Third Person POV:

"She. Is. A. Kid!" Mack yelled as he slammed the file down onto Coulson's desk.

Simmons, Skye, and Trip stood behind him, having already read the file.

May and Bobbi stood either side of Coulson, since they had (eventually) agreed with him.

"Yeah, I vote against it as well" Trip added in, and Simmons nodded in agreement with the Specialist.

"I trust Coulson." Skye decided to side with the director "If he thinks that she can help, then she can help."

That made it a tie. Coulson was going to stay impartial as the director/person who suggested this.

"Umm…. Can I…. I Look at the… File" Fitz was stood in the doorway, and he walked over to the desk. "Yeah, you can be our deciding vote." Coulson handed him the file, and Fitz opened it.

"Well?" Everyone was waiting for Fitz to decide, but Bobbi was getting a bit impatient "I think that, if Coulson… trusts her, we should all try… umm… try to help her… maybe we could be her… family"

Coulson smirked: he was going to recruit her whether the team voted for or against, but the result being the former made things so much easier.

"Okay, she's currently residing in an abandoned factory by the beach on the outskirts of New York. To the bus!"

-Timeskip officially sponsored by Bus Airlines-

They entered the factory, most hands on icers- much to Coulson's protests. The team consisted of Simmons, Fitz, Skye, Mack, Bobbi, Trip, Coulson and May. There was a loud smashing noise, then a stream of curses. Coulson pushed past the rest of the group and walked towards a closed door- which led to the source of the noise.

He opened it slowly and ended up being punched in the face. The culprit- who was wearing a hoodie that covered their face- realised that the team was there, and ran. They got past everyone, making a dash for the exit. But they failed to see the Cavalry.

May put a hand on the kid's shoulder, and pushed them against a wall.

Your POV: (for rest of book unless said otherwise)

May shoved me against a wall, pinning my arms to my sides. I grunted in pain, and tried to push her away. "Fuck off! I ain't doin shit for ya. I'm done, ya hear me. Done with that shit. Done with SHIELD" Some of the other agents looked surprised at my language (and my poor grammar)- but I didn't care. I saw one of the agents walk away out of the corner of my eye- I recognised him as Leopold Fitz.

Coulson had a tissue out, and he was dabbing his nose. I had drawn blood. Serves him right for scaring me- and for dying. May went to pull down my hood, but I got one of my arms free and stopped her. "Kid," She sighed and, pushing my arm to my side, tried again. I wasn't strong enough to stop her, and the hood came off.

One of the agents gasped. I knew why, I look a mess. I had fought off 2 teams of hydra agents yesterday, and they had left their mark. May looked at me concerned, and I tried once again to push her away. "What happened?"

I blanked her, and Fitz called from the other room "Uhhh… What were you doing in here?" Damn. That was my secret stash. Morphine, food, other chemicals for experiments. I was in the middle of diffusing sea water to drink when I had dropped a beaker, then Coulson opened the door. "Uhhh…. I was… eating?" That was a shit lie, and I got a knowing look from everyone.

I was marched into the room, May's hand on my shoulder. God, de ja vu much, reminds me of the old days.

"What is this?" One of the lady agents (she had brown hair) asked, gesturing to my set-up. I ignored her; I had a good idea for a sarcastic comment "Answer her." Coulson demanded, and I pouted "I'm not allowed to talk to strangers." I stifled a giggle at their dumbfound expressions.

"Okay, this is Bobbi, Mack, Skye (*that's who asked the question*), Trip, and I'm sure you already recognise Fitzsimmons." Coulson pointed at each agent in turn. "Diffusion. Drinking water is expensive, so I grabbed some from the ocean and am diffusing it using a slightly more advanced set-up I learnt from a Sci-tech textbook." I explained. I think I saw a smirk of Coulson's face, but I don't know why.

Skye had a confused look on her face "Uhhh… High school drop-out- who doesn't have a weird obsession with science- over here." I rolled my eyes, and shook May off my shoulder. I walked over to my set-up, and turned on the bunsen burner. I set it to a boiling flame and explained,

"The simple explanation is that the flame heats the sea water in the beaker above it, causing the water to evaporate. When the sea water evaporates, it leaves the salt behind, and becomes water vapour." Skye nodded in understanding, and I continued

"The water-vapour moves up this tube," I moved my hand along the tube, showing the way the vapour was travelling "And the ice surrounding it condenses it back to water. The pure water falls into the other beaker, better for me to drink. That's the simple version anyway."

May had the same look on her face that Coulson did. I was confused "Anyway, why are you here? I mean personally, you could have sent a couple of agents to pick me up. Why have I been graced with the presence of the Cavalry and her nerdy sidekick." May winced at the nickname, I wonder why?

"We were close, weren't we?" Coulson questioned, ignoring my insult "Ha! No way you and May are here to reminisce about when you were my SO's. You were late to my graduation!" I laughed at his poor attempt at a white lie.

"We got there in the end!" Coulson protested, and I sighed in response. He really wasn't getting the point.

"We want you on our team, and don't pretend that you wouldn't have literally destroyed any other agents we sent. Come on, plane's outside" May walked out the moment she finished speaking, and everyone else followed. Except Coulson. "She'll kill me if I leave you." He laughed and gestured to the door.

I dramatically sighed and walked in front of him. We left the factory and entered a plane. Skye spoke to Coulson "May's on the stick. Simmons wants the kid for a med-check." She then started talking to Coulson about other stuff, that I didn't care about- mostly because it didn't involve me.

I walked off, heading to the cockpit. I arrived before Coulson knew I was gone. I sat down in the co-pilot seat, next to May. She turned her head "Aren't you supposed to be with Simmons?" "Aren't you supposed to be with Coulson?" I smirked, I have shipped them since May was chosen as my 2rd SO (from Operations), after Coulson (from Comms).

May chuckled "We are friends. Get that into your childish, meddling, brain. Just good friends."

With that, Coulson walked in "Hey, have you seen Y…"

"Sup man. I'm gonna accept your offer, even if it is just to see you two get together." I told him, and he sighed

"Friends. Just good friends. It never did and never will happen"

We touched down about 30 mins later, and I was ready to return to the agent lifestyle.
