TW: Abduction Mention

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

In the lounge where most of them were. Andy, Maya, Dean, Ben, and their captain, they all sat quietly as the emergency alert for a missing child buzzed through the T.V speakers and throughout the firehouse. It had been the fifth alert for same child in two hours and the speech was burned into everyone's brains at this point.

Child abduction. Seattle Police Department. Victim is described as 3 year old Olivia Spencer, Black Female, Brown hair, last seen wearing a Blue shirt with "Happy Fathers Day Daddy" written in black and grey jeans.

It repeats itself a couple of times, but it eventually turns off. Andy moves her eyes to Robert, trying to find his but he left before she could even get the chance. Decided to give him a few minutes before following him. Then they moved to Dean who was staring into space

Not even five minutes later the same alert blasted through the tv again causing Maya to reach over and turn it off. Andy rose from her seat and left the lounge in hopes of finding him in his office, but that was not the case. She sighed deeply and wiped the stray tear that fell from her eye away and turned towards the stairs. The breath of relief didn't go unnoticed when she saw him leaning against the railing on the catwalk.

She didn't know what to say because she too felt exactly what he did. Worry, sadness, hopelessness for the world. She couldn't help but place herself between his body and the railing, holding his face in both palms. Didn't care that they were at the center of the firehouse, didn't care that every eye in the building could be on them at this moment… she just didn't care. His comfort, how he was doing is what she cared about… nothing else.

Her eyes piercing his, she reached to swipe what felt like the same tear that rolled on her cheek, but was now on his.

It was a weird sight to everyone, seeing their hard, cold-hearted captain show any type of emotion. It was even a rarer sight to see Andy… the love, comfort that she tried to give to someone. And to top it off, they were doing it together.

She reached up to place her lips on his and held it for all of fifteen seconds before their bubble was popped. Dispatch requesting aid car.

"That's me." Andy whispered after pulling away and he sighed and nodded. "You're okay?" She asked, never letting his face go.

"Are you okay?" He repeated to her and she shrugged. He gripped her wrist pulling her hand down and kissing the palm of it. "Go."

Letting go and running downstairs to meet dean in the aid car, she sighed heavily and so did he. "How are you holding up?" Andy asked as they drove from the station.

"Just wanna go home to my little girl as soon as possible."

Coming back from the call, they caught just the ending of the emergency alert.

Earlier, when the first alert filled their ears they were all a bit uneasy. Then the second one came, and she still had not been found, and a third and fourth one with no good news. And by the third one it started to very emotional in the house, more to some than others. Considering the day, it was any parents' worst nightmare.

Andy patted Miller on the back and walked over to the beanery.

"Herrera." It made her stop in her tracks and turn to whoever was calling her. Ben. Walking towards her as she stuffed her hands into her front pockets. "How are you.. " He asked and Andy shrugged.

"I'm good, was about to go find Robert…" And ben nodded.

"You know… you're allowed to feel how he's feeling right now… she's yours too." He said and Andy gave him a sly smile and took a step back.

"I'm okay, Warren…" She said and even though she sounded convincing, her heart felt heavy. It's felt like that all day but she dared not complain.

Turning on her heels she moved to through the station and could see the captain's blinds closed. She was worried about him, it's natural. She knocked softly but didn't wait for an answer as she entered the room. Seeing as he was wrapping up a phone call, she leaned her back against the door frame waiting for him to finish.

"Yes sir…. We'll make it work… Okay…" Was the last thing he said before placing the phone back on the hook. Looking up towards the door, a small smile stretched across his face as he motioned her over. She closed the door to the office before walking over to him, halfway sitting on the desk.

"You okay?" He asked her and it's the third time someone had asked her that today. Andy nodded as her eyes searched his desk. Startled once again.

They both sighed at the same time…. Mid way through the message, Andy's thumb slid across a little glass covered faced, smiling thinking of the moment the picture was taken. "Her first Halloween…" Robert said and Andy never took her eyes from the photo.

"She was so tiny…" Andy spoke looking at a six-month-old baby, dressed as a fire hydrant with chocolate covering half of her face. The photo next to it was said chocolate covered face smashing into Andy's cheek as Andy playfully frowned. "My babygirl." She whispered, feeling a tear fall from down her cheek.

Robert glanced at her, pulling her from the desk and into his lap where she laid her head on his shoulder as he held her around her waist. "I'll never forget how freaked out you were when she said her first words…" He mumbled into her hair.

"Oh god." She said. "And I'll never forget how upset you were when she said "Ma ma" as her first words instead of "da da"…" Andy said biting back a smile.

"And yet you still raised her to call you Andy…" He said staring into space. Andy lifted her head and looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "I know…"

"Yes… you do." She said laying her head back down, sighing loudly. "I would never want to take that away from Claire." She admitted for the third time since their daughter was born.

"You wouldn't be taking anything away from her." He said softly. "Yes Claire is her mother biologically. She always will be, but the only person she knows is you…"

Andy shook her head and meddled with the hem of her shirt. "In the future… if she wishes to start referring to me as that, she will and I will be perfectly fine with that but I want it to be on her terms…"

He nodded and they sat in a comfortable silence, the only thing to be heard is the squeaking of the swivel chair as he rocked them back and forth. Calming enough for Andy's eyelids to hover over her pupils and her breathing evening out. She was asleep. But it was also short lived because again…

New information: Suspect could be traveling in a silver sedan with no plate.

The second one in other an hour…the little girl still hadn't been found.

"She was taken from her front yard, her home Robert… the place where she is supposed to feel safe. I-It's father's day…" He kissed the top of her head before she could lift it… "The description has been haunting me all day…" she said tiredly and he tightened his grip around her waist.

