Circuit 1

A New Mission

There are many worlds in the multiverse.

And in those multitude of worlds, each is different from one another.

Be it their inhabitants, their language, their culture, their natural recourse, no world is the same.

One of such worlds is a world consisting of floating islands.

The peaceful world of the Blue Sky was a world that is connected with the world of the Astrals, a race of advanced immortal beings capable of great destruction through their creation, the Primal Beast.

Using those Primal Beings as their vanguard, the Astrals were able to take over and rule above the Skydwellers. There was some resistance, but the capabilities and the destructive power of the Primal Beasts was way stronger than the capabilities of the Skydwellers.

Under the rule of the Astrals, the world of the Blue Sky flourished… is what they would have wanted. Not all of the Astrals were peaceful, some decided to use the capabilities of the Primals to subjugate the Skydwellers and use them as simple recourse.

And so, in order to fight back some of the Skydwellers decided to group up and fight back. Some of the more peaceful Astrals who wished to coexist aided them, guiding them, teaching them the way of magic and technology. Some even aided them by fighting side by side in the war.

But even with their support, the combined powers of the Astrals were too much for the Skydwellers.

That was, until an even bigger threat reared their head.

The invasion of the world of the Red Sky heralded the end of the age of Astrals, eventually forcing the creator of the world to lend it's hand and rebirthed the world.

The story itself was forgotten through the passage of time.

But that wasn't this story.

This was the story of a Primal Beast that was lost, and found it's new light in another world.

There was a Primal Beast that was heralded as one of the strongest on the army of the Astral.

The capabilities of the Primal Beast are decided by their nature, and as the greatest vanguard of the Astrals, this Primal's nature was simply one thing.

Weapons.

Swords, axes, bows, spears, this Primal Beasts destructive abilities was second to none in the army of the Astrals. Any weapons that it held would be used to its greatest capability, and that wasn't even mentioning the weapons that it held.

In the eyes of the Astrals, it was simply a weapon.

But in the eye of it's creator, it was a tool of peace. Using it's destructive capability to defeat monsters, to save lives, to slay evil and protect the weak. It was with that goal that it's creator created the Primal Beast.

Of course the more violent and warmonger-like Astrals decided to use it.

Instead of the ideals and wishes of it's creator, the Primal Beats was used and ordered to kill, maim, and slaughter. Innocent, guilty, it made no difference to the Primal Beast who only obeyed order. Be it humans, draphs, erunes, as long as they were a hindrance to the Astrals all will fall by the blade of the Primal Beast known as Etherea.

But in the end, the creator had decided to free her.

The creator knew that most of the Skydwellers had resented the Astrals, but she also knew that disposing of their strongest weapon was one of their top priority. They agreed to help her free the destructive Primal Beast.

But even then, even after being freed from the clutches of the corrupt government of the Astrals, Etherea was still sought after by both side for her destructive capability. Both seeking for the same goal of destroying the other.

In the end the peaceful creator decided to use the secret experiment that was Akasha in order to send Etherea away from both sides.

"I do not understand." the humanoid Primal Beast said to her creator.

"Hm? What part don't you understand Rea?" the Astral who was busying herself with the numerous consoles in the research facility didn't look back to her creation, but still responded. They were currently in the secret research facility of the Primal Being known as Akasha, a creature capable of ripping apart space and time.

It was made with the goal to stop the rebellion of the Skydwellers. The creator of Etherea however wished for it to be used for the sake of peace, but she knew that such a thing would simply stay a wish.

Whichever of the both sides holds Akasha will surely use their power to annihilate the other. She knows so because of the banging on the door behind her, guarded by Rea herself to give her time to program the space altering Primal Beast.

"I do not understand why you are doing such an action, creator. Why have you betrayed the other Astrals?" Etherea asked while holding back the numerous machines sent to destroy them by the Astrals. The blue spear on the hand of Etherea was able to pierce the metal plating of the machines.

All of the attack from the ginormous machines was easily dodged, allowing the Primal Beast to perform a counter. Each of her attacks was done with the sake of disabling her opponent. A single strike with her [Spiral Spear] was enough to annihilate the robots, while with a swing of her spear, a wall of light was made and nullified the damage from the machines of the Astrals.

