Recap

Last time on Tales of Tamers Xilla. Milla have finish her recovery at the Mathis clinic when Our heroes we confront by Dr. Mathis about Jude wanted poster. This push the gang to leave Legonde as soon as possible. Even more so when Alvin, Elize and Rowen show up. After saying goodbye they set sail to Lakutam. Rowen came up with a plan to get to Fenmount by crossing Fezebel marsh. Of course they are now aided by Jude's old friend Leia, much to Jude displeasure. But then things didn't go as plan as they were stop by Milla handmaid Ivar, attack by the Lord of Lakutam, and discover the spirit climes have stop shifting. Unable to cross Fezebel marsh, Takato said the gang could head to Xian du to get some wyverns to fly to Fenmount. With their plan decided our heroes make there way to the city of Xian Du.

Chapter 10

Threats in the shadows Part 1

Takato Pov: After our encounter with Ivar and the Lord of Lakutam, we finally made it to the city of Xian Du. "So this is Xian Du. Seem like a tough place to build a city." Jude said as we look around. "That it is pal, but that how the people live here." I said. "The clans have warred against each other In Auj Oule since ancients times." I said. "Such conflicted people to build cities where they can, even in just a place as this." Rowen said. Milla look at the people. "The city seem especially lively." She said as she turn to me. "Takato are the having a kind of Festival?" She ask. shook my head. "I'm not sure it been awhile since I was in Xian Du." I said. "Hey check out this cool statue." Leia said as we al look at a statue. "These statues are a fusion of international spirit and faith. Local tradition of ancestor worship or so I read." Alvin said. Leia look up at it. "Best to look up in case of falling rocks." I said. She jump back. "Wah don't scare me like that." She said.

"He not kidding, it a normal thing around here." Alvin said. "You two speak as you know the area." Milla said. "I been here before, business trip." Alvin said. "Mostly came here when I was a kid." I said. I saw Elize was looking around the city. "Something up?" I ask her. "Hey this place is familiar isn't it Elly?" Teepo ask. "Yes is. I think we were taken here on the way to Hamil." Elize said. "Did you once live in the area?" Rowen ask. "I don't know." She said. "You know I could ask Argo if she can find out where you came from." I said. "You7 do that for us?" Teepo ask. I smile at them. "Of course I'll bring it the next time I see her." I said. That when we saw Alvin leaving. "Huh where are you going?" Leia ask. "Duty calls, I'll see you all in a bit." He said as he walk off. "Let him go, he'll be back. Come on we should find those wyverns." I said. "Yes let be off." Milla said as we start to walk into the town.

We continue to walk until we heard it. We look up to see a boulder rolling down the chiff. "Look Out!" I shout as I pull Elize out of the way. The boulder soon hit the ground as smoke fill the area. As the dust clears, I saw Leia was laying on the ground with Rowen over her. "Leia please wake up." He said as he try to see if she was ok. Leia let out a weak laugh. "Sorry about that." She said. "I'll have you fix up." Jude said as he start to heal her. Strange that boulder came down just as we came here? "What you think Takato, foul play?" Ask Moeru Ryu. I'm not sure yet. "I'm a doctor let me help." A woman said as she ran toward us She has short black hair with a yellow highlight in her banes. She wore a white long sleeve coat with white pants. She start to heal Leia along side Jude. They were able to heal Leia in time. "There you go, easy does it." She said as she help Leia up. "Thanks so much Miss uh." Leia said.

"The name Isla, your gonna be fine." Isla said. "Take it easy Leia." Milla said. "You should sit down for awhile." Jude said. "Some super pal Alvin turn out to be, he never around when you need him." Teepo said. "It he was here he would had protect Leia." He said. "Ok that enough spud." I said. I look out of the corner of my eye to see a man. He has an orange scarf on his arm. Now where have I see that before. I then notice Rowen was strenching Teepo. "Rowen come on stop." Jude said. He then turn to Isla. "Thanks you so much Isla, that was really kind of you." He said. "Yeah it was really nice of you." Leia said. "Not at all that my job. You folks don't look like your from around here. What bring you to town?" She ask. "We're searching for wyverns. We heard we might be able to find some here." Milla said. "Wyverns huh, in that case you should head across the river. You'll find some big ones in some cages over there. "Isla said.

