Prologue: Meet Chad
The day was beautiful, with Butterfree, and Combee flying about cheerfully. The calm chatter of the wild pokemon added to the relaxing peacefulness of the wild. This is the only way Chad could dream of living. Chad was a 17 year old pokemon trainer who had made quite a name for himself in the Slater region. The youngest pokemon trainer to become a Gym leader in his entire region. His eyes were an astonishing green, but when he turned his head to the right angle, they glinted gold. Every single male in his family shared this trait; however Chad was a black sheep amongst them. As he was the only male with blonde hair. Chad spent alot of his time out here in the woods. Enjoying the sounds of the BUG-type pokemon, his favorite of the types by far. He was able to relax in the woods, to lay down and read of other regions. One day he'd get to go to another region, he just knew it.
Today was the brightest day it had been in while, and it added a certain cheery tone to the air. The kind that made Chad want to catch a new 'Mon. He heard that a rare species of pokemon known as Nincada had been spotted in these woods.
'What a sweet addition that would be to the team,' he thought to himself.
Chad sat up and stretched; he began to look at his surroundings, noticing how bright the violets seemed to look today. Standing up he continued to admire nature, the lively dark green leaves of the oak trees surrounding him, the sky as clear as a glass. He threw his pokeball satchel over his back; reaching into it he grabbed the topmost pokeball.
As he pulled out the pokeball it gave a little wiggle, "Lucille, I'd let you out, but we both know how much you hate Combee."
Chad said as he gave a little chuckle. He was talking to his prize Volcarona, she had won so many battles for him. He gave the ball a little kiss and returned it to the satchel. Closing the satchel Chad ran his fingers over the golden buckle, in the center the letters 'CN' were engraved. The satchel had been a gift from his eldest brother a couple of years back. Chad turned around and headed back to the trail he came from.
As Chad strolled deeper into the forest, he began to feel more and more at home. The leaves rustling in the wind, like music to his ears. This is where he belonged; Chad just didn't understand people the way he did nature. The trail began to get more wild, and uncut bushes began to tug at Chads trouser. The groups of pokemon were significantly increasing in size. He began scanning the crowds of pokemon, yet he still couldn't seem to find a Nincada. Chad was determined, he would find a Nincada today, he could feel it in his bones. Like Arceus answering his prayers, Chad caught a glimpse of a white blur, scuttling deeper into the brush.
"Yes!" he yelled excitedly, running in the same direction of the Nincada.
He leapt through the bushes with joy in his eyes, scanning for the Nincada.
'This is just what I need,' Chad thought to himself, 'If I can catch a Nincada, I'll be one step closer to be the Champion of Slater.'
Catching it would be amazing, but evolving it- He shuddered, that pokemon was creepy, but worth it. Catching a Glimpse of the Nincada again, Chad decided to push his luck. He grabbed a pokeball of his satchel and launched it in the Nincada's general direction. Beep Chad loved the odd sound pokeballs made when they landed on a 'Mon. Hearing the final click, he began to walk towards the newly captured Nincada.
"Thanks for the new 'Mon." said a voice from behind Chad.
He jumped forward about 2 feet and turned around, facing the direction he heard the mysterious voice come from. "W-who was that?" Chad asked slowly reaching for his satchel.
A figure began to emerge from the trees, he was a sickly looking young man, with bags under his eyes. He had jet black hair, and odd stormy gray irises. His eyes had a strange cold gleam in them, and it made Chad really nervous.
"Hm... so youthful, and happy..." the stranger muttered.
Chad turned to bolt for it, but the man was by his side at a frightening speed.
"Now don't take this personally," The man said.
Chad tried to scream, but as the knife was plunged into his right lung, he felt himself coughing and gasping for air instead.
"I'm truly sorry, but you were just a convenient piece to a very large puzzle." Chad could feel the life leaving his body, his hand gripped around his prized volcarona, silently apologizing.
