Hijinks Chapter 9, a ninjago fanfic

Synopsis: Sometimes, People are nicer than they seem.

-A few days prior to Stand Proud and the night of Operation Jaya-

Harumi silently walked into the great hall where her parents were sitting.

"I know the school called… I know they told you about the fight…" She sighed.

"Harumi, you can't pick a fight with whoever doesn't listen to you, these are our people, not servants" The Queen said.

"I know… but, she started it!" Harumi yelled.

"Yet you fought back and didn't have to, not to mention you poured your drink all over her" The King frowned.

"Yes father…." Harumi sighed. "We love you, but you won't listen…" The Queen said. "Do you need to talk to Hutchins?" The King asked. "N-" Harumi started, but then was interrupted by Hutchins.

"Yes, of course, She always comes to me for when she needs help, Isn't that right?" Hutchins firmly grabbed her shoulder. Harumi winced and nodded. "Come with me then…" Hutchins grabbed her by the hand and snatched her hand and led her down the hall into her room.

Harumi stood there and closed her eyes, hanging her head down.

"Didn't I tell you what would happen if you got into another fight!" Hutchins yelled. "I'm sorry… I just got roped up!" She fumbled her words. "That's your excuse for every fight!" Hutchins struck her across the face. Harumi put a hand to her face as tears rolled down her face. "Stop your crying, you weak piece of shit, you expect to rule, and can't even handle a slap to the face" He rolled his eyes.

"I-it's y-your fault…" She stuttered. "What was that?!" He got in her face. "You're the reason!" She shouted. "Oh you little bitch" Hutchins grabbed his staff and hit her in the leg. Harumi fell to the ground and cried in Pain. He took of his belt and hit her in the back. "GET BACK UP!" He hit her again. Harumi struggled to lift herself up off the floor. Hutchins struck her with the belt again. "Stop! Please" She cried as she fell to the floor from the hit. "I SAID GET BACK UP" Hutchins kicked her across the floor. Harumi clenched her stomach and coughed.

"You're weak! A weak queen! Can't even get back up… Hold out your arm" Hutchins said as he walked over to her. Harumi weakly held out her arm. Hutchins grabbed it and pushed back her sleeve. "So you've been cutting huh? Giving yourself more pain? And everyone at school thinks you're this unproblematic princess, if only they knew what was underneath" Hutchins shook his head. Harumi closed her eyes and winced as she took each of the hits.

10….

Hutchins put back on his belt. "I would hit you with the staff more, but your parents would question why you have a broken arm" He looked at the bruised girl on the floor. "Nobody's Perfect Harumi, you are far from it, I don't know why you made me do this… Everything I do is because I love you… Maybe" He walked out the room. "Remember, this is our little secret" His voice trailed.

Harumi laid on the floor and looked at the ceiling, why did they have to hire Hutchins… She missed the old guy who had this white beard and this staff with weird symbols…. She crawled over to her desk and pulled out a knife. "One more cut, for one more beating…" She crawled in the bed, and cried herself to sleep.

-Monday Morning-

Kai's Pov:

I woke up and got out of bed, It was Monday… Great, a new day, full of stupid shit and stupid things. Maybe he should fake sick today. I walked downstairs and saw Nya sitting down at the coffee table, drinking some hot chocolate.

"School doesn't start until 12 today, we have like 4 hours" she said and went back to her magazine. "Really, huh, I finally get a break" I said as I joined Nya at the table. Nya raised an eyebrow at me and tilted her head. "Aren't you going with Cole and the others?" Nya asked. "Nah, I'd rather spend the late school time with my little sister" I said, plus I need a break from Harumi after what she did to Nya 3 days ago. Nya smiled and got up.

"Where are you going?" I asked. "Don't you also want some hot chocolate?" She laughed. "Ohhhh, I thought you were getting ready to leave" I sighed in relief. Nya fixed me a cup, and sat down and slid it to me. "Do you ever not enjoy being here by ourselves" I asked. "I really do miss mom and dad sometimes, but I know we'll see them again someday…" Nya sighed. "At least we have each other" I said. "What if you leave me also… What if you die?!" Nya put her head down. "Don't think like that, I'll always be by your side…remember that promise we made when we were little?" I asked. "Yeah, I've got your back and you always have mine" She smiled. "Always" I hugged her.

"Have you figured out if you have powers yet?" Nya formed a ball of water in her hand. "No, but I see you've been training it" I smirked. "Sensei says I could one day control an ocean, or maybe even turn into it" She laughed. (I am so sorry) "I got my powers from leaving Harumi, maybe you also need to". "But, Cole's my best friend, I couldn't leave him…and Skylor would hate me for leaving standing up to her best friend" I sighed. "Kai, Skylor wouldn't be mad, she'll understand, she still loves you, but its her who wonders if you still love her" Nya explained. I looked back at all the times I had made out with another girl… I broke her heart many times…. Maybe Lloyd was right, I do need to change… "I'm gonna make it up to her" I promised.

