Last on Tales of Tamers Xilla, the gang have made it to the city of Xian Du. But once entering the city, they fond trouble as a large rock try to crush them. They were able to dodge it in time, but Leia was injure form it. Luckily a woman name Isla came to her aid. It was thanks to Isla that the gang found the wyverns. But getting them was no easy feat. So they cut a deal with the Kitarl clan. If they win the clans tournament for the Kitarl, then they can use the wyverns. While the others went to sigh up, Takato and Yoruichi when to the chiff to investigate the rockslide. They discover blast marks at the scene to prove what happen was no accident. Afterwards they went to see an old friend Urahara, where they learn he spoke with Erika. She have a message for Takato. He had to go to Fezebel marsh to find the answer that he seeks. He decide to wait til the matter with Rashugal is resolve be fore he go to the marsh. They then to the inn to regroup with the others, un a where of the people in the shadows.

Chapter 11

Threat in the shadows part 2

Takato pov: The next day: Well to day the day of the clans tournament. The others need to win it in order for us to get the wyverns. We need them to get to Fenmount. I got up early and decide to go on a walk around town. I was on the bridge looking at the water under the sky arena. The reason is was built so high up was so when someone loses, they would fall to there death. Those must have been hard times. "So what do you think we'll find once we get to the marsh?" Moeru Ryu ask. "No clue, Erika said the answers I'm looking for are there. Or another of those Digimon creatures could be there waiting to ambush us." I said. I lead on the railing. "For all we know she the one sending them after us." I said. "Like that Impmon creature we net in Hamil. Also there are the people Erika been watching, That girl Jeri, her younger siblings and Leia's brother Kenta. How do they fit into this?" He ask. "I don't know damnit I already have too much on my mind as it is!" I shout in frustration.

"Your still thinking about that red hair girl from your vision aren't you?" He ask. "I can't get her out of mind Ryu, she mean something to me. I need to know why." I said as I look at my reflection. "I have another dream about her. She was being held captive by some sort of ice devil. I was trying to save her. Damnit I still can't remember her name!" I shout as I slam my hand on the railing. "Takato you ok?" Jude's voice ask. I look to see him and Elize staring at me in worry. "Oh yeah I'm fine, just thinking is all. What you guys up to?" I ask. "Since Elize been to Xian Du before, I thought a walk around town would jog some memories." Jude said. I look over to her. "Did it work?" I ask. "A bit about my parents, but then we ran into a woman with the same last name as you." She said. I blink. "You did, by any chance she have black hair, red eyes, and work as a teacher?" I ask. "Yeah." Jude said. I let out an amuse chuckle." Yeah that would be my Aunt Karla. It been awhile since I last saw her." I said. "How come?" Teepo ask. "It a long story." I said as we heard a bell.

"Guess it time, Rowen went ahead of us." Jude said. "Then let go." I said as we head to the ferry and made our way to the arena. When we got there we saw the others. "Hey guys guess what, Yurgen and Isla know each other. They're actually engaged." Leia said excited. "Wow who knew." I said surprise. Jude smile at Yurgen. "Your kidding, when the big day?" He ask. Yurgen laugh. "Stop it you two, it not for awhile." He said. "And get this, Isla is taking care of Alvin's mom." Leia said. "It really a small world huh." I said. "Wait what wrong with Alvin's mom?" Jude ask. "No need to worry about her." Alvin said suddenly. "What about you, learn anything about Elize?" Milla ask. "A little, she seem to remember a something about her parents." Jude said. "But not a lot." I said. "Playtime is over, were about to start." Yurgen said. "Well that my cue to go get a seat, I'll cheer you guys on." I said as I head to the stands. Once I got my seat, the tournament begins.

So far the others were doing pretty well. "Enjoying the show Takbou." Said Argo as she sat next to me. "Wondering when you show up. So what you got for me?" I ask as I pass her a bag of gald. "The info on Giland. From what I found out is that Giland didn't even exist 20 years ago." She said as I look at her confuse. "What do you mean?" I ask. "I mean Takbou, is he just show up out of nowhere. When he did, he became the deputy chief of staff of the Rashugal army. He all in charge of a project in the LA forte lab in Fenmount call." She said. 'Let me guess the Lance of Kresnik right" I ask. She gave me a surprise look. "Oh you know about that?" She ask. "I do. Now do you know anything about a group of people who wear orange bandanas on them" I ask. She grin at me. "I do it has to do with Giland. From what my contact told me, there is a group call Exodus. Old Giland is apart of it, most likely their leader." She said.

