A/N: So I haven't wrote in a long time, but the storyline going on GH is getting me in the feels. So I had to write this story. I hope you all enjoy. I apologize for the teen angst feels, but this was the first thing that popped into my head.

Chapter 1: Joss's Heartbreak

Joss was sitting at home, late that evening studying for the SAT's by herself. Trina had offered to stay and help her study, but after there run in with Cam and Dev, it was best to just take a breather from each other. There was some drama going on, but that happens with friends. They are a little upset with Dev, but she knew eventually they would forgive each other. Things happen, fights happen but she had gotten close with Dev and was starting to feel bad about how she treated him. Joss had turned off her phone off for a bit to study.

Sonny and Carly come back from the hospital with solemn looks on their face. Joss was still studying, but she had looked up to see them, but could tell something was wrong. She didn't want to stop in the middle of what she was studying so she continued for a minute until Carly walks over to her and gives her a hug.

"Joss, we need to talk. It's important sweetheart." Carly said.

"Actually mom, I needed to talk to you as well. Thanksgiving is coming up, and I think it is important that we are all together. Especially since, Oscar and Pap Mike died. I think we need to be together as a family. It is super important, because well life doesn't take a vacation, life is short, and people die. Mom, we need to be together because there are no guarantees. We can even invite Jason, everyone who is important to this family, especially Brando and Dev." Joss said, in one big breath.

"Joss, honey, that's kind of what we needed to talk to you about." Carly said, sighing as Sonny rubs his hand down his face, and shakes his head.

"Joss, I think you need to sit down. "Sonny said, solemnly, "We have something important to tell you, and unfortunately, it can't wait. And it'll effect having the family together for thanksgiving, just a little."

Joss sits down and looks at Uncle Sonny. Usually Sonny doesn't step into action with her like that when it comes to conversation, but she can tell something was really bothering him so she sits down and looks at him, knowing something is clearly wrong.

"Uncle Sonny, what is it?" Joss asked, concerned.

"You haven't heard?" Carly asks

"Heard what, Mom? What-would someone like to tell me what is going on?!" she asks, concerned, but slightly irritated.

"Joss, there was an explosion at The Floating Rib." Sonny starts

"Oh my god! Cameron and Dev where going to the Floating Rib, are they okay?" she asks, concerned, "I'll go get my coat, then we can go to the hospital to see them. I'll hurry." Joss says in a panic, as she goes to get up, Carly grabs her hand and pulls her back down.

"Joss, you need to hear what Sonny has to say. Sit down," Carly says, sternly.

Joss looks at both Sonny and Carly and sees how solemn they both look, especially Uncle Sonny. She looks at him and takes his hand, "Uncle Sonny, what is it? What happened?"

Sonny takes her hand sympathetically, "Joss, I'm sorry, but Dev, Dev didn't make it. He died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. He thanked me for giving him a family. He loved us and was so happy to be apart of this family. His very last words to me though, was to tell Joss I'm sorry." Sonny choked out the last part, "Joss, he's gone. Dev is gone." Sonny sighs as the tears slipped down his face.

"What? That's impossible. He was just here, like two hours ago. We were on the deck, and he had asked Trina and I if he could join in and study with us for the SAT's. Of course, he had said some stuff the other day about Cam and we were, we were fighting and told him to go away, but we-we didn't want this. He must be ok. He has to be." She said, unable to believe it, "Mom, Uncle Sonny, he was just here."

Sonny has tears in his eyes, "I'm sorry, Joss. I wish we were lying, but we just got back from the hospital to tell Brando. He's gone, Joss. I'm sorry. But he's gone."

Joss in shock, doesn't say anything about Dev, but sits there in silence a minute.

Carly wraps her arms around her little girl and gives her a hug. Joss just sits there hugging back and takes Sonny's hand tighter and squeezes his hand. She doesn't move from in between them for what seems like forever, then looks up.

"Is, what about Cam? He was he was with Dev. How's Cam?" Joss asked, concern in her voice as she starts to finally cry, "They were together, and Mom its partly my fault! I told Dev to go away, because I was mad at him. I can't- I can't lose them." Joss says as she is crying.

"Honey, oh hey Joss. This isn't your fault. It isn't. This isn't your fault at all This it was a freak accident! And if it makes you feel any better, Cam is alive. I don't know anything else, but Cam is alive." Carly responds as she hugs her daughter tightly.

"I can drive you to the hospital, if you would like." Sonny suggested.

Joss nods solemnly, "He's going to need a friend."

"Go get your coat, get a overnight bag just in case, and I will be down here ready for you, ok? I have to go to the hospital anyway, there somethings I need to take care of."

Joss nods and goes upstairs to get her stuff ready to go see Cam. Joss looks around for her charger and coat. She goes to pack her overnight bag, and then sees it. The journal Dev had got her for her birthday. The journal that started the whole issue, the misunderstanding really. She tried to hold it together, but then it happened as she was walking thru the room getting her stuff together, she found one of Dev's hoodies, she picked it up and held it close to her, as tears streamed down. She takes a deep breath getting herself together, then shoves the hoodie in her bag, and runs downstairs.

"Okay Uncle Sonny, I am ready. I just wish, I wish Dev." Joss started, "I feel bad. We were at odds. If we wouldn't have been at odds, just maybe. No, I know for a fact, that they wouldn't have been there. They would have been here with me. We would have been studying for the SAT." Joss cries.

"Joss, sweetheart, there is no knowing that. It's not right. Not at all. It shouldn't have ended like this, Joss, but you can not blame yourself, ok? Joss, you can't. I know, your hurting, but you can't blame yourself. Okay, come on. Lets get u to Cam."

Joss nods at her uncle Sonny and walks with him to the car. She keeps close to him hugging him as they walk to the car. When they are away from the house and in the car, driving she looks at him.

"Thanks, Uncle Sonny. I know this isn't easy for you either. You loved Dev like he was your own kid. He's family, and I know you loved him. I'm sorry for your loss. I mean first Oscar, then Grandpa Mike, and now Dev. It's not right. I'm I am so sorry. If I wouldn't have been fighting with him."

"Joss don't ok. You will drive yourself crazy going over this. It's not right. It isn't. Dev crossed half the globe by himself to be part of our family. Your family is supposed to protect you, keep you safe. It is not supposed to end like this. This could be blamed on any of us, but at the end of the day, we didn't do it. We aren't who caused the explosion. I don't know what caused it, and I don't know why you two where fighting, but Joss, Dev loved you. His last words where to tell you he's sorry. He wasn't upset with you. He wanted you to know he was sorry, ok? So please Joss, don't over think it, because I am feeling the same way, but it's not our fault."

Joss nods and lays back in the car still hugging Dev's hoodie, "Is it okay, if I keep some of his hoodies and stuff to remember him, when we go threw his stuff?"

Sonny nods, as they pull up to the hospital, "Of course, Joss he was our family ok. As long as Brando gets some thing to remember him by we can keep most of it. Now, lets go find Cam."

"Okay, thank you Uncle Sonny, I love you." Joss says, hugging him

"I love you, too. I can give you good news. Dante is back. That's actually why I came to the hospital, to check on him and Lulu. Dante was on his way to see Lulu when it happened. So I have to check on them."

"Give Dante my love, Uncle Sonny. I am so glad he is home, I can't wait to see him. How long has he been home?"

"Since Grandpa Mikes funeral. Go. Go find Cam. You and Dante can catch up later, ok?"

Josslyn nods and goes to find her friend, but not before giving Sonny another hug. She runs off towards the Emergency room, trauma units so that she could find Cameron.