-Cole-

"NO! I don't want to be like you! I'm okay about who I am!" Cole ran out the door with tears in his eyes. He dropped to his knees in on the sidewalk, did he even know who he was? "I'm Cole, My mom is dead, and I have a dad who wants me to be just like him…" Cole sighed as he got back up. He looked like a fool breaking down in public. Luckily Nobody saw.

Cole's Pov:

I brush of my pants as I walk to school, school started late for the end of the year talent show… Harumi wanted him to sing a dumb song with her. I wanted to sing my own thing, but I don't know if I was brave enough. How could I not be brave enough? I'm the captain of the football team! But the only reason why is so nobody would bully me… so I couldn't be bothered. If people think you're strong, they won't care about how strong you are on the inside. I arrived at school where everyone the group was awaiting me.

"Hey Cole!" Kai said to me. He looked so happy, like he was going to do something that might change his life forever. "You guys ready for the talent show?" Harumi filed her nails. "Well, about that…" Kai rubbed his neck. "About what?!" Harumi turned to him. "I'm kinda, not doing the show anymore, or this… friend group" Kai shrugged. "You can't be serious…" Harumi groaned. "Me and Nya had a 4 hour tall about it…" Kai explained. I stood watching this go down. "Ugh! You all are idiots!" Harumi pushed him out the way.

"Did you just push him?" Skylor stood in front of her. "Yeah, I did, So? And why do you care, unless…" Harumi formed an evil smile on her face. "You still like him, don't you?" She smirked. Skylor hesitated. "Hey Harumi, come on they just don't want to-" I was cut off my Harumi giving me the stare. "Oh wow, and to think all the times he's cheated on you, I'm sure he's also done other things" Harumi paced around her. "That's not true!" Kai yelled. "No… I don't like him… I hate him, he's no good to me…" Skylor sighed. Kai's face dropped and he ran inside. "I knew it was a lie!" He yelled behind him.

"Kai, No! Wait!" Skylor ran after him. I glared at Harumi. "Why do you keep making it worse?" I asked. She looked at me, was about to say something, and then rubbed her leg. "Nothing" she said and walked off. "Nothing? That's not even an answer…" I thought. She's acting pretty weird if you ask me.

Skylor's Pov:

"Kai! Stop Running!" I yelled after him. "Why! Are you gonna lie again?" He turned around and faced me. "No… I wanted to tell you… that… I didn't mean any of that I said back there" I said. "Skylor, you don't have to keep lying, I know I've been a terrible boyfriend, and if that's the way you feel you don't have to hide it from me" Kai looked away from me. "WHY WON'T YOU LISTEN TO ME" I yelled then covered my mouth. "Is that really how you feel…" He sighed. "If you won't listen to words, then I guess you'll listen to actions" I grabbed his face and kissed him. He held me tight and we broke the kiss. "Did you just do that in the middle of the hall?" Kai chuckled.

"Wow… Clap Clap Clap" Harumi rolled her eyes as she walked down the hall with the rest of the cheer squad.

"Harumi, I'm also done with you, I don't know why you're like this now, but you used to be so cool, and then you just became this egotistic brat. I stayed friends with you because I thought you could change, but it looks like that was a lie, maybe I'll give you another chance when you aren't such a bitch" I said.

"Fine! Who cares! I don't need any of you! I still have my group!" Harumi scoffed and walked off. "Shall we?" Kai grabbed my hand. "We shall" I laughed. As our hands touched, I felt a flow of fire enter me, what just happened? I'll have to ask someone about it, Maybe Lloyd…

Lloyd's Pov:

I walked through the hallways of the school, thinking about the dream I had, It was just a dream, and yet it was so… real… I saw a dark purple blade chain with blood on it, a portal in the air, and the eyes… it was the eyes… Like I had seen them before… I felt my oni side creeping up on me, it was using the dream to try to take over. I shook my head and kept walking to the auditorium. I personally wasn't going to participate, but I guess I'll watch, better to get there early and get a good seat. I walk into the auditorium and get a seat in the front row. I look to my side, and for some reason, Harumi was sitting there with her phone in her hand.

"Hey, why aren't you with your friends?" I asked. She looked over at me and sighed. "I've lost them all" She went back to her phone. "You still have me" I smiled. She put down her phone and looked at me with a saddened expression. "Am I a terrible person?" She asked. "No, but you do terrible things, but I can see it's only because something's bothering you" I put an arm around her. "They may hate you now, but if you show them who you truly are inside, maybe they'll forgive you" I assured. She looked down and then smiled at me. "You're the only one who's said something that nice to me in years…" Tears streamed down her eyes. "I want to show you something" She rolled up her sleeves and showed her cut arms.

