A: „I'll take this door you go to the next one Gibson."

G: „Will do."

Andy tried to open the door but it wouldn't move. She got out some tools to make it easier but still the door wasn't moving even an inch. She kept trying for a while as asking jack for help because she apparently was too weak was not something she would just do. Her pride getting in the way of admitting she, a female firefighter, was too weak and needed a man to do something for her. But she was not getting that door open and she knew she had to ask him because someone could be behind that door needing their help.

A: "Gibson I need you over here."

Jack came running over.

G: "No ones behind that door I was checking. What's the problem here?"

A: "The door is not opening. I guess something is pulling it shut."

G: "I'll give it a try."

Jack pulled the door open after a few seconds of trying.

G: "And you needed me for that? Wasn't really hard Herrera but glad I could help. Let's sweep the room."

She rolled her eyes at him not sure if he could see it through the mask but she was able to see his grin which made her furious and a little fire of anger lit up right inside of her.

Andy couldn't understand why she wasn't able to open the door but after just a few seconds she snapped out of it. She was in a burning building after all and needed to do her job. So she put aside the fire burning inside her, there was a fire outside she had to take care of first. After about an hour the fire was out and the whole team excited the building. Getting rid of their bottles and helmets before they were gonna roll the hoses and get everything back in the truck.

Dean: "What was you two taking so long sweeping that floor?"

A: "We..." she had no idea what her excuse was gonna be but she didn't want to admit she wasn't strong enough to open a damn door. There was no reason for the whole team to know. But jack cut her off before she had a chance to come up with anything.

J: "Herrera couldn't open a door."

Vic: "Oh was something in the way?"

J: "No not at all. I opened it and it really wasn't hard."

Andy turned away from them, shoving tools back in their compartment. She was embarrassed to say the least and she was angry, at herself. Why wasn't she able to open a door that Jack opened so easily?

Vic: "Well maybe she already pulled it lose, so when you tried you didn't have to do much anymore." She was trying to defend her fellow female firefighter and friend.

J: "Yea sure!" He wasn't buying it.

Andy shoved the last tool in the compartment and shut it with a loud bang before she walked away from the team. She didn't really have anywhere to go so she just climbed in the back of the ladder. She just wanted a second without all the comments. She was already feeling bad enough. She had her elbows on her knees and buried her face in her hands when someone quietly opened the door. She didn't look up. Just assumed they were done and ready to go back to the station. But she felt eyes watching her so she slowly looked up and saw Travis who was supposed to be on engine and not on ladder.

T: "Are you okay?"

Andy sighed.

A: "Yes, all good Travis."

T: "You are not upset about the comments are you? You know the guys just like to joke around. They know how good of a firefighter you are."

A: "Travis, I'm all good. I'm not mad." She paused for a second, aware that she sounded angrier saying she wasn't mad than she intended to. "Are we ready to go yet?" She tried to distract.

T: "Uhm yes I think so."

A: "Great then get your ass out of here and on that engine." She put a little smile on her lips to convince him that this wasn't bugging her.

They got back to the station and Maya went to her office, the rest of the team went to take a shower to get rid of all the dirt that had assembled on them during the fire before heading to the beanery to prepare dinner. But as Andy hopped out of the ladder she froze still. She just wanted to be alone and with everyone in the locker room it felt as if the way to her bunk was closed of. The best idea that came to her mind was to just get back into the ladder truck. She laid down on the seats so no one would know she was in here. The call was bugging her and it wasn't the first time she had messed up. A few shifts ago a sledge fell out of her hands, she had said it just slipped out of her hand but her arms were shaking before as the sledge was so heavy. She knew that man just had it easier in this job but the last time she had asked a guy for help because something was to heavy was a long time ago. She always took pride in being strong, being able to lift heavy things and not needing a man to do it for her. Andy was caught in her thoughts of anger and frustration about herself and didn't notice how time was passing.

