Hey guys, it's Vixal once again! This time however, with an actual story and not a one shot. This is PMD, so if you don't like stories like that then please don't read. Enjoy.

I don't own Pokemon, Nintendo does.

"Oh? You want to hear the story? Well, I guess you're old enough to understand now. It's just been so long since I've told anyone, so you'll have to forgive me for forgetting some things here and there. If only he was here to fill in the gaps….oh well, you'll just have to hear what I do remember. I suppose I can tell you now, as long as you promise not to tell your mother."

The beast stood on all four legs, staring at the retreating sun. Small creatures flitted about, avoiding the metallic monster that claimed the mountain as its own. None could stand up to its might and power, and pity befell those who challenged it, and the cave opening was otherwise empty. But the beast was at peace, watching the sun go down on another easy day of feasting and sleeping.

Suddenly, the peace and quiet was shattered like a pane of glass, an explosive force ripping throughout the cave the monster currently resided in. Blue light filled the cavern, and a small creature came tumbling from an unseen place. The beast, who was not nearly as affected by the explosion as the others in the cave, walked over to investigate, its front right leg nudging the small animal. The force of its foot pushed the inert figure onto its back, revealing the small creature to have a dull pink coat, with the little exposed skin it could see was a bright yellow. The thing cried out and jumped to its feet, stepping back from the behemoth in front of it.

The metallic monster had once seen something similar to the thing below it, although the color was much darker and the other creature had bigger, disc shaped ears. And it had been much, much louder than the thing now.

"What are you little one?" the Lairon asked the unfamiliar creature, tilting its head.

"I, uh, I…" it said to the beast, cowering in the presence of such a terrifying Pokemon. "What are you?" it asked the behemoth.

The beast laughed. "I am a Lairon, and the king of this place. Tell me your name, stranger."

"What's yours?" it challenged the beast. The brute was starting to get annoyed by the purple critter intruding upon his cave.

"I am called Ferrous, and you are avoiding my questions, strange creature."

The intruder's ears raised in alarm, and Ferrous slammed his front left foot into the ground.

"What are you? What is your name? Where do you come from?" he shouted, causing the oddly colored thing to cower in fear.

"I don't know!" it shouted at Ferrous, cringing under his gaze. "I don't know anything! Leave me alone!"

The beast hadn't been shouted at since before he evolved, and it almost unsettled him. Almost. He narrowed his dark blue eyes and snorted at the audacity of the shivering Pokemon beneath him.

"Hold your tongue little one, before I rip it out of your tiny mouth." the steel type threatened it. "I made no joke in saying that I am the king of this mountain, and one does not talk to a king like you just did. You have one more chance to explain yourself before I have an early supper." he snarled.

"I really don't know anything! I'm not sure who I am, or even what I am. And what is this place?" the creature asked the monarch.

The Lairon dug his head into the ground beneath him to scratch himself, and after shaking the dirt off, stared at the smaller 'mon in front of him a moment before responding. "A Pokemon with no knowledge of itself is not a proper one. Come little one, follow me to the Chamber of Remembrance. I will teach you as much as one such as myself can."

Without waiting on a response, Ferrous turned around and started walking away from the creature. "Wait! What does that mean, one such as yourself? Shouldn't a king know everything?"

He roared with laughter, causing the newcomer to cringe at the volume. "I have never left this place stranger, and neither have most of the inhabitants of this rock. However, there are few that leave and return, or are simply outsiders like yourself. They scrawl what they can into the walls of the Chamber of Remembrance, and the denizens of the mountain leave it be. When I became king, I started to go there almost every day. Now, I visit several times a day. This is a peaceful mountain, and we are isolated from the troubles of the world. When a merchant or explorer shows up, they often tell us stories of disease, famine, and war. We have none of that here, besides whatever petty squabbles the common mon have amongst themselves."

"How long have you been king? Has your family always ruled the mountain?" The outsider asked.

