I would've never thought that I would be able to just walk straight into UA, especially without taking an entry test. I can still remember the day when UA sent me a letter in the mail, and my father almost tripped over himself reading it aloud to me.
"Dear Mr. Stone,
I am Nezu, Principal of UA, and I have written this letter to inform you about the pending opportunity your daughter has. After doing some throughout research the teachers have decided that your daughter's quirks are powerful enough to have her emitted to the school without taking the usual entry tests. This is all up to your family to decide but we would all love to see you join class 1-A."
I was confused, not many people knew of my existence and even less knew about my quirks. My father was of course over the moon with this new found information and asked me bluntly, "Honey, would you like to join this school? They turn people into heroes, just like the ones we see on TV!" I was going to say no, how could someone like me become a hero? I'm a nobody. A home-schooled, adopted kid. But the ear-to-ear smile that was on his tired face was enough to change my mind.
"Fine...I'll join the school Dad." My father then proceeds to bear hug me and effortlessly take away my regrets about agreeing to this.
Que to me now, seven days later, walking into this huge building. I was pretty nervous.
I decided to keep my hair long and flat so that it would cover most of my face...including my right side. That side of my face is also covered with a mask, but I don't want too many people asking questions about it. I've been told that the half-cut black mask is intimidating to some people, I wouldn't want to scare my fellow classmates. I'm glad that my second quirk can be hidden so well. Sadly, It was the beginning of the year so the students will most likely be weirded out by me. They have also most likely been informed of there being a new student, how fun.
I made my way to a room full of pro-hero's, just like my father had instructed me to do. "Take two rights, up the first flight of stairs and enter the room with the biggest door" is what my father said before practically shoving me out of the house. I was taken aback by the many hero's I was looking at, but the most interesting person there is my new teacher, Mr. Aizawa. Mr. Aizawa's eyes seemed tired and endless. Either way, my new arrival had the entire room staring at me.
"H-Hello, I'm the new student, Raven Stone. I'm supposed to be in class 1-A..." Mr. Aizawa got up from the corner of the room to walk up to me. I knew exactly who he was due to me being a huge fan girl of him.
"Follow me" Mr. Aizawa said in a deadpan tone of voice. I hung onto his every word. He immediately started waking down the hallway. I quickly followed him to what looks like the (second) biggest door I've ever seen in my entire life.
Once we arrived he said, "Good luck" before shoving me into this room of strangers. I'm thankful for my long black hair covering my nervous face. Mr. Aizawa walks right past me and to the front of the class. I looked across the room and made eye contact with the boy they call, Bakugo. His spiky blond hair seemed to go along with his impressive quirk. I had seen him on TV and in the news this one time. My eyes then fell onto a green haired boy who was staring at me. Not in a weird way but, he looked like he was trying to figure something out. Most likely my quirk. He looked away as soon as I made eye contact with him.
As Mr. Aizawa was explaining my situation, my eyes traveled to the back of the classroom to a red and white haired boy. I've seen people on TV calling him Todoroki, Shoto. I quickly remember him from all of the News reports and Hero Shows I've seen. He is Endeavor's son. He apparently has two quirks just like me. Fire and ice, the perfect match to make a great hero.
"Raven, would you like to introduce yourself?" I nodded my head as I stepped in front of the class.
"I'm Raven, I'm originally from America but was brought to Japan when I was six. I hope that we can all be good friends..." my eyes suddenly locked down on what seems to be a drooling infant staring back at me... or my chest. "Mr. Aizawa, I understand that people with strong quirks are brought here, but what is that...staring at my chest?" The room erupted with laughter as "that" turned red. "I'm a hero in training!" he whispered. He seemed hurt by what I said. I didn't mean to hurt his feelings, he just looked really...creepy.
"Raven, that is Mineta. He tends to zone out when women are talking" A pink haired student yells from the back of the class. More laughter followed before Mr. Aziawa silenced the class with a wave of his hand.
"You all need to make her feel at home, this is a huge change for her since she's never been to a school like this before. Mineta, don't do anything" and with that Mr. Aizawa stepped back into a yellow sleeping bag and closes the zipper. The only empty seat is right next to the green haired boy who was staring at me. I, of course try to go to it and am instead jumped at by the tons of students! They all had so many questions and we're all so loud.
"What's your quirk?"
"When's your birthday?"
"How did you get here?"
"Hey you know Candace?"
"Denki shut up"
I covered my ears in an attempt to block out the sound and it worked for a little while. I stay on the floor with my knees to my chest to make it easier for me to drown out the sounds. The room slowly quieted down as they could see my discomfort. I closed my eyes as I wished for it to become silent. Suddenly, a finger taps my shoulder and I look up to see Todoroki standing in front of me.
