Arnold's Room
Helga walked in and looked around after her laughter had subsided.
"Wow Arnoldo, I didn't really notice how cool your room looked earlier."
"Uh, thanks? Sit anywhere you'd like." He replied and sat down on his bed.
She nodded and walked over his couch and sat down. She moved the remote lying next to her, accidentally pressing a button that flipped the couch into the wall with her in it. The remote fell on the floor in Arnold's room.
"AH!" She yelled.
"Helga!" He exclaimed and pressed the button to open the couch again.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah...I just love being flipped into couches." She replied while dusting off her clothes.
"Wait. Stay still." Arnold said and slowly inched closer to take something out of her hair. Helga blushed at his action and began to grow nervous. He removed a few pieces of lint from her hair and moved back a little to look at her.
"You um...had lint-"
"T-Thank you Arnold."
"It's no problem."
For some reason, he found himself staring at her longer than he had intended to. Wait...why would he be staring at her? It's still Helga.
"Uh, Arnold...what are you staring at?"
Suddenly, he found himself still in a trance and didn't realize what he was doing.
"You changed your hair up I see."
"Y-Yeah. You got some kind of problem with that? It's just hair."
"No, on the contrary I actually kinda like it."
Helga blushed, not expecting him to compliment her for it. Oh my gosh! He likes my hair! I think I'm gonna die!
Arnold snapped out of his trance and stood up straight, walking over to sit on his bed. What am I saying? She looks pretty? I mean...I'm not exactly disagreeing with that statement. Helga is kinda attractive when you think about it but I don't want her to think I'm crushing on her. I'm not. We're just friends...well sorta.
A blush grew on his face and he looked over to her. She was looking at him with curiosity in her eyes, as if she was trying to read him. The tension in the room was now higher than they ever imagined. Arnold decided to ease the awkward tension by speaking up first.
"So...how have you been?"
"I've been fine, just tired of homework and constantly helping my dad sell beepers. Olga's off at college again and my mom is the same as ever."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't worry about it. Anyways, what have you been up to? I bet your stories are more interesting than mine."
"Hardly. Nothing has happened much to me. My Grandparents are great, I love to hang out with my friends but...-"
"Your parents?"
Arnold looked at her with depressed eyes and nodded slightly.
"I understand and respect your privacy Arnold. You don't need to share it with me if you're not comfortable. I know I may bug you a lot, but I'm here if you need anything."
Arnold sighed and walked over to his window.
"Why don't we change the subject. Let's talk about what we're going to do about Rhonda."
He turned around and smiled. "That sounds like a splendid idea. But first, why don't we head to the park and talk about it?"
Helga nodded in agreement and went downstairs with him. His Grandpa greeted them while reading the newspaper in the kitchen.
"Hey, where are you two youngsters heading off to?"
"The park. We're going there to think of a plan about Rhonda." Arnold said.
"Well let me know what you come up with. Goodbye!"
"Bye Grandpa!" Arnold yelled and opened the door for Helga before following her outside. The pair walked in sync down the sidewalk in silence until they arrived at the park and found a bench to sit on.
"So...what are you thinking we should do?" Helga asked.
"Rhonda loves to gossip. However, it's not the best idea to treat her the same way she treated us." Arnold pondered.
"I'd say we put a rabid rat in her locker and call it a day."
"Yeahhhh, how about a plan that won't end with us getting expelled."
"You got a better idea football-head?"
Harold came by and laughed at them while pointing. "Aww look! Arnold and Helga sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G! HAHAHAHA!"
Arnold narrowed his eyes at Harold. "And suddenly...I'm starting to reconsider your idea about that rabid rat in Rhonda's locker. As well as Harold's."
Harold continued to laugh very loud and eventually Helga became fed up and grabbed him by the collar.
"Harold and I are sitting in a tree. But he's gonna be beaten up by m-e."
"AHHHHHHHH MOMMY!" Harold yelled and ran away with his arms up in the air.
Helga started to laughed watching him run off.
"Now, back on topic...how about we find a way to make her admit that the photo was a misunderstanding?" Helga said.
"Knowing Rhonda, she doesn't care whether or not the story is real or false. She just wants everyone to believe what she says." Arnold replied.
"Arnold, I have a plan. And it's gotta start with her best friend Nadine."
"Awesome! But...are you sure that Nadine will want to help us?"
"We never know what may happen if we don't try."
"Okay, let's go call her." Arnold said and they both walked over to the telephone booth nearby. Helga dialed a number and someone picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Nadine, I need a favor..."
