It's been a while since I updated this thing, but I had other stuff I was working on and since I'm going to summer camp for a few weeks, might as well put up something Miraculous related before I go. A nice little drabbly thing.
You Will Be Okay belongs to Vivziepop and the other songwriters and features on Helluva Boss episode two.
Chapter Seven
You Will Be Okay
"Mommy! Father!" a young boy's voice rang out through the dark mansion, eventually reaching the ears of the boy's parents. Emilie Agreste stirred once she heard the cry, then turned to the man beside her. "Adrien's calling us, Gabriel," she said sleepily to him. Gabriel didn't answer, only snoring and turning over to his wife's words. Emilie sighed as she sat up and pinched the bridge of her nose before pulling on her robe over her pajamas.
A few moments later, Emilie opened the door to Adrien's room. "Adrien? What's wrong, my sunshine?" she asked gently. A five-year-old Adrien peaked his head out from under the covers and ran to Emilie, sobbing. "Mommy! Mommy! I had a dream! A really bad dream!" he said, crying into her shoulder as she picked him up.
Emilie yawned a little and wiped away Adrien's tears. "A nightmare?" she asked gently. Adrien nodded. "I was looking all over the house, and… I couldn't find you anywhere! You weren't there!" Adrien replied, then started crying into her shoulder again.
Emilie closed her eyes and sighed, then walked him over to the bed. "There there, Adrien, it's okay; you're okay," she said. "When you're scared, or sad, or angry, and you
don't know where I am, you must remember: no matter what happens to me, I will never be far away from my precious little sunshine."
You Will Be Okay
"It always seems more quiet in the dark," Emilie started singing softly, rocking Adrien back and forth as she walked over to the window. "It always feels so stark. How silence grows under the moon. Constellations gone so soon. I used to think that I was bold. I used to think it would all be fun. Now all my stories have been told, except for one~."
"As the stars start to align, I hope you take it as a sign that you will be okay," Emilie sang as she and Adrien looked out over the rooftops towards the night sky. "Everything will be okay," she reassured. "And if everything starts to collapse, although the day could be my last, you will be okay. When I'm gone you'll be okay." Adrien yawned and nestled himself in his mother's hug a little more. Smiling, Emilie walked him back to his bed and set him down gently.
"And when Creation goes to sleep, you can find me in your dreams upon the last day," Emilie sang as she tucked him tightly, little pinpricks of tears on the corners of her eyes. "And you will be okay," she finished as she closed the door behind him. Adrien pulled the covers closer and drifted to sleep, content at last.
Adrien blinked back a couple tears as he remembered that night. He didn't remember the nightmare, but he had one that he just woke from that he would count as just as bad. Everything and everyone he loved being destroyed by his Cataclysm, their faces a mixture of shock and pain as they crumbled to dust. Ladybug's face was the one that hurt him the most, as her eyes held a single look as she crumbled, her eyes crumbling last. Why? What happened, kitty?
"It's just a nightmare, Adrien," Plagg reassured. "It's not gonna happen. We'll both make sure of it." Adrien nodded weakly. "Yeah, I know," he replied as he leaned back. As he pulled the covers over him, a thought crossed his mind. He'd never been the singer, but now was probably the best time to do it.
"It always seems more quiet in the dark," Adrien started singing to himself softly. Plagg threw him a quizzical look, but said nothing as he got back on his pillow. "It always feels so stark. How silence grows under the moon. Constellations gone so soon. I used to think I'd be brave and bold. I used to think it would all be fine. But my stories have to be told, just like you were mine~."
"As the stars start to align, I hope you take it as a sign that I will be okay," Adrien sang as he imagined the face of his mother watching him in the night sky. "Everything will be okay," he reassured. "And though everything collapsed, the next day won't be my last, and I'll be okay. Even if you're gone I'll be okay." Adrien yawned and nestled himself in his mother's imaginary hug a little more. Smiling, Emilie's face faded from the night sky as tiredness began to wrap Adrien in its embrace.
"And when Destruction goes to sleep, I can find you in my dreams. It's not the last day," Emilie sang as she tucked him tightly, little pinpricks of tears on the corners of her eyes. "And I will be okay," he finished his lullaby. Adrien pulled the covers closer and drifted to sleep, content at last. Plagg smiled a little as his chosen started snoring lightly, then went to sleep himself. After all, you can't fill up on Camembert when you're tired.
Sweet Jesus I realized while writing this that is seemed really twisted with the lyrics. I didn't have Gabriel do it because a) it's Gabriel and b) screw Gabriel. I also wrote a kinda "response" song, I guess. IDK, the fic just felt too short and I wanted to make it longer. As always, leave a recommendation, review, tell me what you think, yadda yadda. Stay safe, healthy, get vaxxed. I'm going to camp for a month, see yall when I get back.