"Exodus huh, any idea to what they want?" I ask. "Not sure, but I do know they hate your pal Maxwell. They try to kill her quite a bit." Argo said. "So I was right, what happen earlier was a attempt to kill Milla. Question is why?" I ask myself. "Anything else?" I ask her. "Just one, your being watch." She said. "What where." I said as I try to play it cool. "Behind you, top row. Saw him on my way in." She said. "He wearing a black cloak." She said. I bend my back to look like I'm trying to crack it. I saw a figure in a black cloak sitting in the top row. "I see." I said as I move back. "Thanks Argo, I'll contact you if I need anything else." I said. "Make sure you do Takbou later." She said as she walk away. I notice that the fighting look to be over. Best to check in with the others. I went back to the lobby to find them there. "We did it." Leia said out of breath. "We sure did, it nearly went the other way." Jude said. "Come on that was a cinch." Alvin said. "I beg to differ, those matches were quite demanding." Rowen said tiredly.

"Our little buddy Alvin is a big fat liar right Elly?" Teepo ask. Well the doll not wrong. "Yes it wasn't easy at all." Elize said. "Don't blame you guys, you were fighting monsters after all." I said. We soon saw Yurgen. "Nice work out there, those were some fantastic fights." He said. "The finals begin after lunch." The female Kitarl said. "Great I'm staving." I said as we follow them to the mess hall. We soon sat down. After a awhile the food came. "Scoping out our opponents for the finals?" Alvin ask Jude, who was looking around. "Well yeah of course." He said. "What if you spot a cute little she warrior who totally your type?" Alvin ask. I chuckles. "Don't know about that Alvin. I think Jude only prefer blondes." I said as I got a blush out of Jude. "What no I'm here to fight not flirt." He said. He then look at me. "What about you Takato, I notice every time were in town that every girls is looking at you." He said. I smirk at him. "Not my fault I'm handsome." I said. "We made it to the finals. To be honest, I wasn't sure you have it in you." Yurgen said.

"Why we told you we'll win." Leia said. "Fair enough." He said as the server brought Milla her food. "Anyways please help yourselves, you'll need to have enough energy to win." Yurgen said. That when a man ran it and turn to Yurgen. "Yurgen we got a problem." He said. "What is it?" The female Kitarl ask. "Turn out that rockslide was no accident. They found signs of someone destroy the cliff intentionally." The man said. 'You sure?" Yurgen ask. "He is. I was curious about it myself, so I check it out. I found Blast marks at the scene." I said. Suddenly Milla quickly stood up. "Don't touch the food!" She shout as Alvin drop his spoon. Soon people start to pass out. "What happening?' Jude ask. I kneel to one of them. Rowen kneel next to me. "Do you detect that faint odor. I know of this, yes there can be no doubt." He said. "Yeah I know it too Metocina, a poison that dissolve in liquid." I said. Damn some one just try to kill, who is behind this? "Are you serious, why would anyone want to do this?" Jude ask.

I sigh. "It how some people are Jude." I said. "Do our opponents want to win that badly." The man Kitarl said. "No it wasn't them. Only one group would use such cowardly means." Milla said as Alvin suddenly ran out of the room without a word. "Alvin!" I shout. "What going on?" Elize ask concern. "Thing were going so well, why is this happening?" Leia ask. "Milla do you know something about this?" Jude ask. She didn't say anything. After what happen we return to the Inn. "Exodus is behind this conspiracy." Milla said. "What Exodus?" Leia ask. "It a group that been trying to kill Milla for quite some time." I said as everyone look at me. "You know about them?" Milla ask. "I ran into my informant Argo earlier, she told me about them. I discover they been watching us since we left the sea heaven." I said. I turn to Milla and look her in the eye. "Tell me Maxwell, why do they want you dead so badly?" I ask. "I mean they use a rockslide and try to poison us, so time for you to spill the beans." I said.