It's the thing that stuck with him the most also. They couldn't help but think about it every second of every minute of every hour. They sat there for a few more minutes. Andy noticed a picture frame. It was faced downward so she sat up, placing it upright. In silence staring at the picture of their little girl on the desk. Only in this one, she was by herself. Showing all of her little teeth as Andy was behind Robert, making faces to make her laugh. That day it was taken… it was also Father's Day, but last year. Her brown hair in two braids… her shirt. The writing… "Happy Father's Day Daddy." It bothered them deeply, but she was so happy that day. It's like they could hear the same little giggles now… how much comfort it brings them to hear her happy and smiling.

Being so zoned out, they didn't hear the knock on the door, but whoever it was let themselves in.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!" They heard and both of their heads turned in sync towards the door. An instead electric feeling filled their veins seeing a three-year-old Aurora hold a small plate with a cupcake in the center.

A six-year-old Pru groaned lowly. "No Rory... that's not what we practiced." She stood about a foot above her. Pru kneeled down to whisper something into Aurora's ear and they could hear her little giggle.

"Oops!" She said. "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DADDY!" She corrected herself with just about the same excitement she had on the initial attempt. His heart bursting at her mistake and Andy rose from her spot in his lap and Robert made his way over to his daughter.

"What's up Pru." He said holding out his fist for her the bump his with hers.

"Hey Captain." She said and scurried off.

"And this." HE said turning to his daughter. "Is just the little beautiful face I wanted to see." He said lifting her from the ground, careful not to make her drop the treat on the plate.

"Did you miss me?" She asked toying with the pins on his collar and he nodded, kissing her cheek softly.

"I did miss you." He said putting the plate on his desk and she wrapped her arms tightly around his neck. "I missed you all day."

"Can I tell you something Daddy? You can't be mad at me because I am your little girl" She asked and Andy scoffed playfully, shaking her head. She knew the hold she had on her Dad and uses it to her advantage like a tool. Pulling away and held her cheeks in between her tiny hands and he nodded, worried. "You had two cupcakes, one was chocolate and this one is strawberry cheesecake, but I ate the chocolate one in Auntie Vic's car." She admitted and Robert chuckled and from the look of brown icing over her face, he believed her. "And it had a pretty ring on it but I licked the icing off and threw it away."

"It's okay." He said and looked back to Andy who was watching the scene unfold.

"Sorry to just bring them by…" They heard and glanced at Vic who had walked through the door. "I figured you two and Dean would want to see them considering everything."

"No, thank you Hughes… really." Andy said and Robert nodded kissing the top of his daughters head and the little girl looked over to the voice she had heard for the first time.

"Andy!" She screamed and tried to wiggle from her father's embrace, but he had a tight hold on her, sure not to allow her to fall.

"Wait a minute Aurora…" He scolded and Andy made her way over to them, reaching for her.

"Hi, my love." She said sweetly as she seen the smile stretched across her face. "How was your day today?"

The little girl took a minute to think. "I will tell you after Daddy let's me eat his other cupcake…"

"and what makes you so sure that Daddy doesn't want to eat his own cupcake?" She asked and Aurora peeked back at her father, who had the cupcake up to his lips about to take a bite until he caught the look Aurora was giving. Her lip pouted and the droopy puppy dog eyes caused him to give in and fork the cupcake over.

"Thank you Daddy." She snickered and Andy shook her head at how easily he gave in. "I will share with you."

Robert gasped and so did Andy as she readjusted her on her hip. "You're sharing my cupcake with me?" He asked. "That is very considerate of you Rory."

"This is very rare." Andy instigated.

They watched as she tried her best to unwrap the paper from around the bottom before she told him to take a small bite.

"That wasn't small…" She whined and pulled it from him mouth. "Your turn." She said now holding it up to Andy. "Small." She emphasized and Andy nodded, taking the same size bite as Robert, only leaving her a small bite left and Aurora pouted. "That's not fair."

"Rory you've already had a cupcake. That's a lot of sugar, my love. Stop whining please." Andy said moving her hair from her face then wiping the icing from the previous cupcake from her cheeks. "It was supposed to be a gift to daddy anyways…"

She huffed and glanced at the cupcake in her hand. "Here daddy. You can have the rest." She mumbled and Robert raised an eyebrow.

"Thank you." He said eating what was left. Andy carried her to the sofa in the office and sat Aurora in her lap while Robert sat beside them.

"I am sleepy." She muttered and wrapped her arms around Andy's neck. "Can I stay here until you go home?" She said looking back and forth between her parents and Robert shook his head.

"I'm sorry Princess. You can't stay overnight…" He said softly and she looked down at her hands.

"I know." She said and laid her head on Andy's chest.

"but you can stay for a few more hours and then we can call abuelo to come get you?" Andy suggested and Rory rose her head with a small smile. "Yea?"

"Yes." She said and the moment her little cool lips made contact with her nose, it made Andy's heart jump. It is a common thing she does, but Andy will never get used to it. It's Andy's favorite thing that she does. "Can I go sleep in there daddy?" She asked pointing to his bunk and he nodded his head. She maneuvered from Andy's lap and rubbed her eyes. She motioned her father to bring his head towards are and she kissed his cheek. "Happy Birthday again Daddy." She said.

"Father's Day baby." Andy said and she giggled quietly.

"Oh yea." She said and Andy and Robert chuckled at her confusion and watched as she crawled into the bed and got comfortable.

Okay allow me to explain the timeline if anyone cares. SOOO Robert and Claire were not together when Aurora was born… Claire died during labor (sad). Andy and Robert when Robert moved to montana, maybe a month after Rory was born… then after auroras first birthday andy adopted her and so on….
