It was a rainy afternoon and Lil was spending one of her rare days without Phil. They were getting older so their parents decided that once a month they would each take a twin and spend an afternoon with them. This particular after noon Howard had Lil.
Lil had just woken up from her afternoon nap and remembered that it was her day with her daddy. She loved spending time with him because he would always make yummy treats just for her. She rubbed her eyes and got out of her bed. She went downstairs and found her dad just where she expected him to be.
"Ready to make some cookies?'' Howard asked Lil, who nodded and hurried over to the counter where Howard had placed a pink step stool.
Lil got on the step stool and watched as her daddy got all the ingredients needed to make cookies. They took turns adding in the ingredients. They both laughed as the flour puffed up into a cloud and covered her and Howard in flour when she accidently added to much.
"That's the fun of cooking.'' Howard said grabbing a dish towel and wiping the flour dust off of him and Lil.
Lil had fun getting the egg shell out of the sticky dough. Next she added a whole bag of mini m&ms to the mixture and she and Howard got to work forming the dough into balls.
Lil watched from a safe distance as Howard put the cookies in the oven. While they were baking the two sat on the couch and watched a reptar movie,
The timer went off and Howard placed the cookies onto a cooling wrack. He got to work making so,e hot chocolate for him and Lil.
He brought the hot chocloate and cookies into the living room and sat down just as the power went out.
Lil whimpered as she nibbled on her cookie. Things were scarier in the dark without Phil there, not that she would tell him that.
"It's OK.'' Howard said putting his arms around Lil and pulling her into his lap.
He began Making shadow puppets with a flashlight he had set on the coffee table earlier in the day just in case the power went out. Lil laughed and even made a few shadow puppets of her own.
She was a bit disappointed when the power came back on.
"Don't worry.'' Howard assured her as he turned off the light and sat back down. Lil crawled back into his lap and together they made up a story using shadow puppets. Howard did most of the story telling with Lil interjecting now and then with the few words that she knew.