"Why are you doing this to yourself!" I grabbed her hand. "It's for… every… b- mistake I made..." She stuttered. "Don't punish yourself like this, you should make sure you don't make the same ones over and over again, but… not like this" I worried. "Easy for you to say… You're the good guy in every story" She got up and wiped the tears off her face. "I have to go, tell the squad I won't be doing the show anymore" She ran off. I looked at her, something was off… then I felt something cold brush against me.

"Hello, green one, our meeting will be soon" A shadow with red eyes against the wall appeared. It was those eyes! The eyes… of the over- NO!

"Leave me alone!" I yelled. "Tsk Tsk Tsk, so weak… and yet you feel so prepared" The overlord said. "I'm not weak!" I punched the shadow and it teleported. "You thought you could punch a shadow!? You might not be weak, but you sure are stupid" Overlord laughed at me. I could do nothing, I was powerless, he was in my head, he could feel all my thoughts….

"So you have feelings for the girl huh? Would be a shame to let her get hurt" He laughed manically. "Leave her, and my other friends alone!" I said. "Are they really your friends? You know, Cole's only been using you so Harumi would go away from him" He circled around me. "I know… but he's changed!" I said… but didn't think that. "Did Harumi ever tell you the real reason she was cutting herself?" he asked. "Yeah, for every mistake?" I half said half asked. "NO, YOU IMBICLE, SHE'S ABUSED!" The overlord growled. "No! Don't say that!" I yelled back.

"You never cared to ask because you're SELFISH, you think all of them are jerks but never cared to see what was happening with them! Cole's mother died when he was young, Kai and Nya's Parents have been missing for a long time, Jay's adopted, Zane and Pixal have doubts about being robots… And your solution to helping my daughter was to kill me… You didn't even think twice to see if I would remove the curse… because I'm "evil" I might be evil, but that's still my daughter!" The overlord said as a cloud of angry darkness swirled around me.

"No! Stop! I know they're good people!" I screamed. "DO YOU THINK YOUR FATHER EVER LOVED YOU?! HE DIDN'T LEAVE BECAUSE HE WAS EVIL, ITS BECAUSE HE SAW NOTHING IN YOU! YOUR POOR MOTHER HAS TO DEAL WITH YOU, A NOBODY, NOTHING SPECIAL!" The overlord continued to break my mind.

"SHUT UPPPPPP!" A giant green burst of energy filled the room, and just like that, the overlord was gone… I silently cried to myself… did my father love me? Maybe a seat in the back was better…

-Talent Show Time-

Everyone's acts were either the same or great, it was the schools biggest event besides the prom. But now, it was Cole's turn to do his song…

He walked up the stage nervously and grabbed the mic.

"Hello, everyone… I want to share something… I know I'm the popular kid.. captain of the football team, but that's not who I truly am inside… I used that as a cover to hide myself from who I really was, a nice, quiet, anxious kid…" Cole sighed. "I know you don't believe me, but I used to be like some of you… bullied, ignored, no friends, and most of all, pretending to be someone I'm not… I know some of you have felt like who you are isn't great… and maybe I'm the one who made you feel that way… but, There's something I want to sing that helps me get through that…" He said.

"Okay… here we go" He whispered to himself. The music started and he looked at the crowd.

Another Voice started to sing and Cole looked to his side as Seliel came up on stage. He smiled at her.

Everyone started to stomp their feet and clap

A mountain started to appear under Cole and Seliel gasped, as they had just found the next member

Cole and Seliel bowed in front of the crowd and everyone cheered. She looked at him jumed into his arms, he lifted her up and spun her around. He then put her down and rubbed his arm. Seliel smirked and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Cole blushed and they walked off the stage.

They saw Harumi leaning against the wall

"Harumi, please… not-" Cole started. "I didn't come here to be upset, I came to say… thank you" She shook both of their hands and left. "That was new" Seliel shrugged. "She's been acting weird lately" Cole said. "Let's hope she changes her act" They went over to their friends who cheered them on.

"THAT WAS AMAZING!" Kai said. "Way better than anything we could have planned" Jay chuckled. "Get over here, ya big softy" Nya embraced both of them in a hug. "You guys thinking eat out tonight?" Zane asked. "You bet!" Skylor said. They all Laughed and talked as they walked out the door. Harumi watched from afar as the old friends were, friends again… she smiled to herself and left. Lloyd saw her leave and thought about what the overlord said...

This… was the longest and probably the best chapter I've made… I WASN'T SUPOSSED TO FINISH TILL THURSDAY… I finished this all-in-one day but couldn't post it till now, not to mention word corrupted the file and luckily, I can access it on the online version... Note to self... Make backups. Also just gave you an insight into one of the overlord's powers, mind manipulation.