"Thanks Isla." I said. "Hehe I'm just glad I could help. Well I gotta run take care of yourselves now." She said as she walk away. "Well, let find those wyverns." I said. We soon cross the river and headed up to the upper level of the city until we came to the wyverns cages. "Here we go." I said. Teepo float up to a wyvern. "Who a good wyvern." Teepo said to it, only for it to roar in the doll face. If cause him to latch onto Jude face. I chuckle at this. That when we saw some people walk up. The leader has short brown hair and he wore red Trible clothes. "You there those wyverns belong to our clan." He said. "We come to take them. I'm pondering how to break the locks." Milla said as I face palm. "For spirit sakes Milla don't sake things like that so casually." I said. Jude sigh and turn to the man. "May we borrow the wyverns?" He ask. "You can't be serious." Another man said. "Ignore the outsiders, we're running out time to find a champion." The woman said.

I saw Milla look at the wyvern. It lower it head to her. "What it submitted to her with out the use of beast craft. These people might be our answer." The leader said with a grin. "Wait you can't be thinking of recruiting these fools." The woman said. The man look at us. "I'm Yurgen of the Kitarl clan, you outsiders have arrive at a crucial time for us. I'm sure you notice the crowds in the city." He said. "It for the clans Martial arts tournament right, it been ten years already." I said. "Indeed it start tomorrow. Our clan chief is our clan only fighter. But unfortunately he is leagues away in the service of the king. Were on the verge of having to forfeit the tournament. This is a desperate time for us, for our proud and ancient clan." Yurgen said. "And I sense a specials power within you. Would you be willing to represented the Kitarl clan as our champion?" He ask.

"Heck yeah, where do we sign up?" Leia ask. "Leia he asking all of us." Jude said as he cross his arms. Leia laughs nervously. "If we enter the tournament on your be half, will you let us borrow the wyverns?" Ask Milla. "That the bargain, but you must do more then just enter you must win." Yurgen said. "I'll need see your abilities before hand as well." He said. "We can do it right Milla?" Leia ask. "Yes, we need those wyverns." Milla said. "Well you can do it with out me." I said as they all look at me. "Your not gonna fight Takato?" Jude ask. "No as much as I enjoy a good fight, I don't fight for to amuse others. Beside I got to do something in town anyways. I'll sure you guys have this handle." I said as me and Yoruichi walk away. "That not like you Takato, you usually jump at the chance to fight." Yoruichi said. "It like I told the others, I only fight when I need or if worth the trouble. Beside I need to check something out." I said. She smirk at me. "Oh how that?" She ask.

"Don't you find it strange as soon as we got to town a rock try to crush us? Also I saw a man with an orange scarf walking away when it happen. Not just that there was another man with an scarf watching us as we left the sea heaven." I said. " Guess you got a hunch then?" She ash with a cat like grin. "Maybe, we won't know until we check out the chiff." I said we made our way up the chiff. After a bit of a hike we came to the spot there the rock fell. I look around and saw some black mark by the edge. "Sensei." I said as I kneel to the ground. "Blast marks, this prove this wasn't an accident." She said. "That right someone intended to crush us. I bet those men were behind this ." I said. "You think they were Rashugal soldiers in diguse?" She ask. "I'm not sure, maybe Urahara would know. Is the cross point he step up still here in Xian Du?" I ask. "Yep you going to to check in with him?" She ask.