The smell of dinner made its way into Roberts office. He put aside the papers he was working on and decided to join the team, to spent some time with Andy before he was heading home. He hated the nights when Andy was on shift and he was alone in their bed, without her small body always finding his during the night and he even missed her rubbing her freezing cold feet against his bare legs.

He walked into the beanery where the team was placing the table and there was loud chatter. Robert just stood there searching the room for Andy but he couldn't find her. Without having said a word and nobody even noticing he was there he turned around and headed towards her bunk. But when he slowly opened the door assuming she was napping after the long call they had but all he found was an empty bunk with the sheets neatly on the bed letting him know she hadn't laid down yet. He walked out on the catwalk but she also wasn't on top of the engine. Running out of ideas as for where to look for her he went back to the beanery to ask the team.

R: "Where is Andy?"

Through the chatter no one but Maya stemmed to have heard him.

M: "I thought she was with you... I haven't seen her since we got back."

Vic who was standing next to Maya shifter her attention from the table to their conversation.

Vic: "Me neither, we all took a shower after the call but she wasn't there. I assumed she was with you... chief."

R: "Well no, she wasn't and I can't find her anywhere!"

M: "I'm sure she is around here somewhere."

Robert nodded and left again. He knew Andy was on ladder so he thought he would check if she was maybe doing something there. He walked around the ladder but nothing which confused him and a little worried started building inside of him now. He opened the door of the back of the ladder and then he saw her. Andy was laying on the seats sleeping. He chuckled while any little tension that has started to built was released in an instant and he quietly climbed in and shut the door behind him. He sat down on the floor in front of her. He stroke over her hair and she stirred slowly opening her eyes.

R: "I think your bunk or my couch would have been a little more comfy but the back of the ladder is an interesting choice as well."

She playfully hit him but smiled while he kept stroking over her head and shoulder.

R: "So... you wanna tell me why you are hiding here or...?"

A: "I wasn't hiding" she tried to be convincing.

R: "You were on a long call and instead of taking a shower and getting all this soot off you decided to nap in the truck" he raised his eyebrows and she understood that denying it was not gonna work.

A: "I ... I maybe was trying to avoid the team for a bit."

She stopped but he knew she wasn't done yet and would eventually tell him the full story, she just needed a second.

A: "At the call today I - I couldn't open a door and - Jack had to do it for me and you know - they were just - joking a little about it." She kept pausing looking for the words but then she broke lose, speaking so fast Robert had trouble keeping up.

A: " I'm not mad at them for making some jokes, I know that's just what they do but I'm so mad at myself. Why wasn't i able to open the damn door? It was just a stupid door. I know I am strong and I shouldn't need the help of a guy but I keep messing up."

R: "What do you mean, you keep messing up?"

A: "Uhm, a couple of days ago I dropped a sledge. Just a fucking normal sledge."

R: "We all do that sometimes Andy. Don't be so hard on yourself. You are strong and one hell of a firefighter."

A fade smile appeared on Andy's face, she still was upset but compliments from her husband were a good start to make her feel better.

R: "Yes! A smile is what I want to see. I mean I would make you feel better in some more ways but you are very dirty and you smell like a fire."

Andy punched him again, a little harder this time.

R: "Ouch, see, you've got plenty of strength in you. Let's get out of here."

They climbed out and Robert wanted to head to the stairs but Andy held him back and pulling him close. She got on her tip toes and with her hands she gently pulled his head down so she could kiss him. Robert picked her up and pressed her back against the engine while he was holding her up. They broke apart for some air.

R: "Maybe we shouldn't do that here." He put her down and they sneaked up the stairs holding hands making their way to the lockers. Andy was heading for her bunk but he stopped her and pulled her towards the shower.

R: "I'm sorry but You smell."

A: "We can't do it in the showers with everyone around! What if someone walks in?"

R: "They all already showered and eating! Nobody's gonna come in!"

A: "O-okey, that's a new side of my husband. Didn't know you liked that risk." She giggled while he pulled her inside the shower room with his body as his hands where already opening her buttoms. As soon as they were both in he shut the door behind him.
