Master with these questions.

"New keybearers, they do not know who I am so it's best to keep it a secret. Too much explaining that you'd have to go through," Luxu started heading down the hallway. "But if you bump into them, they could help you out."

Riley did a shaky run after to catch up with him.

"What's the name of this boy we're all looking for?" The final question she mentally promised herself. The Master smiled.

"Sora."
