Hey guys! So I decided that I'm going to start a SYOT! I've wanted to do one for a long time now and well, here is the result!
The form for submitting a tribute will be on my profile, so go check that out if you're interested!
Head Gamesmaker Venus paced through the lab in her high-heels. They drowned out any other sound. Especially the noises of the creatures in the lab. She hated the lab, every last bit of it. A few years ago, this place went out into the wild hunting for animals and even District scumbags. Most of these were used as mutts, but some as food or toys for the creatures.
The sight that Venus walked in on was a gruesome but common one. The scientists were prodding an avox towards a mer-vox who was glaring at its soon to be prey. Suddenly the creature pounced, its red eyes gleaming, a malicious look in its eyes. The helpless avox held its arms out to protect itself but they were torn out of its body by the creature. Soon enough, the avox was a turn up mess, lying on the ground.
Two holes in the floor opened and the dead avox and the mer-vox slid down them.
"So you're still not giving up on these?" Venus muttered in an unimpressed manner.
She was disgusted by this sight but knew that the blood thirsty crowds of the Capitol would want this in this year's arena.
"No, they will bring us money from the citizens. You know that" replied Dr. Tinstle - a tall and slim woman, with thick brown hair and a pair of goat horns implanted on her forehead.
Venus sighed and left. She had already asked this woman to not put the mer-voxes into the arena, without seeming scared of them, but there was no success.
She stomped into the elevator, her shoes clicking loudly on the floor. She pressed a button and it took her to the top floor of the building. This was the planning section for the Hunger Games.
The other Game Makers nodded to her as she came in. Granella - a previous Victor of District 9 who had asked to live in the Capitol - called her over.
"I've created these tulips in the lab," Granella said, nodding to a picture of a yellow flower.
"Carry on" Venus muttered.
"Their pollen will be poisonous, the only antidote is their leaves" she answered, not hearing the angered tone in Venus' voice.
"Sure, we'll place them around the cornucopia" Venus replied and walked off to her office, not caring about what else the woman had to say.
She closed the door and sat down on the spinning chair next to her desk.
"Hey sweetie" she murmured to the baby albino fox she had saved from the lab.
The fox made a sound of pleasure when it saw Venus and decided to sit on her knee.
Venus realised she needed this fox in her life when she saw it in a cage in the lab. She requested to keep it and the scientists only allowed her to take it if she would bring it back for breeding purposes every now and again. She hated to see the animals be tortured and she hated this job. Why had she signed up for this.
Venus turned on her computer and sent a message to the builders at the arena, attaching a photo of Granella's tulips to it. She explained where they were meant to go, and pressed send.
The reply came back in about 10 minutes. A photo of the forest was attached, the purple-leaved beeches swaying in the wind, the streams glistening in the sunlight, the azalea bushes spreading their flowers. It all seemed perfect but would be the end for some unfortunate kids..
I'm really sorry the prologue was so short but I didn't know what else to put. I hope you liked it!