She let out sigh. "First I am truly sorry for all those who died because of me." She said sadly. "Goodness to the thing they would poison a room full of people just to kill you." Rowen said. "Yes they were never very subtle with their measure but this act was especially heinous." She said. "That terrible like Takato ask, why are they after you?" Leia ask. She turn from us. "It because I been destroying there Spyrixes. Ever since Exodus first appear with then 20 years ago." Milla said. "That a long time." I said. "Hold up does that include the lance of Kresnik. That weapon use spirix, does that mean Exodus is involve?" Jude ask. "From what Argo told me yes." I said. "Takato is right, I subspect the lance was originally made by Exodus. But I cannot prove if." Milla said. "My guess they blend in with the populace right?" I ask. "Yes until now I only been able to find them when they use spyrix. I can sense the spirits dying because of it." She said. "Wait what." Jude said shock.

"Every time a spyrix generate artes, It drive spirits to their deaths. Human and spirits have a reciprocal relationship, you borrow their power to live. While spirits live off the mana produce by a human mana lobes." Milla said. "At first glance Spyrixes seem like a dream come true, but in actually it throw this delicate balance off." She said. "So as long spyrix exist nether humans nor spirits can live in peace right?" I ask as she nod. "I feel like such a fool, this is all new to me." Rowen said. "Of course it is. I've been dealing with it on my own while ensuring that humans remains un a where." Milla said. "Milla been fighting this whole time?" Elize ask. "That she has." I said. "Yeah for all of us." Jude said. "Until recently that is. Now that I have lost the power of the four, I drag humans into my struggle." Milla said. "You do know I'm a soul reaper right? It my duty to protect the spirits too. Hm guess Exodus is the reason why there been barley any hollows around. I said.

"Hollows?" Elize ask. "Evil spirits that eat other spirits." I said. That when Yurgen came in. 'How is everyone?" Leia ask. "We were the meal only survivors." He said sadly. "Naturally the final have been post pone. Don't expect to fight for 2 days" 'They didn't cancel!" Jude shout. "Of course they didn't, this event is once in a decade." I said. "Any sight of Alvin yet." Yurgen ask. "No." Rowen said. 'I see, well we'll pass along the the news. I'll return once the details are decided." Yurgen said as he left. 'Don't you think we should forfeit the tournament?" Leia ask. 'I think so too." Elize said. "Your probably right." Milla said. "We should get some sleep. We can talk about this in the morning." I said as we all went to bed. The next morning we all met in the lobby, except for Milla who ran off. 'Any luck?" Jude ask. "I doubt she'll do any thing risky man." I said. "I hope so." Elize said. 'Then let go find her." I said as we went into town. Once we got to the market, we saw Isla was there.

"Oh Isla good morning." Leia said. "Good morning, I heard about your close call yesterday. You people sure are luckily." She said. "Yes but all those people weren't." Jude said. "O-of course that terrible thing for me to say forgive me." She said. 'Excuse me have you seen Milla?" Elize ask. Isla kneel down to her. "Well this the first time we really spoken is it. She not with you?" Isla ask. 'She went off by herself, same with Alvin." I said. "Don't I know you from some where?" Isla ask. "Are you perhaps acquainted with young Elize?" Rowen ask. "Elize n-no I don't know her." Isla said as she jump back shock. That strange? "I have an errand , I need to run. Ill see you later." She said as she run off. "What was that about?" Leia said. "No clue It doesn't matter right now. We should look for the others." I said as we head to the bridge. It was there that we saw Milla and Alvin. "Milla." Jude said. "Hey there." She said.

"Where have you been, we were worry." He said. "I think you mean I was worry Jude." I said as he blush. "Sorry about that." She said. "You too Alvin, the next time you storm off tell us where your going first." Jude said. "Shimmer down kid, look like Elize want to say something." Alvin said as we look at her. "Um I think Isla might know something about me." She said. "What make you say that?" Milla ask. "It was her reaction when she heard Elize's name, she seem scare for some reason." I said. 'She did look pale as a ghost when she look at Elize." Jude said. "She dash out like she was scare of us." Teepo said. "If we spot Isla I say we don't let her get away again." Leia said. "We'll get her to talk." I said. "Oh boy your in torture mode." Moeru Ryu said. Stup up. That when we heard the bell. "Hey shouldn't you folks be hightailing it to the arena." A woman said. "The tournament is gonna start up soon." A girl said. "Hey we can't be late for our own tournament." Teepo said.