"What is your quirk?" He asked me softly. I didn't know how to respond. All throughout my life I had to keep my quirks hidden from people but here, this is the place for me to let my quirks be free. Well, I could only admit to one of them. If they found out about the second one then...
I snapped out of my train of thought when Todoroki cleared his throat. Bakugo, who has been sitting alone piped up and said "oi, what's taking you so long?". I quickly uncovered my ears and decided that instead of telling them, I could show them. I'm not great at speaking, and explaining how I can move things without touching them is...difficult. I stood up and made my way to the small boy that I had insulted earlier and stood in front of his desk.
"Hey I'm sorry about insulting you. Can I show the class my quirk by using you?" I asked, half expecting him to say no.
"S-sure" and with that I activated my quirk and started to lift him up into the air. My eyes turn a light purple and my pupils disappeared as I brung him across the room to everyone else, without touching him. He floated there with a huge grin on his face.
"Mineta right? Tell me if you feel like your organs are rearranging" I say before slowly bringing him down.
"So, telekinesis?" Shoto said to me. He didn't seem bothered by it at all.
"Yeah, I can move smaller abject objects, sometimes larger objects, but humans are usually tricky. If I don't do it correctly I could end up rearranging your organs or stopping your heart or something. That's why I uh decided to use Mineta as an example, he was the perfect size." I smiled down at him.
I was in no means tall, but this guy was short, which almost made him look ridiculously cute. I noticed the green haired boy writing something down in his notebook and glancing at me. In a second I had his notebook in my hands and I'm reading what he wrote about me.
"Are you...collecting information about me?" I didn't mean to sound angry or threatening in any way but the boy started to sweat. He shifted his weight while siting in his chair before sputtering out, "I like to write down and understand the quirks of others! That way I can learn and improve my understanding of them. I don't mean to be creepy or scary! I just wanted to remember this information...your quirk is really cool though!" The broccoli haired boy just talked faster and faster until I stopped him mid way.
"What's your name?"
"My name? It's Deku!" He says cheerily. Bakugo scoffs in the back of the room at this. I turn around to address it when I come face-to-face with a tall, blue haired boy...or man. He looked really mature with his glasses and was at least 5'9.
"I'm Iida, the class Representative. I'm sorry about everyone. We're all just happy to see you—" Iida is cut off by Bakugo yelling as he got out of his seat.
"Don't include me with you brats, why would I be happy to see another damn extra join our class. Hell, she didn't even need to take the test! She just walked right in!" He was now right in front of me.
"Bakugo stop, you'll scare her" Iida tried to say. I stupidly retorted with "In all honesty, considering how left out you are you seem more like a extra then I do" Bad idea. I couldn't help myself, his ego seemed to be the size of planets. This obviously enraged Bakugo, I can see smoke coming from his hands.
"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU JUST SAY?!" He yells while getting closer. I really didn't want to do it but he was getting too close. I put a hand to his chest and used my quirk to send him flying to the other side of the room. He then crashed into the wall and then slid onto the floor.
I don't usually use my quirk on humans but his breath was just so bad. Also, him being so close made me uncomfortable. He had at least 3 inches on me and was very fit. He looked tired up close though, under all that anger I could see dark circles under his eyes. He looked stressed. I subconsciously stepped to the side, effectively blocking his path towards me with the students. He seemed too distracted to notice though.
Suddenly without a sound, he was standing behind us all. I notice him first while everyone else is staring at Bakugo who's throwing a multitude of cusses at me. "Class is over, it's time for lunch" Mr. Aizawa announced. Half of the student's jumped at his voice. All of the students made their way outside of the classroom while I stayed back to eat my lunch quietly.
-A couple hours later-
At the end of the day I went to leave the campus when Mr. Aizawa stopped me.
"Your father thought that it would be better to keep you on campus, that way no one would see you walking to and from school" he explains this as if it's the most normal thing in the world.
"He already brought over your belongings and a room has been made for you." Mr. Aizawa waits for my response.
I'm mad of course! My father didn't tell me about how he wanted me to stay at the school, he didn't even give me a proper goodbye. He probably knew that I wouldn't have gone to the school if it meant leaving him.
Curse him for being so smart. I know that I need to hide my identity from others, and that's why my father adopted me and changed my name. It still hurts that I have to be so far away from him. I hid my shock (and sadness) as I simply nodded my head and follow Mr. Aizawa back into the school.
