Kimi sat on a bar stool at the counter watching her father and Betty work. She watched as they made all sorts of coffee orders for grown ups.
She wished she was old enough to drink coffee, but being only five years her parents had never let her try even a tiny sip.
"Daddy.'' Kimi called when Chas had finished the last few orders and the shop emptied.
"Yes?'' Chas asked as he wiped the counter and looked over at Kimi.
"You should make a drink for kids.'' Kimi suggested.
Chas thought about for a minute.''You know that's not a bad idea.''
"I know we can't have coffee, but we can have smoothies.'' Kimi said with a smile.
"That's a great idea. We'll close up shop for a little bit and be back with a brand new product just in time for the after school rush.'' Chas said excitedly.
The only reason Kiki was here and not at school was that she still had a mild cold that she was getting over.
Chas had Betty watch the shop while him and Kimi went to the store for fresh fruit and other smoothie essentials.
"What kind of fruit should we get?'' Chas asked as they walked to the produce section.
"Strawberrys, pineapple, mango, bananas, watermelon, and blueberries.'' Kimi answered naming off all of her Chuckie's favorite fruits.
They picked out all of the fruit that Kimi had listed off and also got so,e coconut milk, almond milk, and spinach in case somebody wanted an extra veggie boost.
They brought back all of the ingredients and began experimenting with different ingredients. By the time school let out they had about ten different smoothie options.
Kimi made up posters offering what kind of smoothies they had to offer since they weren't on the menu yet.
The smoothies were a bug hit with kids and adults alike and Chas decided to add them to the regular menu along with a small game erea to make the shop more family friendly.
