A/N: I do not own any of the characters from Gundam seed.

In this story, I will be portraying mermaids a bit more viciously than little mermaid types. This story has inspiration from H2O and Mako Mermaids as well. I don't own any rights to their content either.

A young man rushed into a cozy little house off the coast near Gold Coast, where not a soul knew about. Isolated from any prying eyes of the regular beach traffic, even during the tourist season. His shoulder-length, midnight blue hair whipped behind him. His glorious rich emerald eyes locked with a woman of equal age, busy playing with her two children, one age five girl and her little two year old brother.

The urgency of his intrusion was received the moment he locked his eyes with her amber ones. "She knows. She will be here soon. We must leave this place, before it is too late."

The young woman gathered her children. "Athrun, I must get the trident as far away from here. We need to split up. You should take Chase with you. I will take Lizzy and the trident to our next hiding out."

"Make sure she hasn't sent any fish to follow you. If she gets it…"

"I know what is at stake. I'll be careful." She hugged her husband and gave him a quick kiss of reassurement, before sweeping away her daughter with the trident in hand.

The door swung open, halting the operation, revealing a beautiful young woman in her teens. Her hair reached to her lower waist and her deep fuschia eyes were a dead give away. She found them. "Not this time."

"Ocynie…" Athrun stepped in front of his family protectively.

"Athrun, when are you going to realize this is a mermaid game?" Ocynie toyed.

"If you gave the land people a chance, you would understand why that wouldn't matter to me." Athrun glared strongly.

"Mermaids belong in the ocean, don't they, Cagalli?" Ocynie continued to taunt them.

"Then why do you keep coming on land?" Cagalli clutched the trident.

"I have a thief in my midst. Give over the power of the oceans and you will never have to see me again."

Athrun gritted his teeth. "Never. I have seen what your kind do with raw power. I will never let it happen again."

"I had nothing to do with that." Ocynie revealed her indifference in her expression. "I wish I could have seen it. I suppose I will just settle for reading about it." Ocynie showed a glimpse of a little book hiding in her jacket pocket.

Athrun would have lost it if Cagalli hadn't pulled him back from his emotions. She placed her hand on his shoulder. "No, don't. She is just trying to get in your head."

He whispered back, "Well, it's working…"

Cagalli clued in. "Wait, that's my-"

"Your journal." She finished for her and pulled out the journal. "I feel like I know you. If you didn't want me to read it, you shouldn't have left it back at your villa." She put it back safely in her pocket.

"Mommy?" Lizzy cried. "I'm scar-red."

Cagalli comforted her daughter and whispered. "We'll be alright. Take your brother through the back door and hide where I told you to."

Lizzy took her brother's hand and pulled him away quietly. Her brother cried for his mom, but Lizzy insisted.

"It's best that the children don't see what happens next." Ocynie smiled mischievously, fully aware of the two children 'sneaking off'.

"Are you forgetting that I am a mermaid too?" Cagalli growled. "And I have the trident."

"But…" Ocynie drew closer to the couple. "Only I know how to use it." She moved quickly and drove a recently hidden dagger into Athrun's chest.

The combination of surprise and pain forced Athrun backwards into the wall, after Cagalli stepped out of the way by reflex.

"Athrun!" Cagalli panicked as she watched helplessly as Ocynie forced the dagger in further.

Athrun pushed with everything he had, the blood was leaving his body like a stream and the energy left with it.

Cagalli ran over and tackled Ocynie to the ground, after dropping the trident.

Athrun tried to summon what strength he had left to take the trident, but he lost it and collapsed on his side. His eyes were growing cold.

Ocynie had hit a major organ, his time was running out.

Athrun looked up to see a little girl crying over him, with lavender locks brushing his cheek. She must have returned with worry for her parents. She was always so brave for a small child.

Athrun reached over and slid the trident towards Lizzy. "Take th-is and r-un… Squi-"

Lizzy latched onto the trident in tears. "O-kay…"

Suddenly the trident's royal gem glowed brightly, then the trident glowed so brightly it actually forced the two women to stop what they were doing and shield their eyes.

The glow shifted through the handle and forced its way into Lizzy. Lizzy glowed for a few moments as the trident dematerialized. The flow of energy filled the girl and her lovely emerald eyes transformed into a rich gold. The glow stopped and she returned to look mostly normal, besides the new eye color.

"Lizzy!" Cagalli panicked and rushed to her daughter, before getting tripped by Ocynie. She planted on the thick wooden floor. She looked up just in time to see the life leave Athrun. Tears of rage, grief and horror filled her eyes. "LIZZY! RUN!"

Lizzy looked around at her parents, one lifeless and the other in a horrible panic. She did what she was told, with fear filling her eyes. "Dadddddyyyyy…." She cried as she ran towards the back door and pushed it open, making a break for the shore. Every step on the shakey rocks made it more difficult to keep going.

Ocynie charged after the girl, but Cagalli slowed her down, wrapping her arms around Ocynie's legs.

Lizzy hurried through the rock bed. One rock slipped and she nearly twisted her ankle, dropping to her knees on the rock in front of it. Thankfully it was smooth and gave nothing more than a small bruise.

Ocynie re-engaged in her pursuit, with Cagalli struggling behind her to keep up.

Ocynie stopped for a moment as the girl turned to her in tears.

"Why can't you leave mommy and daddy alone?" Lizzy cried desperately.

Cagalli stopped to see what Ocynie was going to do next.

"I only want what was taken from us." Ocynie changed her tactics for a child. "Do you want your daddy back?"

"Yes…" Lizzy cried.

Ocynie reached out towards Lizzy, seeing as she was accepting some hope.

"No! Lizzy! Don't listen to her!" Cagalli objected as she continued to pursue her nemesis.

Ocynie knelt down and took Lizzy's hand gently. "All you need to do is think about traveling back in time. Before this ever happened."

"I don't know when mommyy took your fork…" Lizzy whined.

"That's okay. I do." Ocynie whispered in Lizzy's ear.

Lizzy nodded.

"Focus on what you want." Ocynie held her arm close.

Cagalli nearly got to them, before a rock slid into another one and twisted her ankle. "Lizzy! No!"

Lizzy's eyes glowed brightly and then the two girls vanished from Cagalli's sight.

Cagalli fell onto her side and cried harder. "Why couldn't you just listen to mommy…?"

After a few moments of accepting what happened, she returned to Athrun in the cabin. She checked his pulse to confirm her fears. Tears came down like waterfalls. "I'm sorry… Athrun… everything that happened to you… to Lizzy… it's all my fault. If I wwas normal… maybe none of this would have happened…"

She placed a kiss on his lips and then leaned her head into his. BL onde strands of hair mixing with midnight blue.

"I failed you… and this world…"