Her creator ignored the clash behind her, focusing on the mechanical console that controlled Akasha. "Hm… why did I betray the Astrals you ask? I guess it's because I don't agree with their ways." her progress with reprogramming Akasha was almost complete, but she was sure that the Astrals were sending more of their stronger units.

The machines that they were fighting were none other than the security guards of the facility, and with all of the other Astrals on the place already disabled, there is no doubt that the Central already knows of her actions.

"You do not agree with their ways?" with another swipe of her spear, Etherea sliced another mecha.

"Yep! They were using you for needless violence after all. If anything I wanted to use you for the sake of peace… but I see that I was too naive." she stopped for a second before continuing her work. At this point the numbers of the security robots has already been reduced from the hundreds into single digits, and even now that number was still dwindling down.

With another [Spiral Spear] Etherea finished off the last of the machines. She proceeded to secure the perimeter, and after confirming that there were no more threat, Etherea approached her creator.

"I… really wanted to use you for peace. But I guess I never thought about what you wanted to do." her creator said, still working on with the console. The Primal Beast that was sleeping in it's container started to stir awake, as shown by the slight glow of power that it's form emanated.

"Etherea, what do you want to do?" she asked the blue haired Primal Beast next to her.

"I wish to perform the actions that you wish me to perform, creator." hearing the answer given to her, the Astral let out a sigh of disappointment.

"Well I guess I should have expected this… you weren't given any chance to think for your own huh." At that point the Primal Beast Akasha had awakened, drowning the whole underground facility with it's aura of power.

The Astral lets go of the console, for it had already finished its work and stared back at the Primal Beast she had created. She then took a deep breath and stared straight into Rea's blood red eyes, "Rea, I will now give you your final order."

The Astral was a researcher, a war-hater, a pacifist. She made the Primal Beast in front of her for the sake of peace, but the order that it had received was surely that which brings death and destruction onto others. Even the order that she herself has given to her were simply that of 'protect me' or 'incapacitate the enemy'.

She felt regret creating the being in front of her, for it had brought nothing but pain and suffering onto others, the exact opposite of what she tried to achieve. And yet she couldn't help but pity her creation, for it knew naught of the warm touch of a family, it knew naught of happiness of creating bonds, nor any joy in her life.

All it simply knew was that it was a weapon, and that she was meant to kill.

She then pointed towards the spinning blue vortex that had appeared behind the living weapon, and gave her final order. "I order you, Primal Beast of weapons Etherea, to go through the portal. Find the answer to life and your own questions… And please… please live your life on your own accord."

Without pause, the Primal Beast did as she was ordered to. She walked into the space ripping vortex of blue and her existence on the world of the Blue Sky had disappeared like the morning dew.

The first thing that the Primal Beast noticed after she had entered the blue vortex was a bright light. She doesn't know how long she was left in the spinning vortex made by the Primal Beast of space and time.

Maybe it was just a few seconds, perhaps it was hours, maybe it was days, in the disorienting blue vortex, the Primal Beast that embodied weapons had lost her track of time. She had felt relieved when her vision was freed of the spinning blue as it had been replaced by a blinding white light.

And it was at that moment that she felt something was truly wrong.

She felt that her form was smaller, weaker, left to the whim of her foes and unable to do anything of note. She tried to reach out to her weapon, each and everyone of them were accounted for, but she could not bring them out to this plane of existence. No matter how hard she tried summoning the weapons that embodied her very existence, all that came out were whimpers and cries of a newborn.

And as she felt something wrapped around her, she attempted to free her current vessel by thrashing wildly. She then heard several voices, speaking in a language that she does not comprehend. Then she felt weak, or rather weaker, as her vision of the bright light started to blur and fade to blackness.

Unknowingly, the Primal Beast Etherea for the first time in her life filled with war and bloodshed, had taken a nap.

For the next few years, Etherea had been at the mercy of giants that called themself her parents.

Over the span of the first years, Etherea had deciphered the language that they speak with. And over time, she was able to regain the motor controls that she once had, though not without some minor difficulty and discoveries of her own.