"Might as well." I said as we made our way back to town. From there we head down an alley to a lot with an ol shop in the center. In from of it was a pair of kids around Elize's age. The first was a girl with long black hair, it cover most of her face and was in pigtails. She wore a white shirt with a pink skirt. The other was a boy with red hair. He wore a white shirt with black shorts. They look at me. "Great it hothead." Said the boy as he glare at me. "Nice to see you too Jinta." I said. I turn to the girl. "Hey Ururu." I said. "Hello ." She said shyly. "Is Urahara here?" I ask. "Yeah he here." Jinta said as I head in. I came to a sitting room, there I found a man with short blonde hair. He wore a green coat and pants. On his head was a green and white bucket hat. I saw his cane laying on the table. He look at me and smile. "Well look who here, hey Takato, Yoruichi." He said as we sat down across from him.

"Haven't change a bit have you?" I ask. "Of course not, now how can I help you?" Urahara ask. "Do you know what been going on in Rashugal of late?" I ask. "I do, the king is extracting the mana from the people to make a powerful weapon. And it turn out you and your new friends are right in the middle of it." He said. "Pretty much, were you able to find anything about the creatures I encounter?" I ask. "There not hollows that for sure. I bet the only person who would know would be that Erika girl." He said. I raise an eyebrow at him. "You know about her?" I ask quite surprise. He nod. "Yes she came here once. We spoke quite a bit." He said. "You did what did she say?" I ask. "She said you are a person of interest to her. Also she drop by the other day to give you a message." Urahara said. "A message what it say?" I ask. "Takato you must be getting close to finding the answers you seek. But it you want the whole truth of who you are go to Fezebel marsh." He said.

"That won't be easy right now. Remember Takato the spirit climes have stop shifting. That make the marsh impassible." Yoruichi said. I grin at them. "Like that will stop me, I'll go after we take down Nachigal." I said as I got up. "Well thanks for the help Urahara, tell Kurosaki he a strawberry bitch next time you see him." I said as we left the shop. We then head for the inn to see the others waiting outside. I look at them. "So how was the try outs?" I ask. "They when well, we got the job," Alvin said. "That good as soon as you guys win, the sooner we can get the wyverns." I said. "So where were you today?" Milla ask. "I went to get some info." I said. "From Argo?" Alvin ask. "No from a friend of my m-mom." I said as I look away. "Your mom, I don't thing you ever mention her before." Jude said. "Oh boy trend carefully Jude, this is a touchy subject for him." Alvin said. "How come?" Ask Leia. "Because she dead. My mother die a long time ago." I said. Jude look nervous.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." Jude said. "It fine. As I was saying earlier my friend told me he ran into Erika. She have him relay a message to me. It said if I want to find the answer I been seeking I need to go to Fezebel marsh." I said. "But that Impossible because of the spirit clime." Rowen said. "I'll worry about that, I don't plan to leave till after we deal with the lance." I said. "Now let head in we got a big day tomorrow." I said as we went into the Inn. Normal POV: As the gang head in they were being watch by a boy the same age as Jude. He has short brown hair, he wore a black body suit with silver armor bracers on his forearms. He has sliver plates on his shoulders and black boots. There was a red bandana on his right arm. He has a black cloak on his back and he was holding a sliver helmet in his arms. "So it is him, and he doesn't remember yet." He ask. To his right was Erika. " Correct Ryo, I notice a change in his behavior. That prove he getting close, if this doesn't help then I don't know what will." She said as she hand him a wrap object.

"I'll make sure he get them, you should go before your spotted." Ryo said. "Very well I have other matters to do." She said as she walk away. Once she was gone Ryo saw a man and a woman with orange bandanas walking to him. "Captain Silver the plan fail." The man said. "I know, I doubt a rock could kill Maxwell." Ryo said. "Then are we moving to plan b?" The woman ask. "We are, Remember my father's orders are to recover the data, Killing Maxwell is secondary." Ryo said as he put on his helmet and pull his hood up. "Now let get to work." He said as the trio walk into the shadows.
