"There is still pizza left over from last night's dinner," said Laurel.
In the fridge, there was a plastic bag of pizza slices. The bag had the letter "B" on it.
"Ooh! B must be for breakfast!" Laurel said. "I will eat these slices now."
"Hi, Mom!" said Ian, entering the room.
Laurel rolled her eyes.
Of course, I can't eat without anyone interrupting me.
"What do you want?" she asked.
"I was just wondering what you'd do if Barley was bald," said Ian.
"I DON'T KNOW!" Laurel said.
"Okay," Ian said. "Bye."
"Good, he's gone," said Laurel. "Now, I can enjoy my pizza!"
Then, she ate the pizza.
Barley walked into the kitchen.
"Boy, oh, boy! I sure am hungry!" he said.
Barley looked into the fridge and then stomped away angrily.
"Hmm… I wonder why he's so upset," said Laurel.
Meanwhile, Ian really wanted to go to The Manticore's Tavern for some reason.
"Barley said that all quests begin at The Manticore's Tavern," he said to himself. "There's only one problem. I don't know how I'm gonna get there. I don't have a car, and Barley will BE suspicious if I ask him to take me."
Then, he had a genius idea.
"I know! I'll ask my mom!"
"NO!" Laurel. "Why the hecking heck would you want to go there?"
"To… begin… quest…" Ian whimpered.
"Is this about Barley wearing glasses again?" Laurel said.
"M-m-maybe?" Ian said.
"I already told you that he doesn't have glasses. Now, stop being silly."
I guess I'll have to ask Barley after all, Ian thought.
"Sorry, but no," said Barley. "I'm just about to go clothes shopping."
"Oh," Ian said. "Okay."
Later that day, Barley was back.
"I'm back!" he said.
"Did you buy any new clothes?" Laurel asked, hopefully.
"No," said Barley.
"Aw… why not?" Laurel asked.
"I couldn't find any that I liked," said Barley.
"Can you take me to The Manticore's Tavern now?" Ian begged.
"No," said Barley.
"Why not?" Ian asked,
"I'm all out of energy," said Barley. "I didn't eat breakfast or lunch today."
"Why not?" Ian asked.
Barley opened the fridge and closed it again. "Pizza are gone."
"PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!" Ian said.
"Just ignore him, Barley," said Laurel. "He's been asking me over and over again while you were gone."
"Hmmm…" said Barley. "What's in it for me?"
"Well, I overheard you saying that there was some cute girl who worked there," said Ian.
"Yeah, so?" Barley asked.
"If we go, there's a chance you might see her!" said Ian.
"Okay! Let's go!" said Barley.
Then, he spent the whole drive complaining about how hungry he was.
Corey arrived at the Lightfoot house and rang the doorbell.
"Oh! Hey, Corey! I wasn't expecting to see you today!" Laurel said. "What are you doing here, anyways? Don't you have a job or something?"
"Yeah, but I'm taking the day off!" Laurel said.
"Oh," said Laurel. "Okay."
"What's wrong?" Corey asked. "Aren't you happy to see me?"
"I am; I just wish you'd told me in advance that you were coming," said Laurel.
"I did, though!" Corey lied.
"No, you've just been texting me strings of random emojis all week," said Laurel.
"So… how are the boys? What are they up to?" Corey asked.
"They're good. They went… umm… somewhere," said Laurel. "I wonder what Colt is up to. I haven't seen him in a while."
"That's because I killed him," said Corey.
"WHAT?!" Laurel said.
"Just kidding!" said Corey. "Wanna hear something weird?"
"Uh… yeah?" said Laurel. "What is it?"
"I saw Barley come into my workplace last week!" Corey said.
"Ha! You're right!" Laurel said. "That is weird!"
"But that's not even the worst part!" said Corey. "He was also wearing glasses!"
"Barley doesn't wear glasses!" said Laurel. "You're lying!"
"NO! I'M NOT A LION!" Corey said.
Meanwhile, Ian had to go to the bathroom for some reason.
"I'm gonna go to the bathroom," Ian said.
"Okay," said Barley.
After Ian left, Barley put on a pair of glasses for some reason.
Ian came back and started screaming.
"What's wrong, bro?" Barley asked.
"YOU'RE WEARING GLASSES!" Ian shrieked.
"No, I'm not!" Barley said.
"What's that on your face, then?" Ian asked.
"Oh, it's… nothing!" Barley said, tossing the glasses away.
They landed on the floor and a centaur stepped on them.
Crunch!
"Well, then. I… uh… I'm just gonna go to the bathroom now," Barley said. Then, he got into his van and drove home.
Barley entered the house.
"There he is!" Laurel said. "See? No glasses!"
"Hmm… I guess I just imagined it…" said Corey.
"Barley, where is Ian?" Laurel asked. "You didn't leave him at…uh… the place you guys went to, did you?