Whatever happened between the travel from the world of the Blue Sky and to wherever or whenever that she was now, something had altered her vessel. She recalled a flash of color while she was inside the blue vortex that her creator had sent her through.

A flash of a multitude of colors, as if she was looking into a kaleidoscope, a flash of an all encompassing darkness, and then red filled her sight before it was promptly blinded by the flash of light. From the information that she had deciphered, her current vessel was identical to that of her previous one, disregarding the difference in height and power.

Her locks of dark blue hair had hid her right eye, but it did nothing to hamper her vision of the world with her scarlet eyes. It was quite a task to always try to look up to see humans who claim that they were older than her, but she had long understood that they did not know of her true form which was that of a Primal Beast of weapons.

At the age of three, she managed enough motor controls to roam around their house. It was there that she had discovered books which gave her knowledge of the world she was in. Unlike the world the was originally from which consisted of floating islands, this one consisted of continents separated by large bodies of water. Through their scientific endeavors they also discovered that the world was in the shape of a sphere, though from what she heard there were others who still refuse to accept the fact.

The world that she inhabited had none of the diverse races of the world of the Blue Sky, for the only main races that inhabit it were simply humans. There were no other races such as erunes, no horned humans such as draphs, no small sized long eared harvin, only humans. Though that was apparently only the knowledge of the people who aren't in contact with the supernatural like her caretakers.

The giants, or rather normal sized adults, who claim that they were her parents had adopted her, had the occupation of an exorcist. They were people who fought against supernatural creatures to defend humanity from the evil clutches of devils and monsters. Every night t they would regal to her and her sister their adventures of vanquishing evil and protecting the weak in the land of Italy.

But for her it didn't matter. For Etherea Florence, the prestige of her family and sibling doesn't matter. All that matters to her was to find the answer to life, the last order given to her by her creator.

It would seem that my sibling has turned famous.

There was something that was held by the church that me and my sister went through. It would seem that it was to test someone's affinity with the light element. Light element is the weakness of devils, the archenemy of the church and all that it stands for, and so the church is gathering people that have affinity towards the element.

This one did not pass the test, the reason being I do not possess the affinity for the element of light. The reason being that my nature was that of a weapon, and it was through my weapons that I could perform elemental attacks all according to the weapons affinity and abilities. But those abilities that I am able to use are currently incredibly limited. Because my vessel is significantly weaker, I can only use a small portion of my power.

My sister and her affinity to the element of light was not the only thing that made her famous.

The holy sword Durandal.

A sword that was once used by Roland, a legendary paladin of Charlemagne. The sword's destructive power and light properties are said to be that of the same as the legendary Excalibur which was used by king Arthur. Combined with the fact that it's indestructible meant that it was one of the strongest weapons with light properties that exist in this world. It was said that it's wielder would be chosen by the sword itself, due to the fact that it is a sentient sword, it became picky of it's user and doesn't want any normal people using it.

Xenovia was the wielder that it chose.

Her parents were ecstatic, knowing that a child of theirs was chosen by God to use one of the strongest swords there was. I myself didn't particularly care nor did I pay attention towards the notion that it brought.

Ever since she was chosen by Durandal, even getting close to this sibling of mine had become a hard task. Everywhere she went, there would be a whole group of exorcists or other religious people following her. Some would approach me with the goal to simply ridicule the fact that I possess no potential in the light element.

Eventually they would leave me alone, focusing their attention to Xenovia and slowly but surely losing their interest in me. Some would still mock at my general direction whenever they see me, smiling in a condescending way. The time that Xenovia took inside the house lessened greatly, using most of the daylight training with other exorcists and studying under priests.

Her parents too, started to lose interest in the child that they adopted out of pity. It started by them paying more attention to Xenovia, then slowly leaving her alone with the reasoning of wanting to train Xenovia, and eventually she was the only one staying in the Fiore household.

But she doesn't mind, loneliness was a constant friend in the battlefield where her allies fell one by one. She mostly spends her time reading the many books that she hadn't read, or maybe exploring the region. Eventually one day she came home to a house which door was left open.

