CHAPTER #1: DIAGON ALLEY

"Carly it's time to go!" Kingsley shouted at Carly as she groaned and rolled over in her bed stretching her arms above her head and falling out of her bed onto the floor. Grumbling Carly pulled herself to her feet "Carly five minutes" Kingsley shouted from the other room "Yes Kingsley I heard you the first time" Carly called back grabbing a T-shirt she probably stole from one of the Weasley boys, some jeans, and old red converse that she had drawn all over.

Now for the hair, she smiled standing in front of her mirror and glancing at her unruly blonde hair and blue eyes. "Narrowing her eyes at the mirror, her hair turned red and her eyes turned a stunning green. Breaking her concentration she grabbed her messenger bag and skipped to the door grinning. "Four minutes," she said, turning to Kingsley with a smirk in place as he rolled his eyes back at her, grabbed her wrist before turning and apparating without so much as a warning.

When they arrived at their destination Carly angrily pushed away from Kingsley, tripped on one of her shoelaces, and went sprawling straight into Fred and George Weasely knocking them onto the ground.

"My goodness child you've been here for what, five seconds?" Molly said staring down at her as she grinned up at Molly who rolled her eyes before going off in search of Ron. "Good luck with her Molly" Kingsley said, a small smile on his face before ruffling Carly's red hair and apparating away.

As Mrs. Weasley finally managed to get her children into the room she was flustered and grumbling "Red hair Carly, really!" she shouted "Just get in the fireplace" Molly grumbled throwing the floo powder into the flames shoving her children through before her.

Stepping into the fireplace Carly grabbed hold of Ron's hand and didn't let go until they stumbled out into Flourish and Blotts. They were soon followed out by the rest of the family and Molly was glaring at Carly "No red hair, that's the rule. I have enough red hair as it is" grumbling, Carly changed her hair to white while Molly was explaining the rules "school stuff first" Molly said pairing people up for their shopping trip.

"Charlie'' Carly whispered, bumping his shoulder "Charlie" she hissed ramming her shoulder into his side and knocking him into Percy who fell to the ground with a loud thud that drew the eyes of everyone in the bookshop. "What is going on here" Molly glared at Carly and Charlie with narrowed eyes "run, run, run, run!" Carly screamed, grabbing Charlie's hand and running out the door with a huge grin plastered on her face. They sprinted through Diagon Alley, feet pounding on the cobblestones until they reached Zonko's laughing.

They stocked up on pranking materials, quills, books, and a lot of other things that they didn't really need but still seemed cool. After wandering around Diagon Alley for a couple of hours they decided to go meet George, Lee, and Ron at the ice cream parlor. "I'm paying," Carly said grinning and walking up to the register. "I'll have chocolate, strawberry, pumpkin, white chocolate raspberry truffle, and…" she looked over at Lee to order since she didn't know his favorite ice cream flavor "Oh, uh, I'll have lime and bubble gum" Carly gave him a disgusted look and the guy at the register looked confused "Well you heard him," she said casting Lee an odd look.

After finishing there Ice cream Charlie took Ron with him to get Carly's wand. "Ollivanders" Ron read with awe, his fascination broken by Carly jumping onto Charlie's back with so much force that he nearly stumbled into the glass door. "Good dragon" Carly exclaimed, petting Charlie's dark red hair with a huge smile on her face. Ron just grumbled something about Charlie liking Carly more than his actual family which made Carly glare at him.

When they walked into the shop it was dimly lit and covered with a thick layer of dust that would have had the people in the Hog's Head turning their noses up.

The silence was stifling and Carly felt as though she would pass out, she hated it, the feeling that even something as necessary to her as breathing was disturbing everyone else. So when Ron went to ring the bell she cut him off and rang the bell louder than he would have before he had a chance.

"Ah Mr. Weasley, , I would ask you to step out so I can begin, `` he said with a faint smile hidden in the folds of his wrinkly face.

Nearly two hours later they were still trying wands when Mr. Ollivander started mumbling about something under his breath, he looked at Carly narrowing his wide pale eyes before disappearing into the back of his shop for nearly twenty minutes ``ah, I found it!" he exclaimed walking to the front of the store and casting an almost cautious look at Carly. "Try this one dear," he said, handing her another wand. As Carly took it she felt a sense of power and warmth surge through her body, she waved her arm and everything in the shop including Carly and Mr. Ollivander lifted a foot off the ground. As they slowly sunk back to the earth Ollivander cast her a look "Well that's the one" he said.

He put the wand into a navy blue box with tiny silver stars as Carly waited for him to tell her about her wand. "How much money is it?" Carly asked and he waved his hand dismissing her question. "That wand is Ash 12 ½" Phoenix tear and Thestral tail hair" Carly narrowed her eyes "Two cores?" she asked and he nodded at her. "Ms. Carter if I am to sell you this wand you have to understand that hybrid cores are extremely rare, I have only sold two other ones in my life. Now, this particular wand was made over 400 years ago." Carly nodded her head, white curls flinging back to hit her in the face. Ollivander walked back to the counter to get the wand, before turning and handing Carly the box. "This wand is a weapon Ms. Carter, the carrier is destined to be a warrior and to face death, this wand will bring power to any fight you use it in, I can only hope you choose the right side" He then quickly ushered her out the door with the final words of "choose carefully who you can trust." She tried to ask him something but he held a wrinkled finger to her lips "The wand chooses the wizard Miss Carter."

Carly walked out of the store to find Ron missing, but Charlie was waiting for her. "Can we go home now?" Carly asked, exhaustion lacing her voice "Sure" Charlie replied, grabbing Carly's hand and walking back towards the leaky cauldron. "Everyone else got all their school stuff so mum gave me some floo powder to take you home when you were done.

When they arrived at the Leaky Cauldron they used the fireplace to get straight back to the Burrow. That night they enjoyed a meal of homemade shepherd's pie and lemon cakes before Molly sent everyone to bed, not wanting them to be too tired on their first day.

Carly and Ginny got changed into their PJ's and climbed into bed. "Hey, Carly what type of wand did you get?" Ginny asked wide eyes peering down at her from above where the moonlight illuminated Ginny's face and Carly's snow-white curls. "It's Ash 12 ½" Phoenix feather core" Carly fibbed knowing that both of her actual cores were extremely rare; she chose the closest thing to phoenix tears she could think of. Ginny just nodded her head ruby hair illuminated against the black of night, Carly hated lying to the girl she thought of as a sister but Ollivanders warning was fresh in her mind.

That night Carly dreamed of a beautiful male Unicorn that must have been nearly 17 hands, in her dream she was standing barefoot in a forest clearing with flowers woven into her hair, the Unicorn had silver eyes and it was watching her until suddenly a cloud blocked out the moon and everything went dark. Carly was surrounded by a hissing noise, followed by a flash of green light that illuminated the scene enough that she could see the Unicorn fall to the ground with open silver eyes that were still staring at her.