"You be kick out if your late." I said. "Is that really a bad thing. Weren't you thinking of forfeiting?" Milla ask. "A wise woman once said that hesitation is common human failing. We must keep moving forward ever when the path is uncertain." Rowen said. Milla chuckles at that, "Oh so I did thank you." She said. We turn the woman and girl. "How did you know we were tournament fighters?" Jude ask the woman. "Why else would you be here, outsiders are either combatants or people who come to watch when it tournament time." She said. "That just common sense around here." The girl said. Oh that right I forgot about that. Wait Isla acted like she didn't know that. And she show up right after that rock fall. Something doesn't add up. "Why you ask that?" Elize ask. "You got the same hunch I have?" I ask Jude. 'Yeah I did, but we can worry about that later. Let head for the arena." He said. After we catch the ferry, we came to the arena. We ran to Yurgen.

"We heard the bell, what going on?" Milla ask. "Oh thanks the spirits your here. The tournament committee suddenly vote to hold the finals." Yurgen. "Really now?" I ask. "And they decided to revert to the late king rules." the male Kitarl said. My eye widen from shock. "You don't mean?" I ask concern. "I'm afraid so, a fight to the death. The rules also mandate that the fights be 1 on 1." Yurgen said sadly. "What should we do?" Jude ask. 'Why would they revert to an older set of rules?" Rowen ask. "Wake up and smell the poison coffee kids. It pretty obvious this is a plot by Exodus, the people trying to snuff out Milla." Alvin said. "Are you sure uncle?" I ask. "Hold on how do you know about those meanies?" Ask Teepo. "Is this ok for you to say?" Milla ask. "My way of thanking you." He said as he turn his back on us. "What are you talking about?" Jude ask. "Alvin is working for Exodus." Milla said.

"What the fuck!" I shout. "Your kidding me right?" Leia ask. "I wish I was, they been having me do odd jobs for them." He said. "Don't tell the poison." Jude said. 'That wasn't me! I almost choke on that stuff too. I don't know who was behind it." He said. "I work for them sure, but it was always small fry stuff." He said. "Uncle can you promise me you'll never work for them again?" I ask him. "Yes you have my word." He said. Let hope so. "Were you aware of Exodus plans?" Rowen ask. "Yeah I heard some things. They hope to changes the rules of the finals to kill Milla. Even if you win, they have a back up plan. They figure you be wore out from the fight you be easy picking for their snipers in the cheap seats." Alvin said. "Unless we take them out first." I said. "How dare they disgrace our proud tournament." Yurgen said. "There plan is a house of cards, it any you fight in my stead it will collapse." Milla said. "Good thinking." Leia said.

"Still I'll take there bait, anything to drag them out." Milla said. "It risky, but it our best shot to get theses bastures." I said. "You can't be serious." Rowen said. "Look like Jude agreed with us." Milla said as we saw Jude in a thinking pose. "You want us to take care of the Exodus agents in the stands." Jude said. "Exactly." Milla said. "Normally we'll have no way of knowing when strike. But now we have a time and a place, it a logical plan." Jude said. "If we don't strike now, they'll slip away and find time to prepare a new plan." Milla said. "You really going to enter?" Yurgen ask. "The pride of your clan is on the line you know." I said. "Very well." He said. "So were left with no choice. But to ensure that everything goes right you must succeed." Rowen said. "Correct let us go." Milla said. We move to our places. While Milla got ready for the fight, the rest of us got into the stands. From there we start to look around for the agents.

I saw Milla enter the ring. The match is about to start. That when I saw her opponent enter. He was holding a large device in his hands. "What is that thing?" I ask. Light start to gather in front of it as it shot a lighting blast at Milla. Luckily she rolled to dodge it. "Takato I just felt spirits dying!" Shout Moeru Ryu. 'So did I that thing a spyrix!" I shout. "No stop give him back!" I heard Elize shout. I look to see two people have her and Teepo. "Hey let her go!" I shout as I try to run to them. "If you want them then come to Labari hollow." A voice said. I turn around to see a black cloak figure running through the exit. "Some on just kidnapp Elize and Teepo." Leia said. "Dammit!" I shout enraged. "They weren't after you. Their real target must have been Teepo all along. There are no snipers' in the stands either, I'm sorry I didn't know!" Alvin shout. "Then it up to you to save them." Milla said as she and the others fight the Exodus agents. "I'll go too." I said as I use Flash step to burst out of the arena. Dammit how could this have happen hang on guys we're coming.

Milla: Exodus have gone too far this time by taking our friends. When go to rescues them we discover a dark secret of the past that will shock two of our own. Next time on Tales of Tamers Xilla: Chapter 12: Elize and Teepo. May the spirits smile upon us.
