Chapter 30
-It's okay! -Whisper William beginning to keep all his things-. We're like at the beginning.
-Right.
-I'm not going to face these people face out. Even if it's with the backup. I'm not going to lose anyone.
In that instant, as if the devil were entering the game on his own, the inside of the bar became hell. The sound of several revolvers in action, they were heard clearly. Alarmed by the noise, the two men guarding the warehouse ran out, unraping their weapons. Two accurate rifle shots from the inside ended their lives with dangerous speed.
-Now! -George whispered, ripping off a boat from the detective-. Let's go!
Anticipating that the men inside the bar were not expecting another visit John and Julia ran towards the warehouse as William and George headed towards the den. Guarding at all times the safety of dr. the young Brackenreid entered the warehouse carrying his revolver. However, after taking a quick look, he understood that there was no danger there. Although the place was quite dark he glimpsed the frightened face of some thirty young men who looked at him with great fear.
-Calm down -the young man whispered, lowering his gun-. We're here to help you.
-John.
-Yes doctor.
-I'll take care of them. Help George and William.
-All right.
On the street the two policemen approached the joint very cautiously. After the bewildering noise of bullets that left them almost deaf in a few seconds, there was now a strange silence. When they were about to enter, they threw the two boats inside the bar while protecting their mouths with their handkerchiefs.
William and George rightly entered the ground, anticipating the men inside to start shooting. However, the detective's new invention took its immediate effect. The two men closest to the door were blinded by smoke while taking their hands to their mouths, beginning to cough. The gesture caused them to lower their weapons. At that instant George and William attacked with decision with the only weapon of their pugilistic abilities. Although the vision became increasingly difficult, they soon got rid of their enemies with a blunt combination of blows.
-Bloody hell! -I shout Inspector Brackenreid coughing exaggeratedly-. Daemons!
-Sir! You're alive!
At that instant William glimpsed as two shadows slipped to the back of the building. Behind it was only the Banks of the Don.
-Damn it! Help me, you Crabtree! I'm drowning!
As Murdoch opened the windows to dissipate the smoke George observed the inspector's position. Thomas was tied up in a chair of his feet and hands. Although he had a rather swollen eye the rest of his body seemed unscathed.
-Who are the two men who have fled from behind?
-Fucking Decker and a former toronto police member.
-Who?
Instead of responding, when the inspector was freed from his ties, he threw himself at his favorite detective by punching him hard in the jaw. The blow caused Murdoch to fall to the ground.
-Sir! -George screaming by shaking his head-. Please!