Another chuckle from the monarch. "We fight to rule here, small one. Three years ago, I defeated a Coalossal to become the king of this place. I have not been challenged since I took power, and there are few who would be able to even think of it here."

The amnesiac mulled over his statement while following the beast. They walked into a room full of glowing crystals, with marks all over the walls. It took a moment for the newcomer to realize the marks were actually pictures, and that they depicted scenes of battle and the mountain. There were pictures of Steelix, Coalossols, Golems, Bastiodons, Excadrills, and many more. He even saw a Tyranitar shooting a Flamethrower at a Gigalith. The Lairon led the smaller creature to a certain carving, and he quickly saw that it was the story of Ferrous defeating the previous king.

"What happens to the old kings when they're overthrown?"

"Sometimes they are left alive, and they leave the mountain." the monarch said.

"Sometimes?"

The steel type snorted and started towards the entrance.

"Wait! Did you kill the Coalossal?"

"Yes little one, I killed the old king. He was weak, and you cannot afford to be weak here. Perhaps one day I shall be killed too, but until then I rule this mountain. Do not look so mortified, it is not as bad as you may think. The only danger to me is death of old age, unless another Pokemon can gain as much power and skill as I. Or maybe you think you can take me on?" he said, baring his metallic teeth.

The pink creature took a step backwards, and the king exhaled heavily out his nose, doing his best not to laugh. "I was not being serious foreigner. Come, I will show you around some parts of the mountain."

"Wait!" the smaller 'mon called out to Ferrous. "What's this picture here?"

The depiction in question featured a quadruped, but was so faded that the newcomer had no clue what it was supposed to be. "Do not worry about that, it is an old legend. Much older than me, or any other living here. The only part of it I remember is that something dwells in the mountain stronger than any mortal being, but if it existed I would have seen it already. I have been around the entire mountain, and there is nothing that could live here with that kind of strength. Although…" the monarch trailed off.

"What? What is it?"

"Nothing. Perhaps I misremember the story. After all, it has been years since I last heard it. Let us leave this place so that you might see the remainder of my claim."

The duo made their way out of the room, and into the wide cavern they were in before. A rock lay in the spot where the Lairon had stood earlier during their meeting, and the metallic monster chuckled.

"Come, show me your ability. Attack that rock little one."

This did not seem to be unreasonable to the pink Pokemon, so he strode up to the stone and punched it with his short arm. He recoiled when the rock bounced up to reveal two arms and a face, falling onto his back as he struggled to flee.

The king laughed at the newcomer and shook his head. "Never seen a Geodude little one? They are quite common around the mountain. Go ahead, battle it. Perhaps you will even win."

"I don't know how to battle!" he yelled while rolling to avoid the rock slamming its fist on the ground where he fell.

"You will soon find out how, or perish trying."

The smaller 'mon cried out as the Geodude struck him on the side, and rolled back onto his feet. Following instinct, he hit the stone with his left ear, making a surprisingly loud smack and a grunt from his opponent. The ground type threw a right hook and the foreigner blocked it with his ear before smacking the Geodude once again, and then twice more to knock it back. The Rock Pokemon rolled face up, its eyes closed and arms limp.

The monarch blew air out of his nose and walked over. "Good job little one, that was most impressive. It was only a mere Geodude, but you beat it skillfully and in only a few moves. Perhaps you deserve to be named by me."

"You think so?" he looked up at the steel type.

"Yes, I certainly do. Quintus seems fitting after you defeated it with only five moves."

The newly named Quintus beamed at the king and moved forward to hug his leg. "Do not get ahead of yourself little one, I am still the ruler of this mountain." the Iron Armor Pokemon said, shaking off the creature attached to him. "That being said, I am willing to teach you some things. Come, let me show you how a true battler fights.

And that's all folks. I am going to be updating once a month, and the chapters may or may not be bigger than this depending on how well I can balance work with writing. Tell me what you think in the reviews or my DMs.

I am also still taking suggestions for stories and/or one shots.