Something was not right. The atmosphere around the house was suffocating, it was as if she was at a battlefield facing an unbelievably strong enemy.

There was a chance that someone had broken in. My parents were exorcists, people who takes joy in not only slaying devils but also heretics

Which meant that there would be people trying to get revenge.

Now how to confront this problem is the question. I could go in but how would that help? I was a basically child, a fight against a possible group of devils or heretics seeking revenge is not in my favour. If there are exorcists like my parents then I would simply be a hindrance in battle.

True to my deduction, I could hear grunts and sounds of breaking furniture . Either my parents win, or the devils do. If my parents do, then I would have to be able to sneak in before they noticed I was gone. Or maybe they already do know that I was gone and that could cause problems.

If they lose however. Then there would be nobody to sustain myself financially, not to mention that the house will be a crime scene for the murder of two people. Or maybe the church would dispose of their bodies.

Not long the sound of fighting stopped, and in its place was a conversation.

"Did you dispose of the woman?" said a rough voice, it was probably a man judging by the weight of the voice. Whether or not they were a devil or a human is not something that I was able to discern.

That or it was a girl, if I'm correct there was magic that can disguise one's voice after all.

"Yea, it wasn't hard at all! Are these losers really the parents of the kid that had amazing light powers?" The voice came from another person, another man perhaps?

"Yes. And if the information was correct, there should be another child here."

"What, Another kid? Does she have powers like her sister?"

"No, she does not."

"They why the fuck should we care! The job was just to kill those two right?" The second one sounded agitated. He mentioned that it was a job to kill them? I guess they're not seeking revenge then.

"You are correct, I was just thinking how we should just dispose of her before she becomes a threat."

"Ha! A threat? A little shit with no powers nor magic? Don't make me laugh."

"There is always a chance that she holds a sacred gear."

The conversation went silent after the mention of the artifact.

Sacred gear.

A weapon given by the gods to humans. It was said that most historical figures that had great influence in the world had these weapons.

"Are you sure that she has one?" The second person broke the silence.

"No,it's simply an assumption."

The second figure clicked their tongue, "Do what you want, I'm leaving." A few seconds later I felt a burst of mana and his presence leave the area.

"I know you're there, show yourself."

My heart stopped and dread filled the air. A suffocating aura fell on top of me, and all thought that entered my mind became blank.

How had he figured out that I was here!? I had thought that I had masked my presence enough, all the times that I sneaked out without my surrogate parents knowing certainly led me to recreate the technique of stealth integrated into my old form, but to think that someone could easily see through!

My hands were trembling, while my heart was beating so fast. I was hysteric, I know. I tried to calm myself, but soon I heard footsteps. And they were growing louder.

My heart beat skyrocketed. Sweat was flowing down my forehead. I bit my lips until it drew blood to not let a scream of terror and dread run out of my mouth.

Then I heard him slam open a door.

"Not here huh."

My heart beat paced down to a normal and non-erratic. My hands stopped trembling, but I still feel dread all over my body.

Even after facing countless foes on the battlefield, I had never faltered. I never flinched in the face of an adversary nor in the face of danger. But the fear of death, the emanating waft of blood and the feeling of weakness has made me sense fear for the first time.

"Oh well, guess I'll return." I then felt a burst of mana, possibly that in the form of a magic circle. And in just a single moment, the suffocating demonic aura has disappeared.

I let out the breath that I didn't know I was holding.

And at that point I lost my conciousness.

"The devils sure did a work on them."

I was sent here by the church to see how the parents of the new wielder of Durandal were doing, but it would seem that the devils were faster than I was.

But from what I heard they had another child.

I only found two bodies, and they were adults. No sign of a child anywhere.

I searched inside the house and found nothing, I thought that the devils might have taken her.

But when I searched outside the house, I found a child with blue hair. She fits the description alright.

I picked her up and gently touched her cheeks.

"Wake up my child."

I saw her open her ruby eyes, and her deep blue hair was a dead giveaway of her identity.

"Who... are... you..." She asked weakly.

I only smiled and answered.

"My name is Valper Galilei, and it's all going to be fine my child."
